There is a trend amongst luxury cars, I think driven by Tesla, of moving towards minimalism, which to me feels like a move away from luxury.
Lee Felsenstein - Homebrew Compter Club, Osborne 1, Sol-20 (this + Community Memory is a good story)
Ed Roberts - MITS
Nat Wadsworth - created a PC in 1973, heartbraking story http://www.willegal.net/feature_stories/Nat%20Wadsworth%20-%...
Dr Robert Suding - Create Digital Group computers
Robert Noyce - Founder of Fairfield semi and Intel. Really good book called The Man Behind The Microchip
I have a collection of other watches including Apple watches and Swiss mechanical watches. None of them are as practical and hassle-free as this watch.
With the Apple 1 he also used 7 bits per character, but he stored them with 7 1024-bit shift registers.
BASIC and the monitor were stored on ROM chips on the motherboard. The II and II+ were basically the same computer with a different set of BASIC ROM chips installed.
Edit: It is actually possible to have both sets of ROM chips installed if you use a Firmware card. Very handy!
I use one plugged into a thunderbolt 3 dock so I can have a great desktop setup with a single wire, and quickly unplug when I need to move.
