camdenlock··on Apple isn’t perfect on environment isues, but it’s depressingly ahead of peers
Leave it to Progressives to lament gains as “depressing”
camdenlock··on Alan Moore giving all his screen royalties to Black Lives Matter
How could any person do such a thing and not feel ashamed? Does this guy live in a bubble where he can’t read the news? Like… why not pick a worthwhile charity?
camdenlock··on Steam turns 20 today: “We had to try a lot of different things over the years”
Love Steam. Member since 2004. This writing style is really grating, though. Not sure what to call it. Manic forum poster? Hmm.
camdenlock··on The Private Jet Collection of Google Founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin
But… why? These aren’t even small private jets, they are like… huge commercial airliners. Why own such things as private citizens?
camdenlock··on Therapy isn't fixing America's mental health crisis
These are luxury diseases that you’ll only find in super-rich countries.
camdenlock··on ‘No one wants to be right about this’: climate scientists
Why is this El Niño phenomenon being cast as something much larger and more terrifying? Isn’t it a temporary phenomenon?
camdenlock··on Fosstodon
Why does everyone on the timeline seem to have the same exact beliefs, opinions, viewpoints, and style of expression? What a colossal bore.
camdenlock··on So You're an American?
Does this site just not work on mobile browsers? I’m seeing vast blank vertical spaces.
camdenlock··on [dead]
Identitarian activists, presumably.
camdenlock··on When your coworker does great work, tell their manager (2020)
Would be interested to hear anecdotes from your culture.

In the NA culture, we’ve reached a “kindergarten” sort of stage, where the prime directive is to protect feelings and reduce “harm”. I suspect this may be due the growing influence of academia on the private sector.

camdenlock··on AI Crap
Socialists really are a dreary miserable lot, aren’t they.
camdenlock··on “Open” “AI” Isn't
It’s fascinating how one man can so finely hone his ability to be insufferable. Even if he’s right, his style and overconfidence are incredibly off-putting to me.
camdenlock··on Luck be a Landlord is now banned in 13 countries on the Google Play Store
> Luck be a Landlord is a roguelike deckbuilder about using a slot machine to earn rent money and defeat capitalism.
camdenlock··on NetMaker: Connect Everything with a WireGuard VPN
WTF does “left” have to do with it?
camdenlock··on I'm 17 and wrote this guide on how CPUs run programs
It honestly isn’t important, so I can see why people don’t care. But it is interesting, at least to me. :)
camdenlock··on I'm 17 and wrote this guide on how CPUs run programs
Yes. The author is, like me, a male trans woman.
camdenlock··on Conduit: Simple, fast and reliable chat server powered by Matrix
That says more about those “other chat platforms” than anything else.
camdenlock··on Why they're smearing Lina Khan
Apparently, to a socialist, a person can’t merely have contrary convictions; they must be stupid and deluded.
camdenlock··on The Free Movie
MSCHF gives off major script kiddie vibes, plus a dash of collectivist cringe.
camdenlock··on Ask HN: Problems for the next decade?
The only thing of value business owners produce is tax revenue?
camdenlock··on Ask HN: Problems for the next decade?
So having >= 1,000,000,000 USD is somehow bad?

How about 999,999,999? Still bad?

How about 900,000,000? No?

Hm. How much is too much, and why?

camdenlock··on Embrace, extend, enshittify
Yep. Cory Doctorow.
camdenlock··on Seven Rules for Internet CEOs to Avoid Enshittification
It’s the kind of term a bunch of nerdy kids would come up with, snorting and giggling at how clever they are. This is more or less the level at which Doctorow operates.
camdenlock··on How AI can distort human beliefs
Roughly summarized, they’re afraid that these popular models won’t exclusively push their preferred ideology (critical social justice)
camdenlock··on Welcome Lemmy.world
Took a look at mastodon.world out of curiosity. Total conformity of belief on the entire front page timeline. Maybe it’s another one of those Mastodon instances where anti-capitalist social justice is the approved dogma, and dissenters are banned? Seems to be a lot of those…
camdenlock··on Subreddit Migration Directory
I read it. It’s bizarre. They’re so convinced of their preferred ideology that they refer to indoctrination as simply “becoming a better person”.

One doesn’t come across such intense blindness of self like that very often. Steer clear.

camdenlock··on Lemmy Instances are already blocking each other
The Beehaw “about us” page is amazing. They elevate their favored ideology to “just being a good person”. Such self-blindness is quite entertaining.

… but also kinda creepy.

camdenlock··on Reddit Threatens to Remove Moderators from Subreddits Continuing Blackouts
There is no such thing as “the internet community”. There is just humanity.
camdenlock··on The Diversity Myth
> “So in conclusion—and this is a simplification, perhaps a distortion, but I think you know what I mean—it would be healthier that, whenever someone mentions DEI, you just think CCP.”
camdenlock··on ‘Attractive women 16% more likely to secure startup funding’
It’s amazing how many mysteries evaporate when one accepts this rather obvious premise.
