cageyjames··on Download Public User Data with Oink's Export Tool
Actually protecting the users should be. Maybe because I'm a Dad makes me lame like my father was before me, but...
cageyjames··on Download Public User Data with Oink's Export Tool
That doesn't answer my question.
cageyjames··on Download Public User Data with Oink's Export Tool
Respect your users.
cageyjames··on Download Public User Data with Oink's Export Tool
Privacy should always be the number one concern with apps and websites. This is simply just sloppy.
cageyjames··on Yammer CEO won't hire anyone from Yahoo who doesn't quit in next 60 days
If you can't overreact on the Internet, where can you overreact?
cageyjames··on IPhoto for iOS Not Using Google Maps?
Right so the license says this:

If your application displays Places API data on a map, that map must be provided by Google. Places API responses may include Listings provider attributions in HTML format that must be displayed to the user as provided. Any links included in the HTML must be preserved. We recommend placing this information below any search results or Place Details information.

cageyjames··on IPhoto for iOS Not Using Google Maps?
That would be a violation of the license, right? If you use places, you need to use Google's API to display them.

Here is a great resource to compare Apple tiles and OpenStreetMap tiles at the same time:

cageyjames··on Atlas Van Lines Migration Data 2002-2011
I'm curious how much the movement toward the mid-Atlantic states is the growth of federal government consulting jobs over the past 10 years.
cageyjames··on KML shapes of any US state, city, or county, made possible by the U.S. Census
Gotcha, might have been a little bit of me reading more into it. Awesome stuff still!
cageyjames··on KML shapes of any US state, city, or county, made possible by the U.S. Census
That should appeal the the crowd here, but we've got the data up on our service that can be exported to many other formats, including KML.

It is always good though to see governments try and make using their data easier. Quite a shift...

cageyjames··on Curebit’s at it again, stealing more than code this time
Could be a rough couple weeks for Curebit. Clearly the Internets is going to go through all their work with a fine tooth comb. I doubt any company could be 100% sure they haven't used non-licensed materials.

That said, Curebit seems to have a bit of a problem on their hands. Smoke, meet fire...

cageyjames··on Sending back my iPhone 4S. Siri is useless outside the US.
Don't troll that you're sending your iPhone back in the title and then hem and haw in the comments that you might keep it around. What's the Austrailian translation for drama queen?
cageyjames··on Why WSJ Mobile App Gets 2 Star Customer Reviews
See that isn't quite right, while the app is free to subscribers to the physical newspaper, those of us who use the online web access don't get access to the iPhone, only the iPad. That's why I'm unhappy. Dudes mockups still leave us online users pissed.
cageyjames··on Why 37signals is falling into obsolescence
Maybe I'm missing the point, but aren't there tons of 3rd party clients available as well as their own Highrise client?

http://basecamphq.com/extras

I'm not fan of Basecamp, but I think they've got a good ecosystem going.

cageyjames··on Remote Conductor: Turn iPad Into a Mac Input Device
When I first saw this I couldn't understand why it was needed. I mean who wants a $500 mouse?

After thinking about it though it starts to make sense to me. Of course no one in their right mind would buy an iPad to use Remote Conductor, but those of us with iPads can take advantage of the "Launch Mode". I'm sold.

cageyjames··on Review of the 11" MacBook Air
You'd think that wouldn't you, but clearly that isn't how it works. Something about making my index fingers hit those key requires a lighted keyboard now.

Again, I'm aware I'm being soft here.

cageyjames··on What was it like to fly the Concorde
Got to spend money to make money.

Hmm, wait that isn't right...

cageyjames··on Review of the 11" MacBook Air
re: backlit keyboard

Once you live with it, you can't live without it. I've become so spoiled in my years....

cageyjames··on What was it like to fly the Concorde
It was a different world back then (both the design and implementation of the Concorde). France and Britain both put billions into the program in the hopes of being on the leading edge of the supersonic revolution. Clearly they were the leading edge, but there was no revolution.

It was the small, slow 737 and A320 that really changed aviation. I can fly between cities for less than $50 (on special) in 2011. Price won out over service and speed.

cageyjames··on How my iPhone made me miss my first flight of the year
So true, I guess that is why there are still 800/900 number services that will perform the wake up call in 2011.

cageyjames··on How my iPhone made me miss my first flight of the year
A good way to find the notification bug in iOS4! ;)
cageyjames··on How my iPhone made me miss my first flight of the year
If I used and iPhone to wake up, I'd check every night before I went to bed to be sure the alarm worked. It isn't like this is the first time this has happened.

I keep jumper cables in my car because the electrical system drains the battery (and I'm too cheap to get a new car). I do so because I know it will need it eventually. How many times will the alarm clock "bug" have to bite before people start taking precautions.

cageyjames··on How my iPhone made me miss my first flight of the year
I wouldn't be dependent on an iPhone to wake up in the morning.
