buzzkills··on John Resig annotates original jQuery source code
Wow, makes me feel a little better that he had 75 open source projects before he had a 'hit'. :)
buzzkills··on A new day for Google Calendar
I wonder if it works for domain accounts. Most things don't seem to for some time.
buzzkills··on A list of search results omitted due to the “Right to be forgotten”
The Stan O'Neil one is incorrect. Google spokes persons was on BBC Radio the other day and stated that it was one of the commenters on the article that requested the removal.

Here I found a source: http://thenextweb.com/google/2014/07/04/google-takedown-requ...

buzzkills··on How we build microservices
No difference, just a new name. Not so bad I guess, however I fear it will cropper when vendors leap on the bandwagon again and start sell inappropriate tools and frameworks badged as Microservice and we can start the process of renaming again.
buzzkills··on Node.js in Production
Yes, raspberry pi with handle front page HN. Put free cloudflare in front and you're laughing.
buzzkills··on Update on Linksys WRT1900AC support for OpenWRT
It still appears in their list of supported hardware though. http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start of course when you dig deeper it is clear it doesn't work but still should it be in one of the other tables showing support in progress
buzzkills··on Rendering Head in WebGL
If it's static files I'd recommend the cloudflare free tier to off load them on to their CDN. https://www.cloudflare.com/plans I'm not affiliated other than being a customer...

I think (s)he is hoping that an upgrade will be cheaper than buying whole new license irrespective of the cheap initial price.
buzzkills··on How I Automated “Finding Almost Anyone’s Email Address”
If, like me, you have multiple permutations of your email that actually work you're going to annoy the recipient quite a bit by emailing them multiple times using that technique. If this is someone you wish to impress then I'd advise against this approach.
buzzkills··on Tor and HTTPS
I stand corrected and I've learnt something :)
buzzkills··on Tor and HTTPS
https encrypts the host header (indeed all the http headers), so yes it does encrypt the domain in that respect. What it can't encrypt is the destination IP address, which would be reverse looked up to the domain if everything was configured right in the DNS.
buzzkills··on A New HTTP Status Code to Report Legal Obstacles
they do it at the firewall...
buzzkills··on An HTTP reverse proxy for realtime
It's actually fairly good now that most of the improvements in 1.1 can be used with browser support like pipelining, compression, keep-alives and so on. However it isn't perfect SPDY is better still as it allows for things like muxing and pre-emptive resource downloading.
buzzkills··on An HTTP reverse proxy for realtime
Learn the fundamentals not the frameworks. The frameworks will come and go but the fundamentals change much more slowly. For example in this case, if you don't already, learn how long polling works, and what the alternatives are, learning how web sockets work, learn how comet works etc. It will lead on to how TCP/IP works at a basic level anyway.
buzzkills··on Poll: How many programmers don't know about bit-wise operations?
When writing network protocols or de-marshalling binary data it's common to want to know which bits are set in a byte. You might do a & 4 == 4 to test the 3rd bit is set, how would you do this with 'regular programming'?
buzzkills··on Poll: How many programmers don't know about bit-wise operations?
Always just too much to justify buying. Borrowed it a few times though. These kind of problems are my crossword puzzles.
buzzkills··on Free Interactive Java Tutorial
A number of the pages don't exist or work when clicked on. Seems pretty poorly coded.
buzzkills··on Ten predictions (2004)
I'm sorry he got (1.) wrong. Let's be really generous and say that he means databases that aren't relational (which is totally different from XML database), even by that definition I'd argue that there aren't more people (developers) using Non relational over relational. How about end users, yes probably more users, but even in 2004 more people were using non-relation databases than relational (file systems, LDAP, Lotus Domino, VSAM, IMS, AD). So perhaps you could interpret surpass to mean 'better than', well that's just vague.
