Its all a bit hand wavy nonsense. Own a physical copy? How long until its unplayable because either the media corrupts or the player isn't available? The only real "ownership" is the IP, everything else is just renting.
Thats a pretty snarky thing to say about Apple. They were arguably the pioneers in OS UX... granted, its not the end all, be all, but still. You could do worse.
One of my CS professors told the story about when MCSFT demonstrated their implementation of the Korn shell at a USENIX conference. Gasbag on stage tells the guy in the question line that he (questioner) has misinterpreted something in the software's original intention. Gasbag figures out something is up when half the room cracked up. The guy at the mic was David Korn, author of the Korn shell.
I had to stop using Safari for development when I discovered the cache wasn’t clearing, even when I asked it to. That was a few years ago, and frankly, I’ve never looked back.
I’m online a lot and I go to a lot of different websites. I believe people when they say they’ve had issues with Firefox, but personally this is never been an issue I’ve only had to turn off ublock a few times over several years.
If you want an experience that includes privacy violations, knock yourself out. Personally, as an end user, that is exactly what I don’t want, which is why I use Firefox
My impression is that security people already consider Chrome a "virus" application. This is just one more nail the coffin for anyone who cares about such things. (To be clear, people should care)
I tested out GPT-4 the other day and asked it to generate a simple two boxes in a row using Tailwind and hilariously, the resulting code actually crashed my browser tab. I reviewed the code and it was really basic, so this shouldn't have happened at all. But it consistently crashed every time. I'm still not entirely sure what happened, maybe an invisible character or something, I think its more funny than anything else.
If you look on YouTube, you can find up-res versions of Mitchell and Webb that look amazing compare to other sources. Maybe the same technique can be used on Connections
I personally decided not to buy tickets for any event that costs more than $100. There are so many local artists, small music events, and community theatre that are delightful that I ve come to the conclusion that Ticketmaster can go screw itself.
One of the first games I ever played. My mom was a secretary at a local University and the computer lab manager set 15 (1978-79) year old me up at a paper printing PDP terminal and cut me loose. I would take the paper printouts home and pour over them.
This is such a common problem these days. I have almost 15 years of experience with another framework, but the latest iteration is almost a complete re-write and most of what I knew in the past isn't that helpful. To say I have "x" years of experience doesn't really acknowledge my current level of understanding.
