But that's still not an across the wire latency.

Why patch out fun on a single player game? Simply don't use it if it's not fun...

So which model are they using under the hood? The "Personalizing" status updates as it formulates a response makes me think Gemini

Isn't that kind of a good thing at the scale of a government? Each task should be hard, use a lot of energy, to ensure it's important enough to do. The DMV should take 1/2 day of work. Otherwise people's egos start think they have it all figured out and then people start imagining improvements and become dissatisfied. Wouldn't this just lead to unrest and resentment?

So this leads to the LLM running the government right? It's going to be useful enough to work with it, not around it, and as it reduces the workload of government employees, more branches will begin to utilize it. Maybe in a few decades it becomes: "it's doing a good job of managing the people's requests and expectations, let's let it ride"

Maybe

Arc is still usable and gets chromium updates. It's still my daily driver since as you said, it's great.

Edit: I also use it as my mobile browser. I really don't see any problems on their mobile app (iOS)

I imagine the change from oil lamps to electricity was a similar paradigm shift. What do you mean one company controls if I can or can't light my home?
butlike··on When did Google get so weird?
Yes, the numerical point counter at the bottom of the popular video game Dark Souls. I doubt it was the soul anyone was expecting, but they do, in fact, exist.

Does the Robin bird understand the worm it's pecking at? Honestly I find your comment asinine and overly aggressive.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck maybe it's a duck... but maybe it's not. And it's important to verify it's a duck (or not) for when you _really_ need a duck.

Funny, I consider him a national hero. Agree to disagree I guess.

The iPhone 1 doesn't look THAT bad to me. Also I wonder if its worth 13.6 thousand ($13,600) in phone upgrades over the years?

My issue is I'm getting to the point where I have to wonder if "Details in the back" are preserved, or if they're re-added via some sort of post-processing filter. Are those REALLY the details in the photo?

This coincides with the release of Opus 5.5. Wonder if that has any causal relationship to this?

Zawinski's Law: Every program attempts to expand until it can read mail. Those programs which cannot so expand are replaced by ones which can.
butlike··on Xbox continues its “reset” with dramatic restructuring
Maybe Todd's more a champion of the people than I originally realized. Not retreading ground with remasters is admirable in my book.

Xbox360 was the second best system behind PS2 in my mind. PS4, Switch, and Super Nintendo get honorable mentions.

I never considered the compound interest angle. This helps me reason about my life; thanks!

Who do you leak to when you believe even your organization is compromised/complicit? Who watches the watchmen? He chose 'the people' and I can't fault him for it.

Or it was a crime of opportunity on Russia's part. "Hey, we didn't plan this but since his passport just got revoked, what if Good Ol' Uncle Putin extended a hand? Maybe we could flip him."

Whether the play worked or not doesn't really matter. I don't think his citizenship status is contingent on him leaking to Russia explicitly, and I don't think he started as a Russian spy. I think it was a crime of opportunity; a play.

It's all fun and games until the mind wanders to you getting polonium-210'd for your work, and you decide 'my life isn't worth _this_.' It's kind of dumb people choose fear, but I understand it.

It's a little disingenuous that I can't toggle notifications for Settings.app off in the Notifications section of Settings.
butlike··on Turn off and restrict access to Apple Intelligence features on Mac
The pictures start to take up a non-zero amount of space. Also video shot with the Camera.app gets lumped into the "Photos" partition of iCloud, so it becomes hard to separate the large video files from the countless photos you have.

It feels like I'm playing a dream.

Too bad the dated puzzles pull me out of it so much.

butlike··on Grim Fandango Puzzle Document (1996) [pdf]
Oh nice. I saw that reading the document and thought it was an intentional way to not spoil the game, even for the people reading the document. It's like: ok, you've read the descriptions and solutions to countless of the games puzzles at this point, trust that we have the last puzzle on lock. This would get the reader's brain percolating with creative ideas on what the last puzzle could be.

Interesting that that's not actually the case.

The issue with iCloud is that before you even know it, you're paying $9.99/mo. Since 200gb is quite low, the next tier up is 2tb for $9.99, but then you're essentially locked in. I can't view the iCloud price tiers as anything other than predatory.
