Please don't do this :) Readable code is better than clever code!
- “default theme sucks and is bad accessibility”. On its own this is objectively provable of course except when you’re talking about probably the single most commonly changed setting in a coders primary IDE other than maybe font. Calling the app objectively bad because it chose a bad default theme that gets immediately changed is a weak take
- “hidden menu options” this is the subjective one as I called out unless you can provide examples that are universal.
- “bad keyboard shortcuts” is subjective for the most part but even still is a widely changed option and very easy to fix. So calling the app objectively bad for this is also a weak take.
- it has bad defaults for theme (which I bet most devs change immediately anyways on every IDE)
- “common items” (which when unspecified could be assumed to be subjective to each persons workflow) are hidden in submenus?
- “common shortcuts” (again unspecified) require stretching (again, something trivially changed)
Unless you have more these feel not only extremely weak but extremely subjective. Please avoid trying to phrase your opinions as some fact it’s a tiring trope these days.
This is because my brain couldn't fathom what is likely the reality here -- that someone was just pumping your email thru AI and pumping the response back unedited and unsanitized, and so the first thing you got back was just the first "part" of the AI response.
...Christ.
1) Coming off as a jerk, and from a new account is a bad look
2) "Literally the opposite of a coin flip" would probably be either 0% or 100%
3) Your reasoning doesn't stand up without further info; it entirely depends on the sample size. I could have 5 coin flips all come up heads, but over thousands or millions it averages to 50%. 56% on a small sample size is absolutely within margin of error/noise. 56% on a MASSIVE sample size is _statistically_ significant, but isn't even still that much to brag about for something that I feel like they probably intended to be a big step forward.

The most value from this article is the clickbait title yielding some interesting discussion from people on that question outside of the actual article contents.
This article isn’t bad but the name is terrible and a bit clickbaity
Just having a virtual environment and requirements.txt alone would solve 90% of this article.
Also with python 3.12 you literally CANT install python packages at the system level. Giant full page warning saying “use a venv you idiot”
I expected something along these lines and was still disappointed by TFA
It takes me maybe 10min when I get a new computer (usually Mac) to have Oh My Zsh and Powerlevel10k installed on my machine, configure p10k with the awesome setup wizard, change to my coding font, and tweak my background and foreground to dark teal/off-white. After that I never have to touch it again and it looks amazing for the rest of my working days. The default PS1 mods from p10k giving me directory context, info on k8s, docker, and python venv, along with info on last run cmd like exit code and runtime, are all just so valuable and I got them for basically free.
I can understand not wanting to constantly tweak it and I agree with that but I would have to disagree that making any customization is a waste of time.
I worked at a place that stressed this at company meetings - “no holding doors, if someone says they forgot their badge don’t let them in etc”
At one meeting the CEO got up and talked and praised one of the employees because they actually did this to him, the CEO; shut the door in his face made him walk back to his car to get his badge. Was very funny to see a place actually walk the talk on this.
Overall though of course you’re right. People are going to be nice and you can’t stop it.
> The bill [...] would prohibit the company's products from operating on U.S. communications infrastructure. It would not prevent existing DJI drones from operating in the United States.
How could existing drones continue operating while prohibited from comms infra? Does anyone have a link to the actual bill or some other source that goes into more detail? I have multiple DJI drones and would like to know how this affects me since I was planning to upgrade soon...
It was all great until you got here. This is a big red flag for me for a teammate.
