I have an old Belkin USB 2.0 switch from god-knows when that works beautifully. I use it to share a hub with a keyboard and mouse attached. I’ve given up trying to find a 4K60 x2 DisplayPort KVM that doesn’t suck.
I agree about not getting an ARM Mac on launch day, for the reasons you’ve cited. But I have a 2015 Pro for work, and a 2020 Air for myself. The Air is a fantastic machine, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it again, even after the ARM announcement.
If I had to judge between whether I wanted TikTok or corporate email on my phone, it wouldn't be just about the email. I could live without that. What I really liked, especially back when we actually went into offices, was that I had my calendar available without opening up my laptop, and that it showed the next place I needed to be right on my wrist.
Personally, I hope that someone acquires the museum as a whole and relocates it further up into downtown. The current location is in SoDo amongst a bunch of warehouses, with a crummy parking lot and is not very well served by transit. It'd be a great complement to something like Seattle Center, in downtown near Westlake Park / monorail, or even somewhere on/near the UW campus.
Uhaul allows pickup via app now. Not as smooth as Zipcar, but it does work. The added $1/mile adds up super quick though, and seems antiquated compared to all other types of car rental.
A RAW photo (raw input from the camera sensor, without processing) can often be used in post production to get more range out of a photo than would be possible with a JPEG. One of my desktop backgrounds I often use was actually quite overexposed due to the sun shining through trees. I was able to correct for it in Lightroom and it's now one of my favorite shots.
Same. I had some taken at a local store, and thought they came out terribly. Not worth the money at all. Set up my DSLR in the kitchen on a tripod, digitally placed 2 right-sized copies on a 4x6, and printed them at the drugstore for less than a quarter. I used decent equipment, but a modern phone these days will take an acceptable photo. (In fact, I just searched the iOS App Store at there’s at least a few apps that claim to make acceptable photos.)
You definitely don’t want a $30k Skyhawk. Flight schools snap up the good ones very quickly, and all you will find at that price are ones with run out engines and 10k hours. A $30k 150/152 though... that’s a good deal.
I too was rocking the Skylake series (6600K for me though). However, I upgraded for two reasons - I went to the 3700X for twice as many cores, and the 6th gen Intel series can’t keep up with h265 like 7th gen plus.
WSL 1 and Expo don’t play nice with each other; Expo was causing ephemeral port exhaustion and making both Windows and Linux unusable. WSL 2 should fix, but I don’t want to jump to an insider build quite yet.
Yes, that’s at BFI. Before production was halted, Boeing kept building planes for months and months. They’ve stuck MAXes all over the Pacific Northwest in what feels like any available space connected to a runway.
I’ve recently taken to trying an Ubuntu Hyper-V VM, VS Code, and the new Terminal preview as an experimentation platform for use with Expo. It’s solid. The hardware (Ryzen 3700X+32G) was relatively cheap, and it’s working quite well. If I was Apple, I’d be concerned - I was going to upgrade my 2012 Mac Mini, but I now don’t see the rush.
People do that every day. Ever bought a mobile phone? You only get software updates for a few years at most, and I don’t think any phones from 25 years ago are usable today due to old networks being shut down. Some of the devices being deprecated pre-date the iPhone!
There are. Bose hardware (both the QC35II and SoundSport headset I've tried) handle this beautifully. They've also had audio sharing between multiple headsets working for years, which my partner and I have used numerous times while traveling.
