Are you ok?

Facebook and Google were one of the first major online services offering an "takeout" feature in service of data portability. FB had multiple rss feeds. It's graph API was around quite early due to demand.

It's fixed enough for how much they want it to be fixed (I.e. how much they are being paid to fix it)
bryan_w··on 'People are going to get screwed' Pennsylvania voters unite against data centres
Exactly this.

If people were just honest with their objections, then we could be unified, but currently we're fighting misinformation that are trying to stop 5MW computer closets and projects that are trying to be a drop in replacement for a _steel mill_ (which should be an automatic approval)

bryan_w··on The internet is kind of a predatory cesspit now
If you go to doomer places on the internet (this thread included), you will see the internet as doomed

There's another account that I thought was something like @stopdatacenters but I'm having trouble finding it atm

bryan_w··on Nashville uses eminent domain to block data center near zoo
This is about a DC in Nashville -- it is on the Cumberland river.
bryan_w··on Nashville uses eminent domain to block data center near zoo
Is this DC even for LLMs? I've not seen any sign of that.

Considering that the initial build out was only 10MW, it seems unlikely that was the primary usecase.

bryan_w··on No Data Centers in My Backyard
They allow the "infrasound" people go unchecked even though they are basically the same as the tin foil hatters.
bryan_w··on Nashville uses eminent domain to block data center near zoo
One of the guys leading the effort is active on threads (probably twitter too). He has no interest in negotiating. He is gloating over his win hardcore and has very absolutist views when it comes to datacenters
bryan_w··on Waymo in Dallas
You fell for some kid's story and should feel bad for repeating it unsubstantiated.
bryan_w··on Waymo in Dallas
Why don't you think waymo is liable? Who else would be responsible for an accident in one of their cars?
bryan_w··on Zitron: "Everyone Has Been Sold a Lie" on AI [video]
Good point. We can always point to Naomi Wu as an real life example of why China is NOT living in the future. She is a good example of why we would never want to replicate what China is doing
bryan_w··on Our position on open-weights models
Yeah, you can tell by the tone that none of this is authentic. A lot of the replies aren't even responding to the article itself, just repeating from a list of grievances
bryan_w··on AI companies are shredding rare books

In their world, everyone everywhere is corrupt. This saves them from having to deal with nuance and other such difficult topics
bryan_w··on Mark Zuckerberg's biggest legal nightmare yet could cost Meta $1.4T
Indeed it would be silly to prosecute the record execs because they found a report called "what are the youths listening to" or even with the video game moral panic of the 90s, going after game companies because they found a report titled "Is Laura Croft setting unrealistic beauty standards for teens" at gamedev companies
bryan_w··on County with 37 Data Centers Asks Schools to 'Conserve Electricity'
> I appreciate 404 media's mission but

Really makes you think: should you really support efforts like this when there are better and more honest groups out there? (Cough EFF *cough)

bryan_w··on County with 37 Data Centers Asks Schools to 'Conserve Electricity'
You're assuming these people know what a lobbyist does beyond the edgey cynical definition they learned about when they were 13.
bryan_w··on County with 37 Data Centers Asks Schools to 'Conserve Electricity'
> poor journalism.

404 media has never been interested in being good journalism, but rather driving signups to to their website by people who don't know what proper journalism looks like
