brotherjerky··on Samsung Acquires Joyent
So the biggest phone manufacturer now owns a lot of Node.js expertise. Hopefully that leads to more JS in mobile!
brotherjerky··on How Uber Is Changing Drug Dealing
This seems like a non-story, the article even mentions how people used taxis before.
brotherjerky··on Jury in Oracle v. Google finds in Google's favour
This is fantastic news!
brotherjerky··on He Got Greedy: How the U.S. Government Hunted Encryption Programmer Paul Le Roux
I assume the original comment you wrote was edited, because this reply makes no sense otherwise.
brotherjerky··on ReachNow – BMW car sharing service in Seattle
Just signed up. I really wish this extended to the east side, I would use it for my daily commute.
brotherjerky··on React v15.0
Great to see React continue to improve and streamline as new versions come out. They've managed to avoid the huge bloat that happens to frameworks as they age. Kudos.
brotherjerky··on Punch Club has been pirated over 1M times
Assuming you weren't making a joke, the article clearly states that the piracy is coming from Brazil, not Portugal.
brotherjerky··on Ask HN: How much do you make at Amazon? Here is how much I make at Amazon
Wow, you got a bump in 2015 and went somewhere with lower cost of living (plus no state income tax). That's definitely a win-win.
brotherjerky··on Show HN: Convenient web rss-reader
Thanks for releasing this!

Anyone know if there is a Docker container for this app? I've found Docker to be a great tool for trying server apps out without littering my system with extra installations.

brotherjerky··on Letters Helped Challenger Shuttle Engineer Shed 30 Years of Guilt
Yes, this is what I meant to reference. Thanks.

brotherjerky··on Fundraising Advice for YC Companies
I really appreciate that a document like this is public. It would be very easy to send this out via private email list or internal wiki. Cheers for sharing!
brotherjerky··on Delivering Octicons with SVG
SVG support is nearly universal now: http://caniuse.com/#feat=svg -- plus, the icons aren't necessary for the UI to function, so perhaps they've forgone the fallback.
brotherjerky··on Stock Plan Used by Hundreds of YC Companies
Cashless exercise is one of those things that costs the company very little, but is incredibly advantageous for the employee.

However, companies don't always love it, because it removes a lot of the "golden handcuffs" that serve as a shady way to retain employees as valuation climbs.

brotherjerky··on A Long Game
This is quite long, but very interesting. Make sure you check out part 2 here: http://techcrunch.com/2016/01/29/nothing-like-this-has-ever-...
brotherjerky··on San Francisco tech worker: 'I don't want to see homeless riff-raff'
What a clickbait-y headline, makes the original author sound insensitive when he's trying to shame public officials into action to help the homeless. (Not that the messaging or content is perfect, but the title is definitely trying to fit a narrative)
brotherjerky··on The Leica Q: A six month field test
I love how thorough and thoughtful this article is, especially since it's on a personal web site. Reminds me of what the web used to be, before big clickbait sites took over. Just someone writing at length about something they are passionate about.
brotherjerky··on Giphy Closes $55M Series C at a $300M Post-Money Valuation
It's a fun product, but won't they run into copyright issues if it gets big? Seems like all the content is owned by others, and I'm not sure it counts as fair use.
brotherjerky··on Serverless WSGI with AWS Lambda and API Gateway
This seems very cool. Is it possible to develop locally offline? Or do you always need a connection?
