I started eating vegan every other day for almost the whole year now

By generating text from AI, evaluating it, and piecing it together with other AI generated text.

In my experience, I've developed closer chemistry and more socialization with my team while we've been fully remote, than when we were in person. There is a generation right behind you that is raised on socializing online, that may find it more rewarding than you're willing to.

I already use gpt3 in my daily life to refine details for things I'm building for work, and to advance personal goals. If you give AI all the pertinent requirements, it's great at coming up with solutions. That's despite the fact these early language models are optimized for coherency and not correctness. So I wouldn't think we're too far off from waking you up.

One of my teammates is like this. He's brilliant, though. Sometimes it feels like part of my job as team lead is to act as his memory.

The code your dealing with is probably deterministic. The answer is in the code. Read the code. Run a mental model. Use your creativity, imagine edge cases to the code you see, and investigate what would happen and if that is what is happening. Rinse, repeat.

It's unclear in this comment if you are lumping them together, but GeForce Now's performance and stream quality is leagues ahead of Stadia's. As someone who exclusively games on the cloud. My main driver, though, is ShadowPC, which gives me dual monitors, 4k, and full desktop access (for modding etc) on a stream

One problem you are facing is that you are missing 2 important steps:

4) Gauge the reaction 5) Go back to Step 1

Nobody just comes up with a persuasive message and delivers it in one-shot. These people are good at iterating conversations towards a goal.

I personally find it hard to ask for more or job hop because I think we tech workers overpaid. It feels greedy or unethical especially when i compare myself to similarly hard working or top performing peers in other engineering fields and other industries, who do seemingly more important work than me, but get paid less than half of what i get already.

I agree with this. Don't give demands, give reasoning and examples.

The absolute first thing to do is get a resist magicka spell, and the boots of blinding speed!

But a company will not usually downward adjust your salary during years of deflation. I think there is some risk management involved.

As an engineer, I have never worked under a manager who wasn't previously an engineer. YMMV

I would love some proof that all the computers that power all the bank and credit transactions, and all the financial derivatives they produce, don't add up to the power consumption of crypto.

Then I would take into account how PoS would affect this in the future, as crypto is a technology that is meant to be built on, evolved, upgraded, and replaced by something better. Like money.

Then probably ask which system is more democratic in its distribution and transparency of the money, and I would bet that system would finance less legacy climate destroying industries
