However, as this is the internet, until news breaks otherwise I will continue to believe that Hanlon's razor applies here...
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
There is in fact a job out there that actually entails supporting and nurturing a community and its vitally important to the health of online communities (not firms dressed up as 'communities').
The best example I can think of is the work Heather Champ did at flickr: http://www.sfgate.com/business/article/Nasty-as-they-wanna-b...
This doesn't even get into new arrivals like Magnussen and his amazing debut. This season is far from over and getting more interesting by the day.
Edit: Also, I can't easily find where to turn them on or off, and if its available I'm having difficulty figuring out how to delete my account.
Edit 2: Done being blinded email rage, I located the notifications control panel which is relatively obvious (so facepalm for me there), however, having searched the site it does not appear as easy to delete my account altogether.
Mail to yourself. Email subject is the main idea. Each new idea gets its own email thread. Reply to email thread when you have things to add or docs/imgs to attach to the original idea
The whole thing is tagable, sortable by date, and searchable. You can even hide the label from the inbox if you prefer that.
That said, we're in an interesting part of the law's implementation. If you live in one of the 26-33(?) states who have currently declined to operate all or part of their own exchange (exchanges in these cases will be operated by the federal government) your state also lost some of the federal funding that was intended for use in spreading awareness and helping people to "navigate" the sign-up and purchasing process of the exchange. The worry thereafter is that if not enough people enroll through the exchanges they may not have enough leverage to keep costs down.
Add to this the idea that some state governments are actively dragging their feet with the implementation of anything exchange related (enrollment starts in October and my state has next to no information out there on the process yet) and we get the potential for messiness.
In my case, I still dream of single payer.
Disclaimer: Typing off the cuff, not a health insurance administrator, etc...
*For those interested in more about how the exchanges are progressing, I find the website of the Kaiser Family Foundation to be excellent:

Should I choose pursue an art as my vocation or start a company I'd have to be willing to endure a lag in my insurance until whatever I was pursuing became successful enough that I was eligible to be covered by a trade group or had enough revenue to buy health insurance.
Guaranteed, affordable health coverage not tied to an employer or a spouse would remove a incredible burden from my life.
Sure I move around enough in ruby and python enough to make the pretty face I've designed work with the app and I certainly don't consider myself technical if asked, but I seem to be lightyears beyond the business or ideas person on the building side of things.
More than a superficial designer, less than a front end developer is one of the strangest places to be.
