I think we're just going to have to pay for privacy. If it's important, and scarce, it will be up for sale. All societal social values and morals will be commoditized and assessed for purchase. No one is smart enough to know why this is antithetical to their society's interests.
The goal of the institution is to objectify those who command its hierarchy. It's assumed to be possible to do. And in this assumption, we are led to be hopeful for an enduring service.
I have no doubt. That's why I said 'mostly'. It's a cold. A bad one, for some. Mostly, we perform the act of the pandemic. The acts offer confidence to the neurotic.
I guess that was a bit terse. NPR did a series called 'nice white parents' that went over some of these issues. But, the central question is basically "what is the goal here" . Do kids belong to the state, and the state decides what's best? (and what's involved there) Do kids belong to the parents, and parents decide what's best? What is education? Do we want them job ready? What if these are zero sum games. etc.
I'm not sure if this is interesting to anyone. But, I wanted something a bit more lightweight, so, I'm writing my own kinda/sorta Drogon thing. It's using git and cmake to (hopefully) serve as a better library management system. Here's the 'app' I'm devoloping: https://github.com/brighton36/vuecrudd and here's the project itself: https://github.com/brighton36/prails
I'm starting to think a lot of schemes at the federal level (patent, copyright, securities law, trademark, etc) are robbing these conservative states of opportunity. In the op's proposed system, it's probable that wealth can be generated through better competition in these regulatory systems.
Most of the product that schools offer, is in teaching 'propriety'. This is their function as an obedience academy. This requires bodies in seats, and it requires a dissemination of what ignorances students are socially required to bear.
