breadandcrumbel··on Congressman's phone password is 111111
In a normal company, if an employee have bad practice for data protection and cyber security he might get fired

But what happen when it's a congressman?

We start to see now more and more data breaches that happens due to lack of basic knowledge in this subject....

Just 3 days ago was reveal that Equifax used 'admin' as username and password for sensitive data. ( https://finance.yahoo.com/news/equifax-password-username-adm...? )

In this case I'm sure that the IT person who's in charge for the system just give zero value to data protection and cyber security....

>According to an industry report by Shred-it, 47% of business leaders cited human error as the main cause of a data breach at their organization

https://www.perimeter81.com/blog/network/how-employees-open-...

Leave beside the fact that someone in this position should have better understanding of cyber security

I wonder if they get any kind of training from the government.

breadandcrumbel··on Apple Pay Overtakes Starbucks as Most Popular Mobile Payment Platform in the US
It’s surprising that Apple Pay works at a variety of stores as opposed to just one but it still took this long to become more popular than the Starbucks app. I personally still only use the Starbucks app as Apple Pay still doesn’t work with my credit union.

breadandcrumbel··on Superior IQs associated with mental and physical disorders, research suggests
Could this be caused by people with higher IQ being more honest and knowledgeable about things?

The average person has undiagnosed issues. They may have a mood disorder, but either deny that they have something wrong with them or have never bothered to have it checked out?

Compared to people who care enough to officially test their IQ. I argue that more people in a group like Mensa are more aware of their diagnosis' than the average person.

breadandcrumbel··on Why Are Some Societies More Entrepreneurial than Others?
In the last few years I had the chance to live in Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Perth, Sofia and Tel Aviv

From all of those cities Amsterdam and Tel Aviv a lot more innovative and the number of entrepreneurs was high (at least felt like it)

I think that there are few criterions that a city need to have to become a tech hub

- Relatively small city - Society who worship startups and entrepreneurs - Many Programmers and engineers (In Israel every 4 months few hundred talented programmers are releasing from the top units in the Israel Defence Forces, bringing high quality manpower to the ecosystem)

There are probably more criterions, those are just few I thought about now

breadandcrumbel··on Improving cloud security and productivity through IP whitelisting
From my experience people usually use IP whitelisting to prevent spam filters from blocking their messages.

I can see the reason behind using this approach for productivity.

It saves time and hassle for site admins

breadandcrumbel··on Most of the Mind Can’t Tell Fact from Fiction
I find these kinds of articles fascinating

It reminds me when I read that ee can only dream of faces we've seen in the past, whether we actively remember them or not. The brain cannot invent these.

breadandcrumbel··on Google to pay $1B in France to settle fiscal fraud probe
Agree Because those companies are public the fine might have greater impact But overall, when you know you can pay the fine, you are less afraid to take those risks

You can compare it to entrepreneur from a wealthy family

He can take risks, knowing that if he fail, it won't be to the ground

breadandcrumbel··on The World Wastes Tons of Food. A Grocery ‘Happy Hour’ Is One Answer
There won't be any answer. People will continue waste food as the world population grows

You know why?

Because most of the people don't care Even the ones who do are sometimes too lazy to care

Our society built in a way it's just simple to waste food

You throw and forget

I don't know what's the answer but I'm sure that it will come from the tech world

I'm not an expert in economy but it just shows that there's a monopoly in the internet industry in Germany

It doesn't make any sense that a country so developed will have a slow internet.
