No idea if the things it's telling me are true or not, but that doesn't matter quite as much in this case.

I'm not sure this is a given. Tons of brilliant developers (myself included) build complex products without having ever considered the market, or just assuming that users will come out of the woodwork if it's technically awesome enough.
Seems to me that if a founder doesn't have immediate answers to some of these "existential questions", that's a red flag right there.
The toughest part that comes to mind would be particular spices. You would probably need to start borrowing words to distinguish between things like thyme and rosemary ("namako Tin", "namako Loseli")
Have the folks who think that apartments are noisy just never lived in apartment? Or is my experience the skewed one?
Android already does this at the top of the applications list, just not directly on the home screen.
It does support fuzzy matching, so you could always type "rmt" in place of "remind me to" and so forth.
You can use it like Spotlight (type to search), but then you have options beyond just opening - you can move files, or complete reminders, or create events. Or you can use it closer to Siri (but with a keyboard), and type in a natural-language command.
