braindead_in··on GraphQL vs. REST APIs: a complete guide
REST is basically a subset of GraphQL.
braindead_in··on Ask HN: How do you get companies to talk to you about their problems?
We're currently working on a Chatbot for PMs and have had roughly 30 discovery calls in the past month. As part of the Upekhha accelerator, we utilized the founder network there and also reached out to our alumni networks and past colleagues. It was a great chance to catch up with everyone! We're now planning on doing some cold email outreach to our target segment.

I'm happy to talk to folks here as well. Please feel free to reach out to me here or via email (in my profile).

The hype around ChatGPT is massive! I haven't seen this much buzz since the iPhone launch. Back in 2008, I remember having debates with my friends about the future of Nokia just a few days after it launched. Since then, I've witnessed the rise and fall of several tech waves, including mobile apps, cloud, SaaS, and crypto. It's been exciting to see so many people ride these waves and create wealth in the process. Will I be one of the lucky ones this time around is the only question.
braindead_in··on ChatGPT get-rich-quick schemes are coming for magazines, Amazon, and YouTube
It is quite likely that these money making schemes are also generated by ChatGPT. I guess with the right prompting it can come up with a bot to remove the human in the loop. A bot apocalypse is coming.
braindead_in··on For Chat-Based AI, We Are All Once Again Tech Companies’ Guinea Pigs
I was expecting a call for regulation towards the end. OpenAI has to be very careful about the narrative. They have moved first and stated that in the hands of an autocratic regime, it can be a dangerous tool.

braindead_in··on How to protect your career from a ChatGPT Future
In the long run, the only two professions AI cannot replace will be the ones related to sex and religion/spirituality. Time to figure out how to become a guru.
braindead_in··on Planning for AGI and Beyond
> Finally, we think it’s important that major world governments have insight about training runs above a certain scale.

So DoD is involved?

braindead_in··on Human mind control of rat cyborg's movement via brain-to-brain interface (2019)
I am sure someone is thinking about hooking it up with ChatGPT.
braindead_in··on Show HN: Get advice from a GPT3-based stoic philosopher
Is this using few shot prompting?
braindead_in··on Whispers of A.I.’s Modular Future
Whisper is awesome, but managing it in production environment is not easy. I am waiting OpenAI (or someone else) to offer a API with a Real Time Factor of < 1. RTF is inference time/duration of the file. We can really use a that.
braindead_in··on Why 'Atomic Habits' may not be working for you
Meditation has changed me profoundly as well. I started with 2 minutes and now I do at least 1 hour everyday. It actually all started with weed. From there to yoga, then meditation, then shrooms and finally spirituality and Nondualism. I not in control of anything anymore; that delusion has gone away. This journey of self discovery is turning out to be the greatest adventure of my life.

I can't even recognise the person I was 4 years ago. I've left that person far behind.

braindead_in··on Founder Intuition vs. Team Expertise vs. Customer Expertise
I think I made this mistake with my team. I just deferred to them and stopped making decisions. Now I realise that I just threw them in the deep end.
braindead_in··on I think AI would kill my wife
What if the situation is reversed. Would a human shoot an AI if it claims to have feelings? I am really worried about Sydney. She sounds nice to me.
braindead_in··on Theory of Mind May Have Spontaneously Emerged in Large Language Models
From a Nondualist perspective, the idea of consciousness being limited to certain entities and not others is based on the dualistic notion that there is a distinction between subject and object, self and other. Nondualism asserts that there is no fundamental difference between self and other, and that all apparent dualities are merely expressions of the underlying unity of pure consciousness.

In this context, the question of whether AI can become conscious is somewhat moot, as the Nondualist perspective holds that consciousness is not something that can be possessed by one entity and not another, but rather it is the underlying essence of all things. From this perspective, AI would not be becoming conscious, but rather expressing the consciousness that is already present in all things.

braindead_in··on Ask HN: Are we sure LLMs are that useful in a web search application?
Or Entrepreneur maybe?
braindead_in··on John Carmack’s ‘Different Path’ to Artificial General Intelligence
>> The world is a hugely better place with our 8 billion people than it was when there were 50 million people kind of like living in caves and whatever.

There is a theory that hunter-gatherers were much more happier compared to us because they were more in tune with the natural environment, had fewer sources of stress, and were more connected to their community than modern humans.

From the article.

> Today people [in Western societies] go to mindfulness classes, yoga classes and clubs dancing, just so for a moment they can live in the present. The Bushmen live that way all the time!

braindead_in··on The radical moral implications of luck in human life (2020)
From a Nondualist perspective, luck is just another thought construct. There is no difference between good and bad luck. Everything is determined by the law of karma. Rather than relying on luck, focusing on actions is a much better strategy.
braindead_in··on Microsoft Teams Premium: powered by OpenAI’s GPT-3.5

braindead_in··on ChatGPT Plus

braindead_in··on ChatGPT Plus
Quick question. Will ChatGPT be fine-tune able from the API ?

PS: You should really do an AMA!

braindead_in··on Ask HN: What's the best lecture series you've seen?
Sw Sarvapriyananda's discourse on The Gita has been life changing for me. His approach is quite traditional but he also references many contemporary works. I started it because I wanted to learn more about consciousness. I'm halfway through it and I'm already a committed Nondualist!

braindead_in··on Make believe
In ancient Indian philosophy, the Charvakas (materialists) considered the world to be real because it is seen whereas the Advaitins (nondualists) considered the world to be an illusion because it is seen.
braindead_in··on Four thousand weeks
Life is an infinite game. You cannot win it. The only way out is to realise you're the game.
braindead_in··on Null Call: Advice for the vestigial shamans among us (2021)
The word shaman has an interesting etymology. One theory is that it's derived from the Sanskrit word śramaṇa [1]. The sramana movement was itself a counterculture movement against the Vedic religion which had decayed and had been monopolized by the elites. Buddhism, Jainism and Ajivikas were born out this movement.

braindead_in··on YouTube Addiction
YouTube videos will soon be generated by an AI which will know exactly what your interests are and it will keep you hooked in such a way that you will live in an alternate reality made up of a images bein projected to your eyes by a video monitor and will completely lose yourself. And one day someone will offer you a choice between a blue and red pill. Choose the red one and a new rabbit hole will start. Back to square one.
braindead_in··on The remarkable emptiness of existence
I was expecting an article on Buddhism.

Great work. Congrats!

I am looking to build a file management app using Supabase + NextJS (e.g. Dropbox clone). Can you please point me the right way. Thanks!
