bokohut··on Is your electric bill going up? AI is partly to blame
Yes, timing and location is everything and some impacts can never be changed. In this case the planet's tilt cannot be changed which is reducing our daily PV output in aligned conjunction with increased mileage traveled via electric mobility.

This alert is also a false positive because while they are reporting our increased draw within a set interval they are not front loading the alert logic check against our existing overage credit balance from back feeding our surplus. This then asks the question should the alert logic only occur on increased usage that I pay for or should they also take into consideration my credit before alerting me? My increased usage costs nothing when I have an overage credit as my power company PV agreement is 1 to 1.

bokohut··on Is your electric bill going up? AI is partly to blame
Received an email from our East Coast USA centralized power provider about 2 hours ago now in a very obnoxiously large BOLDED email font stating "Your electricity use is projected to be 35% higher this billing period".

My 'who you know' management people at this power provider have expressed a severe growing backlog of unpaid bills in our talks and as a result they have had to change their policy around cutoffs. More alarming is their need to bring law enforcement with them to residences now for power cutoffs that have reached an unpaid threshold above some normal classification, and yes violence against the power company employees only doing their job is growing given the culmination of economic events creating this situation. Consider your own reaction if you haven't paid your electrical bills for many months and you see the power company pull up to your residence to pull your meter thus leaving you in the dark and cold. Violence against power companies employees is growing although it has not yet reached news worthy status but just give it time.

My opening statement represents the power company's changes to communicate your consumption and how it will impact your personal finances at month's end in order to get in front of all those in society that are reactive, which is most folks. As a highly proactive futurist four years ago now I installed BIPV and batteries taking advantage of the U.S. and Maryland governments monetary kickbacks so while some here see me as the problem my 35% increase this month is minuscule given having nearly no electric bill through PV and significant efficiency improvements to my residence.

Time is one's most valuable asset and many waste their time to then only complain about their situation. I would encourage everyone to get in front of your dependencies and work daily to reduce or eliminate them and this approach will return more of one's time, something that cannot be bought.

bokohut··on Maryland, July 2025: Sales and Use Tax on Data or Info Tech Svcs and Soft Svcs [pdf]
I wanted to take this opportunity to share this recent law that passed within the State of Maryland USA that will likely irritate many a technology business owner in this ever evolving world of more and more tech. IANAL so gauge your own impacts if you do work within the State of Maryland offering technology services. My opinions are my own but those here within that have vast technological experience, years beyond the comprehension of those making these laws, I await to read your feedback. Page 10, 11, and 12 have the definition of services now taxed.

Good, bad, or indifferent it is now a law and in reading this several times as an impacted business owner I can certainly read in between the lines where the "grey areas" reside as subjective interpretation. Lawyers are likely going to be busy with this one as well.

bokohut··on Ask HN: How do you get over the fear of sharing code?
Old head engineering serial founder here with a partial grey beard that from reading the comments herein sees myself and my security practices as an edge case, an experienced lonely outlier it appears.

First to the OP mentions about schooling experiences which struck a nerve with me, I would add that in my 4th year of College programming classes; Assembly and C, I too helped the other 6 people in my class while in the computer lab. This was the 1990s long before the dotcom boom and classes were very small in software development, folks even laughed at me for taking programming then however they do not laugh at me now. The point in this paragraph is that I too had my entire projects stolen and turned in verbatim by 3 others in my class and the professor, who was a systems programmer at Bank of America at the time, knew whose work they had turned in since I was the only person in class that understood it. She spoke to me in private and advised me to not share my code with anyone and dumbass me should have carried that forward into the real world then.

Code theft has been a thing since code was first written and this should be no surprise when most people have no idea how to formulate large sets of code into a unified function for business let alone the time it takes to write and prove that approach. I started writing software professionally in the 1990s and was the architect and sole developer of a payment processors gateway that had PayPal and several other Fortune 500 clients for many years. My company acquired another small entity within this time and unknown to us our action of interest proved to be the point of proof needed to set in motion a lawsuit from an outside third party. That third party claimed that the acquired owner and his business we bought stole their code which in time laid the interest for us to acquire that business. 10 years later and after many a court hearing that acquired owner lost the lawsuit after he was proven to have stolen the code and built a business making significant revenue from that stolen code. He was fined 5+ MM USD and had his wages garnished which he likely is still paying to this day. Yes, code theft is a real thing but many here likely have no idea.

Fast forward some time later after I had entirely rewrote my intellectual property from the ground up again into version 5 and I founded another payment processor with my intellectual property work, Yup, that code was then too stolen and used to build yet another competing business by a former business partner that felt he was entitled to my intellectual property. Yes, code theft is a real thing or maybe it is just me?

A few weeks back I attended a patent meeting discussion North of Washington DC that had several tens of people there, many younger than myself. The lawyers running the presentation were cracking jokes about the current and coming tsunami of lawsuits involving A.I. code theft and after the presentation over half the people there in discussion groups stated they were attending in an attempt to patent their A.I. solutions. The lawyers very clearly stated that they would most likely be wasting their time and money as the courts were now wise to the trolls that have no intention of applying the patent they seek to a use other than just blanket patenting mass ideas in a hope to cash in on a patent lawsuit down the line.

After nearly 30 years of doing this it has taken many scars to understand the correct approach to protect my intellectual property that is still powering past payments companies of which I founded and built. I am now applying those lessons in a way for my next venture that will ensure only I can execute my ideas with my code since the world is overrun with many liars and cheats that now exist only to claim others work as their own in hopes to get rich easily from all the big tech hysteria and FOMO. I will continue on doing what I do using my old school proven ways to build what I am building now that continues to excite me even more with each passing day as that idea manifests into my next business venture that everyone alive will need, energy storage.

Your mileage will vary greatly from my own but I leave everyone with this point to think on; why hasn't Coke published their recipe on a publicly open forum? Code is just a recipe after all but maybe it's really the chef that matters?

bokohut··on I may have found a way to spot U.S. at-sea strikes before they're announced
The operation efforts of distraction are very very real however what has never ceased to amaze me about the U.S. governments lack of "intelligence" is why they do not take the same approach in hiding the gas stations in the sky. Some here may have seen this distraction as it occurred and given enough exposure to said data, aka experience, when an event occurs it certainly stands out as an obvious data pattern anomaly against what is normal. The old magicians trick of distraction however some here are old and wise enough to know the elephant did not disappear. ADSB data is an amazing thing and the fact the the U.S. government pays to keep in suppressed should be an indicator towards its revealing power. What you cannot see matters most and the world is coming to learn this with each passing day.
bokohut··on Samsung's $2000 smart fridges are getting ads
I cannot disagree at all with this statement however I ask what about those connected devices that have no displays but still exist in our world "unseen"?

Take for example the Kohler poo cam announced a few weeks back that has no screen but maybe they secretly included a small speaker that after a firmware update will plop ads on bowl users if management is not seeing the profits from selling only the hardware. Won't that be some funny sh!t?

Or how about brain implant computers, so I ask where will the line be drawn when more and more profit at any cost appears to be the M.O.

Exciting times as connected technology that can see and hear gets smaller and smaller while battery power to weight ratio increases allowing these devices longer and longer life in secluded places.

bokohut··on Power over Ethernet (PoE) basics and beyond
Quite the mix of comments in 2025 from something that has existed and been foundationally critical in many unseen systems.

I designed and built my first POE system in 2004, at my own house as a dogfooding POC, and that system stills works to this day. Since that time I have built and installed many more without issue that continue to move along doing what they were intended to do, protect life and property via recording activity privately. My own home footage has been called upon several times by law enforcement and was critical in convicting at least one home break in crew.

The benefit of install is simple to comprehend for those with significant experience in the electrical field, run one small wire for data and power and ensure the POE supply is on a battery - done. Additionally I add those using WiFi for security are laughed at daily as losses pile up, web search MLB player home break-ins, as running a hardline cannot be jammed but many foolishly put all their assets solely behind WiFi security. Also these surveillance systems require no external cloud by design so no one is watching remotely, unlike the Fed and State viewing your Ring cameras for years and now which recently partnered with Flocker. No one cares more about you than you so if someone is selling you security ask yourself what it is you are actually paying for.

In closing, as we move into a new era of technological efficiency forced by rising energy prices and costly electrician labor hours, one is going to witness an uptake of POE adoption in more and more nontraditional places. It is already happening and its moment will come as more recognize the cost benefit to this greatly simplified power delivery method with integrated battery backup.

bokohut··on StarGrid: A new Palm OS strategy game
Yes, nostalgia. This teleported me mentally back to the 1990s as I love seeing the old things resurface, that pattern and cycle thing that always holds true.

I recall sitting in board meetings playing games between other tech members as we had written simple games using the earliest means of direct connect device communication well before this was common. With the introduction of the Palm VII having the first mobile cellular smart device available and being a payment processor to large dotcoms at the time we of course we would also move into mobile payments on that Palm VII. This was yet another idea well before its time but it was fun working through the engineering issues of doing payments over cellular as well as satellite long ago. I still have NIB Palm VIIs with NIB payment cradles on my tech shelf of history, maybe some day I will dig them out again to play for inspiration and curiosity.

bokohut··on How Soon Will the Seas Rise?
This is already happening along the internal Eastern Shore exposed to the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland were I live and it is documented in recent publications by those accredited in such topics. The low lying wet forests that have lived just above the salt line are now all dying from the rising salt water intrusion. I have one of those low lying forests right behind my property and in the last 10 years I have witnessed all the trees within this area die. As an avid walker of these shores near daily in the last 15 years I have also witnessed unprecedented erosion of the shoreline of at least two vertical feet thus extending the beaches however these are not those types of beaches.

As a collector of things lost in time, such as Native American artifacts of which I have found thousands immediately around me in the last 15 years, I can say that erosion does have its benefits. Just as we are now reading from those exploring glaciers finding previous human tools and more. The word "benefit" here is clearly subjective.

bokohut··on Leveling Up My Homelab
I too am preparing for an entire rebuild of my home lab so the posting of this information is greatly appreciated at this time.

My home lab has been rebuilt 3 times in the last 20 years and the continuous mention of energy usage within this post is a main driver and one of several primary objectives towards my effort. My 36U rack as configured now with Dell Servers having Intel Xeons E chips has served me well for all the tech stuff that interests me both in hobby and profession. My entire setup now with all devices running draws 200 watts continuously and my existing home energy renewables generation and battery storage system will greatly benefit from this home lab rebuild as I am targeting energy use and floor area recovery outright while learning many new things as well. This rebuild is also a lead into my fourth tech company I'm starting so my motivation is strongly tied to many factors not discussed.

Looking forward to the future posts, Stay Healthy!

bokohut··on 3M May Escape Toxic Chemical, PFAS Manufacturing Legacy
I would encourage every single person reading this to have your water tested for PFAs.

Several years ago now an executive friend at WLGore, yes the very place that created it, gave me some information in passing. It was the kind of information in hearing from one someone you know that makes one pause for a moment in hearing it but then when one considers time against the statement it became less alarming in that moment. Now years of time have passed since that conversation occurred and the statements have manifested into reality.

I live literally down stream from WLGore and they have been dumping the toxins in the waterway for decades. Our local jurisdictions have been talking on PFAs for a few years now and in January of this year my time was up on my friends statement made years prior. I spent months doing research and in April I had our water tested. The EPA recommends 4 part per trillion is "safe" but in reality my conversation with medical professionals state NO amount of consumption is safe. My water test came back at 70 parts per trillion and I immediately purchased the special filtering needed to remove PFAs and installed it on our existing water filtering within days. I have also bought a whole house PFA filter that I intend to install in the coming weeks yet our water we drink, cook, and make ice with has been clean for months now as the post drinking system PFA filter test reflected <1 part per trillion.

No matter your wealth no one can purchase time, the only way to obtain more time is with your health.

Test your water because what you cannot see matters most!

bokohut··on Swiss glaciers have shrunk by a quarter since 2015, study says
The planet's rising temperatures will be the least of some regions' concerns as the knock-on effects from the redistributed water will be much, much deeper than current awareness.

The mass of ice on the earth's poles has also led to the shape of the planet via tectonics over thousands of millennia. As that mass melts and redistributes from a solid to a liquid spreading around the globe our spheroid will begin to rebound. We do not know what we do not know however we act like we know everything yet learn new things about the planet daily. The things the survivors are going to learn about the changes that are setting in will be the last thing those that did not survive experienced from those cataclysmic moments.

Fifteen years ago now in Dec 2010 I made a post on my now defunct blog about ALPR and I updated it for a few years. My experiences with LE along side my technical skillset had me 'finding' things. Dec 1 2010 Automated License Plate Readers - ALPR So tonight someone we will call the "suspect" robbed a liquor store with a shotgun and the Delaware State Police were in action with ALPR technology. It was stated by a witness that the "suspect" was seen getting into a late 90's model civic or small hatchback so thus the ALPR call. At the same time troopers were going door to door in the area checking on the well fair of residence in the area. Aside from a helicopter, K9 tracking, and what was at least 15 law enforcement officers from various local jurisdictions setup in a layered perimeter around the area the suspect evaded. I have included a mp3 segment of the Automatic License Plate Recognition vehicle convo and a swf clip showing a trooper setup at an exterior perimeter point.

bokohut··on I regret building this $3000 Pi AI cluster
Interestingly enough it is often times a foundational change in one's 'normal' that inspires something 'new'.

In this case that 'new' is energy efficient software down to the individual lines of code and what their energy cost is on certain hardware. Academics are publishing about it in niche corners of the web and some entrepreneurs are doing it but of course none of this is cool now so we remain a mockery for our objectives. In time this too will become a real thing as many now are just beginning to feel the ever rising costs of energy which is only just starting to increase from decisions made years ago. The worst is yet to come as seen and heard directly from every single expert that has testified in the last years before the Energy and Commerce committee however only the outside-the-boxers among us watch such educational content to better prepare for tomorrow.

Electricity powers our world and nearly all take it for granted, time too will change this thinking.

However for every Ying there is also a Yang so I too am interested in any factual data based replies or guidance please. And no, I am not looking to short REITs.

Some family members that owned in Florida for a decade sold a few years back after their costs began to balloon while other family members are still looking to move there in the coming years. Some can see what is unfolding, most cannot, yet all will pay given the systems current implementation.

bokohut··on Exploring Grid-Aware Websites
I am smiling so big even those reading this can likely see it.

As the global energy issues continue to rapidly unfold in both availability and costs more and more in time will be questioning that "thing" that nearly all take for granted absolute. A resource that is critical to modern life yet cannot be seen and therefore our vision driven species yields little concern for something that has always been readily available for one's entire life. When something is neglected and treated as infinite it is only a matter of time before such conflicts will ensue as a result of holistic mismanagement of an unseen resource that is very highly impacted by business 101 rules, supply and demand.

Glad to know of yet another that is cognizant of their code energy consumption. What most will balk at, some will even laugh, but this is just one's ignorance in lack of respect of time as those business principles take further grasp on reality of the situation where our technology progress has led us.

In my former life as an electrician I ran circuits that became the roads for those electrons to physically travel on. After becoming a software engineer I then logically controlled those same electrons from the circuits I pulled to power those devices. Many more in the future will be thinking both physically and logically about their own electron usage as the costs continue to rise given the undeniable reliance many still have on centralized power grid version 1 design per Morgan and Tesla.

bokohut··on I solved a distributed queue problem after 15 years
This post poked a bear of a memory that nearly ate me alive long ago.

I had an exponential socket growth issue in the late 1990s being the architect and maintainer of a little known ecommerce company that was powering a good portion of the domestic U.S. This volume problem I had equated to drinking from a fire hose that cannot be turned off yet the hose had to somehow be upgraded in motion to handle even more volume. I was young then and greatly inexperienced to truly comprehend the task I had to solve for and as the volume grew ever so slightly daily so too did the response times grow by milliseconds on transactions that few could see but all internally could understand what it meant over time. We managed to acquire the latest multi SMP hardware from Compaq but even this did not solve for the challenges of the increasing volume. I did solve the issue and it involved my third complete rewrite of the entire software stack into what is now recognized as microservices and durable message queueing. Those past choices, to this day, continue to stand the test of time.

bokohut··on Making Your Own Merchant Service Provider
I enjoy reading others' complaints about payments and only after the correct person gets frustrated enough, shunning the buyout greed, will a feasible domestic solution manifest.

Having written all the code and founded my own "Payment Processor" twice in the last few decades, this is an interesting space that demands subject matter expertise 24/7/365. Having lived through many global events of all kinds, that the general public never saw since being in payments at the inception of the internet, I learned things not possible today. I recall vividly those that laughed at me in the 90's when responding to inquiries about what I did for a living. After stating that I was building a payment server for the internet all balked stating no one would pay for anything online and then PayPal became our client followed by many other well known brands. Is anyone still paying online?

I came to comment the same thing but in reading the verbiage your context does not match my use of the term "AC".

I would offer that instead of monitoring the reactive egress of the devices purpose, thermal deltas, that one instead monitors the proactive ingress of what it needs to function to produce those thermal deltas, Alternating Current. If the devices native monitoring does not offer taps for voltage and amperage consumption then adding this before each device should be considered, certainly in data centers as some here have direct experience with HVAC failures and remaining on site for days to keep the uptime up. As a typical energy consuming device ages one can derive and relate many reactive events over time from proactive energy monitoring and in doing so one is certain to learn something new.

bokohut··on French villages have no more drinking water. The reason? PFAS pollution
I have been following this for many years now because immediately to my North along the very water source that provides our area our lives critical liquid is the originating source of PFAs for the planet - W.L.Gore. Our water was lab certified tested in April 2025 and we came in at a whopping 70 parts per trillion, yes 70 ppt! I made a ten minute presentation based on my data and findings in May 2025 before the town and the board was very reluctant to believe my findings yet my persistence has prevailed in my attempt to bring this issue to the forefront of all other local issues. On Wednesday of this week in the public hearing my town board requested the presence of InfraMark which handles our local resource facilities under contract and they very somberly presented what I already knew and have been getting others to act upon. InfraMark disclosed that the town will be forced to clean all the water source wells along with the sewer plants handling of PFAs however as with any government, even MORESO now, they do not have the money. I educated myself and acquired and installed all the needed solutions to remove my own home and family's PFA exposure. I retested in May 2025 and we now have <1 ppt PFA/PFOS in our water and I share that anyone waiting for their government to act to clean their water will likely be dead, naturally or otherwise, before it happens because of the size and costs of such municipal systems. No one cares more about you than you.

bokohut··on What's happening with Tesla's solar roof?
As with the comment by tzs within as well that reflects sound knowledge and experience about real world costs, and not just opinion, this had me offering more of the same from direct personal experience.

I am the original owner of my construction "builder grade shingles" that were 16 years of age and beginning to fail, yes a horrible builder I knew but had NO options for the location owned by them. Being construction industry aware I knew from the get go what my shingles were however I also had been positioning for pv since day one but never found a solution that I accepted, panels being the only thing to a point. Then along comes BiPV in the form of solar shingles and this all made sense exactly as joistandvolt lists and more.

I obtained 3 pure roofing replacement quotes for my 2200 sq ft typical roof; 18K Amish folk, 26K Local guy, 36K Big national chain.

So I NEEDED a new roof and HAD to spend at least 18k with the clock ticking. I had the option to spend 26k as well as 35k but what would those higher costs get me in the situation of ONLY a roof? In 2020 I then asked myself what a Tesla solar roof would cost since I already had to purchase a new roof and so my year long journey started that I absolutely would do all over again for new construction or a replacement roof.

This was an up and down time for Tesla Energy for those working with them. Canceling signed contracts and more yet being a data guy and having a decade of recordings from our families resource consumption numbers; water, electric and more, my speculated energy finance math calculations from a decade of real world expenses made the choice a no brainer in who to pay.

My solar shingle quote all in with 2 PWs was 70k, 213 pv v3 shingles @ 58.8 watts per. After all Federal and Maryland kicks backs our all in cost for our new localized generation and storage of electricity roof was 45K. Hindsight justifications aside had I chosen the big national brand I was all in already for 36K so for 9K more I got a solar glass roof, machine gun sounds in a hail storm, no concerns from wind as several neighbors already have made claims, ample power for the sump pump as other neighbors have already flooded, free excitement of death in winter when shoveling under the avalanche roofs, drive by looky loos taking pictures, neighbors asking me what's on my roof, and as a lifelong gardener no more pounds of asphalt crap to clean from my roof water capture tank every year either. Oh and since nearly all only care about the financial aspect those are laughable in our favor as well obviously. Starting with a greatly reduced electric bill based on the Sun's intensity but we still NEED the grid to dump our overage production to our neighbors yet being a dual EV family and a PV home we no longer buy petrol but do charge at Wawa on occasion.

Definitely ANYONE needing a roof, new construction or a replacement, should seriously consider localized generation and storage of a critical resource everyone alive requires daily. As the U.S. Energy and Commerce meetings have forewarned for many years, which is now coming to fruition as reality, that nearly all are experiencing higher prices and degraded uptime too. Who do you think cares about you when the lights go out? Energy is the foundation of our security yet few can see this with the lights on but once it goes dark that foundational need is easy to see.

bokohut··on Brazil's government-run payments system has become dominant
The long game pattern and cycle is obvious for those with the vision to see beyond the horizon. Politics obviously has a foundation in the choice of countries to control and operate their own payments systems given the value of the data and the social connections it reveals, aka national security. All security starts at the foundation and without financial security one is indebted and controlled by another. As the world enters a new cycle around those changing patterns the basis of the control they seek is founded in individual continuity without exterior influence by their adversaries. This can be seen today with the financial controls that can greatly impact an entire country filled with individuals that have no association with the reasoning of why the restriction was placed to begin with. We have many options today for instant cross border payments and as more and more countries move to own and operate their own payment platforms so too will those cross border payments methods grow in adoption foregoing an adversaries oversight and control.

I speak from direct experience in these words as the architect and founder of multiple acquired payment systems over the decades because this past December I was contacted by an African country seeking to build, own, and operate their own payment platform backed by their energy reserves. The concerns and threats around a country's monetary system are real and in time we will see more and more countries taking up this initiative to cut out the middlemen.

As a bonus over and above countries moving in this direction we can also see businesses doing the exact same thing over the last decade. Thee who controls the money also has induced influence over the users of that money as we see this more and more through 'progress'. Feel free to replace the word "money" with the word "data" in my previous statement as well.

As it relates to the real world from this issue, it was a life and death situation for law enforcement.

In 2011 I was contacted and engaged as an expert consultant by a mobile radio deployment company which was working on a federal government funded program to update the mobile law enforcement vehicles technology operations within the State of Pennsylvania. There was a technology problem no one else could solve even after having many Phds and telecom engineers toiling over algorithms and speculative performance numbers of a large wireless operator in the USA. I of course had to sign NDAs because the information I was exposed to proved that wireless coverage was in fact NOT everywhere and this engineering information directly conflicted with the hundreds of millions spent on marketing stating otherwise. "Can you hear me now?" [NOT a disclosure of the parties involved but fitting here nonetheless.] After many meetings with all the book educated experts flaunting their credentials the day finally came after I asked several times over to just show me the problem. We drove many hours to a facility in Pennsylvania to meet all the "experts" and to witness in person a law enforcement vehicle that was experiencing this detrimental network delay that was making the system unusable and putting law enforcement officers' lives at great risk from this delay. We sat in a meeting all morning with 20 experts around a table talking about what the problem could be and finally I raised my hand and said to all the experts, "Please just show me the problem." A law enforcement vehicle was brought in at my request and I walked out to meet the officer and listen to his concerns. Within one minute of meeting him he logged into his remote profile and I immediately knew what the issue was, his desktop image. Within two minutes of meeting him I had instructed the domain admin on the restricted law enforcement mobile network to set all remote desktops to pure black, NO images. Three minutes after meeting him he logged out and logged back in to his mobile law enforcement computer and he then paused, looked at me in amazement and called me a genius. He told me they had been working on this issue for months and had called expert after expert and no one could fix it and here I did it in less than two minutes. Four minutes later I walked back into the room of "experts" and informed everyone the problem had been fixed and literally no one said a word and just stared at me in awe until we left a short time later.

bokohut··on Yes, Climate Change Is Probably Going to Kill You
How about fourth, fifth, or greater order impacts that science cannot "see" in this moment because the change cannot be historically recreated visually in any data? Ponder this citizen scientists' unexpert thoughts for a moment in which I have spent many hours doing from my many evenings of star gazing as thinking sessions.

The poles of our planet currently retain a massive amount of frozen water that imposes significant force on each opposing end of our planet. That ice has accumulated over a long period of time which has slowly shaped our planet into a spheroid. As that ice melts and that mass is redistributed around the planet into all connected bodies of oceanic waters the pressure on the poles is fundamentally going to change. As that pressure subsides the ground at the poles will rebound thus impacting the shape of our planet physically returning it to a sphere. We have a term for when the ground moves but even more alarming will be the knock on effects of the entire planet changing shape for what lies under the ground that is red hot and often appears violently. Since we monitor the ground shaking and we also monitor volcanic activity we should have a fairly good awareness of such events occurring however what will be the explanation for the increases in such events? The effect may be red hot but the cause will likely be ice cold.

Interesting times reside ahead as we learn more and more about the only place every single person calls home.

bokohut··on Engineering "home-cooked" software
I have been home cooking for a long while now and a portion of that past cooking has turned into acquired businesses that still operate to this day on the system platforms I architected and wrote. Cooking is a skill that takes great time, effort, and commitment yet since nearly all have no time to stop and appreciate a good meal here we have a compounding societal health issue just as with "fast-food" software we have a rapidly compounding cyber security issue. Everything has a pattern and a cycle so once you spot that pattern be sure to cook something up to ride that next crest.

I love to cook and have fed many yet I also have come to accept that most people never meet the chef who made their meal.

bokohut··on Enterprises in for a shock when they realize power and cooling demands of AI
Can we proactively speculate that as businesses port to use artificial intelligence at an ever increasing rate in time they will remove human roles in their short term efforts to decrease business costs? In reality however over the longer term they will just be locking themselves into a greater expense of energy, either indirect from cloud use or directly when buying from a centralized energy provider. With salaried employees a business can “excuse away" their raise or fire them for another person that will take equal pay however one must pay their cloud/energy bill to operate tomorrow. Are we as a species to be unintelligent and artificially believe that prices will not continue to rise, most certainly for energy? Interesting immediate times as the technology Kool-A.i.d propagates with little regard for the long term impacts.
