I see the same thing happening in people smoke marijuana where any claim that it can have harmful effects for some or with abuse is met with “yeah well what do you know, i read this other thing and i never had issues myself”.

When you outline why it’s bad and show how you would significantly speed up over 1000 engineers at the company with minimal work the answer is to leave it the same as is and “fix the issue” with some new process.
Needless to say once my shares vest this year im gone. It is really such a bad environment to work in.
I should note that the shares have been on a decade decline and i was brought in to fix these exact issues but no one at the company cares or puts in more than the bare minimum before clocking out for the day. I can’t fix an issue if people think it’s ok to spin up a new k8s instance for every single service, are ok spending a month after starting asking to be put in the right AD groups, and hand deploy almost everything.
It worked really well but I haven’t worked on large scale DCs for a few years now so maybe some new stuff happened
Everyone in this thread seems to thinks government is able to get things done. That is not what my last 40 years of life has shown me.
Eating the 2x spicy ramen two days in a row destroyed my stomach and also had me in tears as that oil makes it linger. When I say destroyed i mean it took over a month for it to get back to normal and even after that it wasn’t like it was before.
I don’t eat any spicy food anymore. I could see why you might pull these.
Now at a new company i have caught several people copy pasting gpt code that is just horrendous.
It seems like this is where the industry is headed. The only thing i have found gpt to be good at is solving interview questions although it still uses phantom functions about 50% of the time. The future is bumming me out.
I agree that this will likely have a good outcome in the end but something about it just seems wrong to me.
I have lots of views they likely don’t line up with yours because most people don’t see how the low end of the economy actually works.
It’s been shown drunk driving drops with uber because cabs will ignore you outside of a select few cities.
As a college student i had multiple cabs try to scam me or overcharge and this was if they would even show up at all leaving me to walk miles and in one case getting robbed at gun point because of it. But yeah lol its the same as uber.
So they have to let the drivers have complete freedom over what they do and what rides they take and when they do it. But also you have to follow min wage laws which apply when?
Im sure Uber and Lyft can redesign the system to work with this model and im sure the consumer will hate the new prices.
They are just going to leave the market if it becomes unprofitable. I see people complaining all the time about ride prices so the consumer doesn’t want this and im sure the people driving aren’t happy to lose the income as well.
Who is winning here?
I just can’t get onboard with this thinking. I understand it for W2 jobs but for freelance and pick your own hours it does not make sense.
Argue all you want for thinking that law makers should be setting special wages for specific industries. Personally i think they should stay out of it but man i would be mad as someone living in the city that these services are no longer available.
I did drop out of Facebooks interview process right after the recruiter told me i need to come up with a better reason why i wanted to work at facebook for the next interview. I told them i thought they were going a little too far and I didn’t want to work at a company that was that full of themselves.
