bofadeez··on Can you reverse engineer an ASIC?
Are these "shadow bans" in the room with you right now? What a nut.

Fable needs no advertising. It was more important than the printing press. Code singularity.

But it's old news, Fable is no longer my favorite LLM. I mostly use Kimi k3 now. It's also more competent than you are in general.

The primary point you're avoiding is that programming is not a job for professional humans anymore. At least not humans with any dignity or self respect or economic value.

I'm sure you at least agree with this point, like every other reasonable person does now too.

Have you tried Fable yet? It's amazing!
bofadeez··on Americans are rallying against data centers. Surprisingly few are getting built
Well according to Fable both parties have a good point. But Fable definitely needs data centers so the economy can continue chugging along.

It's around $1 / M on claude code plan. Most users report around 200M tokens on the $200 plan.

I don't think anyone is paying full API pricing.

Oh you forgot a counter argument. Are you upset that you don't have valuable skills anymore?

Some people just disagree but have no logical reason why and then just change the subject, like you demonstrated.

I can tell you have strong emotions about it, and you wish you had something logical to say. Hope you can think of something other than insults.

I assume you use your HN account in an anonymous way and you don't mind appearing so dysregulated to the world?

Lol

Have you tired using several billion Fable tokens in production? It will do whatever you want.

So you can still have your opinions on what works best. But it doesn't matter much, it's not 2025 anymore.

E.g. always use Rust instead of Python

You sound like me before I tried Fable.
bofadeez··on You don't need React: creating a minimal UI library in Vanilla JavaScript
I would have agreed before I used Fable. It's not even vibe coding anymore. It's just coding.

E.g. Just always use Rust instead of Python.

Tomato tomato. English is my favorite new programming language.
bofadeez··on The Computational Theory of Mind (2015)
Well, Nima has shown that space-time is emergent from higher geometry like he amplituhedron and is not the fundamental basis of reality. Then Hoffman suggests that conscious agents could plausibly be the substrate through his category theoretic work. It's not a misunderstanding of the double slit experiment. (I think that was a talking point for a long time amongst hippies.) The interpretation that wave function collapse requires a conscious agent would be consistent with this idea though, and also consistent with simulation theory.
bofadeez··on The Computational Theory of Mind (2015)

Conscious agents are creating spacetime. Not the other way around: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4060643/

bofadeez··on The Computational Theory of Mind (2015)
Just as the amplitudes program suggests that spacetime itself may be an emergent structure rather than the fundamental substrate of reality [1], the computational theory of mind may be mistaking an emergent representation for the source of consciousness. A more fundamental theory must therefore treat neural computation as an emergent interface within conscious-agent relations, rather than as the mechanism that generates consciousness.

Even the loosest, "multiply realizable" version of computationalism this entry lays out still needs something physical to run on like neurons, silicon, spacetime, whatever. Problem is, natural selection was never selecting for accurate perception of that substrate, just for fitness payoffs [2].

So computationalism has the order backwards: you can't generate a mind by computing over a brain when the brain, like any object in spacetime, is just a species-specific icon evolution gave you to see, not the hardware underneath it.

Competition is supposed to be the safety net of capitalism that ensures high quality and low prices. Distillation is not illegal. They're just using the LLM in a lawful way. So yes we all should thank the capitalist Chinese labs for helping the consumer in a win-win fashion.

bofadeez··on Nothing Ever Happens: Polymarket bot that always buys No on non-sports markets
You're deliberately misunderstanding that you linked an article to EMH as informative and true, and then don't want to defend it. How do markets become efficient and reflect (any) information if nobody can profit by collecting information and trading on it? EMH states it's impossible to beat the market and that all available information is priced in. How, magically?

The way you're speaking about trading in terms of technical analysis implies you have retail trading exposure and have no idea what institutional alpha quants do.

This explainer might help you understand: https://youtu.be/RpCzaEn4rnc?t=257

bofadeez··on Nothing Ever Happens: Polymarket bot that always buys No on non-sports markets
Question is about EMH and how you expect efficiency to be achieved absent profit for collecting the information.

There are 3 accepted forms of EMH. I'm talking about weak form - just price history and nothing else. E.g. formulaic alpha have demonstrable predictive value in modeling.

All that to say you believe trading profits are real. Maybe you just need to learn more about what a buy side alpha quant at two sigma does for a living. Trading models can be robust and exploit real inefficiencies. Weak form EMH is demonstrably false on it's face, as you agree.
