Got a link?
bobthebuilders··on Building single-page-apps with PostgREST
Yeah this has to be some sort of joke, I can't even read what 80% of the sidebar on mobile, and it crashes my phone every other page.
bobthebuilders··on How to make Lisp go faster than C (2006) [pdf]
Not really, FORTRAN is still faster than C for numerical purposes due to array aliasing concerns.
bobthebuilders··on WebAssembly: The New Kubernetes?
As much as I hate it, I think economics will make WebGPU a thing the same way it did electron.
bobthebuilders··on GNU Radio
Yup. One of the reasons GNU has a deblobbed Linux build.
bobthebuilders··on Milan confirms new cycling network linking 80% of the city to bike paths
Death because you are annoyed is not a good look you know. We shouldn't advocate that here.
bobthebuilders··on Judge orders FDA to hasten FOIA release of Pfizer vaccine docs
Nope. Genetic engineering and bioweapons could very make the latter a reality. And that's why you don't try to be pendantic.
bobthebuilders··on Tesla Tunnel Traffic Jam
I'd question a 100x decrease, but anywhere from 2-10x due to less obstacle avoidance and external factors seems reasonable. (Although newer designs by places like Hitachi promise to cut cost using smaller vehicles at higher frequency, probably in an effort to make inroads in NA).

Something else that's worth considering is whether this scales. I'd expect a loop like the Las Vegas Loop to be somewhat larger to deal with concerns with ventilation and evacuation, something this loop doesn't have to deal with yet.

I think we also want GoA 2/GoA 3 capable cars, which should be easier than FSD and be achievable by Tesla in the short term. Driving manually through small tunnels is not for everyone, and even with guidewheels, I think automation is pretty important for this kind of system. The technology to realize these loops in the way Musk wants them isn't quite there yet, but I'd expect them to be here soonTM.

bobthebuilders··on Tesla Tunnel Traffic Jam
The point of a subway is that the people who want to take a subway take the subway, freeing space for other people. This solution has the high construction cost of a subway, no cheaper running cost than a BRT solution, and has less throughput than either. Also, those flaws (except maybe luggage) aren't a fault of subways themselves, and could also apply to any competitors copying Tesla.

I don't think the Tesla tunnel has any benefit over any other system (it's basically a worse airport people mover). But I think Elon is thinking 3 steps ahead towards his Vegas Loop, an idea that while still a bit too handwavey for me makes more sense. It's basically a road system underground, but fully automated. I'm still iffy on how I like the idea, but it's clear that this is Musk's vision, and the tunnel is perhaps a small path towards that.

bobthebuilders··on Brave Passes 50M Monthly Active User
We already have this. It's called Electron. It's not really a solution imo.
bobthebuilders··on Search engines and SEO spam
Incorrect. He can then return them.
bobthebuilders··on Libmobi: C library for handling eBook formats
Rust is a language created by idiots who couldn't learn how to program C. I agree completely. Nobody uses Rust except for NFT and crypto shills, and that's because Rust is a rhetorical language created by a company that should be making free web browsers, not wasting time..m
bobthebuilders··on Pop_OS 21.10 has landed
Use tensorman. It's way cleaner than nvidia-docker, and isn't made by a company hostile to Linux to boot.
bobthebuilders··on Thermo-Electric Generators
Doesn't something hot (in the way we colloquially use the word) have a temperature higher than the surrounding air/metal/whatever?

What kind of PC is an industrial PC? More hardened? More resistant to factory floor accidents?
bobthebuilders··on The internet is held together with spit and baling wire
Not really. You'd be surprised with what 3 letter agencies do.
bobthebuilders··on How JavaScript engines achieve great performance
Most of these things in TS are due to historical artifacts too. Namely code patterns that would not work well without them.
bobthebuilders··on Closure vs. derivation in the Nix package manager
I've read this a few times now and I understand neither what the two are nor their differences.

bobthebuilders··on Iraqi Prime Minister survives exploding drone assassination attempt
Many devices in other countries cannot support TLS. Especially those using the lite version of the website.
bobthebuilders··on MangoDB: An open-source MongoDB alternative
Many businesses use Oracle DB too. Many businesses also write their internal processes on papers that they keep only one copy of in the same location. Don't fall for the bandwagon effect.

bobthebuilders··on Roy Fielding's Misappropriated REST Dissertation (2020)
> understand why the thing at the end of a GET or PUT url should be a "thing" not an operation

what do you mean by this?

bobthebuilders··on Proposal to add constexpr to C [pdf]
Right, but maybe a military supercomputer could compute such a thing. I know my pi surely can't.
bobthebuilders··on Proposal to add constexpr to C [pdf]
What? Why would fib(35) be evaluated at comple time? What if it's fib(1500)? The computers I want to run the program on is way faster than the pi I use for development.
bobthebuilders··on Windows Package Manager 1.1
Wow, I didn't know Microsoft was that shady. The original story was bad enoguh, but this makes it even worse. So they took the time to get ideas out of him and do the exact same thing he did, when a CS 102 guy could do the same thing when YAML files and exec... wow. I have no other words.

bobthebuilders··on RFC-0082: Runnning unmodified Linux programs on Fuchsia
Good. I believe that competition will bring more innovation to the tech sector and the stacks we use.
