blondie9x··on Amazon says email banning TikTok from employee phones was ‘sent in error’
Snapchat are you listening? Make a page for your users and allow them to persist the videos and images. You will have implemented a complete platform for those who want images to disappear and for those who want them to persist. That makes TikTok redundant and unnecessary.
blondie9x··on U.S. Supreme Court deems half of Oklahoma a Native American reservation
Honestly after all the Native Americans went through, give them the whole state at least. People in the United States speak and reflect often about the atrocities of slavery. We need to equally reflect on and remember the atrocities against Native Americans.

Can you cite one study that supports this claim?
blondie9x··on Show HN: Binarysearch.io – Learn Algorithms Together
I’m not into the idea? Interviews are to gauge an individuals abilities. Why would you want to practice for an individual task where you will he expected to solve individually with a group? I think this is like studying in a group for a test. There is a huge risk you think you learn something but you don’t.

Studying for assignments in a group makes sense or comparing notes etc. but studying for an exam in a group or an interview doesn’t.

blondie9x··on Climate threats now dominate long-term risks, survey of global leaders finds
Governments of this planet are not moving quickly enough on climate change with small incremental changes over time. However, people and organizations who champion these efforts can pressure governments to drive faster change.

Climate Pledge

To protect all of humanity globally now and for the future of our posterity I am committing to the following.

I pledge to limit eating red meat. I will restrict intake of cows and lambs etc. If I choose to have children, I will have 2 or less. I will try to use cycling or mass transit options whenever possible and to participate in efforts to expand transit. I will restrict flying to only when necessary and try to limit flying to only when no other choice is available. If I do fly I will try to offset all emissions. I will try my utmost to conserve energy and minimize use of heating and cooling appliances. I will try my best to limit energy use to renewable sources when I have the choice. When I cannot choose I will fight for the ability to have this choice. I will try to help those close to me understand these choices and the need for those able, to also join the pledge. I will only consume what I need. I will not perpetuate extravagance and will only support companies who champion sustainable efforts. I will do my best to strive for and support sustainable and minimalist technology. I will stay involved in the public discourse on environmental issues and stay engaged on efforts to mitigate climate change.

blondie9x··on Go master Lee Se-dol says he quits, unable to win over AI Go players
The difference is that this AI agent was built to beat humans. Horses were not built to run faster than humans.

You have to remember the specific comparison and the art that humans tried to partake in to master go.

Humans do not run to beat horses. We never compete. That would be silly.

Cars and humans also do not compete at the 100 meter dash.

If humans and robots compete at 100 meter dash than the olympics will similarly lose its luster.

blondie9x··on Go master Lee Se-dol says he quits, unable to win over AI Go players
In this instance AI research is directed at beating humans. Creating agents that will beat humans at games. This adversely impacts human drive and motivation.
blondie9x··on Go master Lee Se-dol says he quits, unable to win over AI Go players
I think it's about where AI research is seeking to produce an AI that will directly compete with and try to beat humans.
blondie9x··on Go master Lee Se-dol says he quits, unable to win over AI Go players
I am coming from the perspective of Lee-Se-dol. He wanted to be the best man and highlight the achievement of men. Now there is no way it can be achieved. What's the point of the endeavor when humans can never win?

Broader question about AI research. Does it demoralize humanity?

blondie9x··on Go master Lee Se-dol says he quits, unable to win over AI Go players
If a car competes with a human on a track for the 100 meter dash then there is no point. There doesn't exist competition between cars and humans now on race tracks. The problem with AI gaming is that it does exist and they will face each other. It's about the efforts to have AI compete with humans.

When robots start to compete with humans at olympic events and beat humans at those event there will then be no point to those events.

blondie9x··on Go master Lee Se-dol says he quits, unable to win over AI Go players
This is about human drive and what's the point if the computer will always be better. In a way it makes the game a bit less fun because it somewhat kills the elusiveness of it all and the human aspect of men trying to surpass each others feats. If a man cannot beat a machine at a task where they are to compete directly, what's the point of trying at all if the machine will always be better?

To all, because governments have mostly failed us on quick action I created a climate pledge. It is open to feedback but I think starting with individual commitments and sustainable lifestyles will help us move society forward as a whole.

Governments are not moving quickly enough on climate change with small incremental changes over time. However, people and organizations who champion these efforts can pressure governments to drive faster change.
