blondie9x··on Climate is accumulating 4 Hiroshima atomic bombs worth of heat per second
Excess atmospheric CO2 levels in and of itself are a health concern. Geoengineering will not help with the human toll of increasing CO2 and decreasing O2 levels

blondie9x··on Climate is accumulating 4 Hiroshima atomic bombs worth of heat per second
It feels like the Earth’s oceans are at a tipping point and can no longer continue to absorb this amount of heat and acidification from the carbonic acid levels increasing when CO2 breaks down.

This year it feels like the ocean is losing its ability to breathe in a sense https://scienceblog.com/the-ocean-stopped-breathing-off-pana...

Do we know what the goal was? Was this to protect forest land? Similar to something like this? https://www.nicfi.no/2024/12/10/norway-strengthens-support-o...

Although I'm not sure what Norway is attempting is actually working - similar to what we see with carbon credits essentially showing no material decrease in greenhouse gas emission growth. Indonesia is going through some of the worst wildfires ever experienced in human history at the moment. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cqevw9y34y34t

blondie9x··on EV Sales Are Booming in Europe with Gasoline at $10 a Gallon
Ah yeah. I love the idea of no cars at all. But if we do have to have cars then cars powered solely by the sun is the way to go.
blondie9x··on EV Sales Are Booming in Europe with Gasoline at $10 a Gallon
EVs plus charging with a grid powered by solar when the sun shines bright at midday is one of the most powerful forces in averting anthropogenic climate change.

It's better for the body to keep driving sessions to 3-4 hours max before you get up walk around and charge a bit. 330 mile range is more than enough. If you only use 60% of the battery to maximize its lifespan you can drive for 3.5 hours roughly before you deplete a battery from 80% -> 20%.

Not something to be worn on your face.
blondie9x··on Meta takes down a critical video about meta AI Glasses after filming at Meta
Why are these Mets glasses still allowed to be sold? It needs to be stopped and the product recalled.

Google glasses came and went. Mets glasses should follow a similar fate.

The problem is the LED isn’t enabled currently when live streaming content to Instagram or Facebook. Most live streams can just be captured and recorded by someone else. This is a huge cap in privacy and safety even if the LED was fully functional without tampering.
blondie9x··on A misalignment of AI in mathematics
This might be one of the most powerful pieces ever written on AI. Where is the United States government? When will we see legislation we so desperately need? We have one party in total control of the government and what have they achieved? Corruption through brings and delays; the inability to legislate and even worse overriding efforts by other jurisdictions to protect humanity's best interests and privacy.
blondie9x··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
The world is destabilizing as climate change worsens and food prices rise. Do we really need more AI for these sort of uses? Maybe less AI less consumption?
blondie9x··on Caltech Mathathon – first hackathon ever devoted to research level mathematics
Yeah it's a bit of a tricky situation. It's almost like a bribe in a sense.

Are the models improving their footprint on the natural world? Data centers and and the natural resources consumed by models for production of materials and for building and running inference servers are contributing towards environmental degradation. How can we prevent that as we continue the roll out so we shift this to a more sustainable developmental rollout path?

blondie9x··on The mechanics of the Nepali flash flood
Honestly there is no safe haven while humans over-consume continue to waste in the chase of excess. We have seen in the last few years all the supposed climate safe areas get hit hard.

blondie9x··on The mechanics of the Nepali flash flood
I don't understand why the push so hard on AI and the greenwashing / misleading information about its impact on the natural world.
blondie9x··on Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B
What has open in tech become now?

Just in recent weeks Openrouter bought out by Stripe and now hugging face bought out by NVIDIA.

Is this really freedom and choice for consumers? No it’s the proliferation and nomination of big tech.

blondie9x··on Air Conditioning Is Not a Luxury, It Is a Necessity
Imagine a world where a larger share of companies focus on actual, verifiable improvement of outcomes for people. Not a world dominated by selling more consumption. A world where we go to work to make things better. Outcomes driven by improvements in human health, longevity, and happiness, not by bottom lines and profit margins. To get to that world we will have to be more open about being imposters.
blondie9x··on The planet now has more trees than it did 35 years ago (2018)
This study is 10 years old and in many of the most important carbon sink areas there is a decline.

It's also that afforestation efforts to replenish lost forests have worked in some countries.

Can you imagine the trillions of trees we would need to have sufficient carbon fixation to level out the burning of 100 million oils of barrel per day?

blondie9x··on AI to help planes avoid climate-warming 'sky graffiti'
What if there are more headwinds at that height which require increased fuel use?
blondie9x··on AI to help planes avoid climate-warming 'sky graffiti'
Check out other comment. It could actually end up causing more warming in the long term depending on the net change in fuel use or extra maintenance on plane etc.
blondie9x··on AI to help planes avoid climate-warming 'sky graffiti'
This exactly.
blondie9x··on AI to help planes avoid climate-warming 'sky graffiti'
If you shift a route to avoid making contrails and end up on a longer or more turbulent route what is the net benefit to the climate? For example if a plane ends up using more fuel on a longer route to avoid a cold area where contrails could be made or ends up on a route with more headwinds or turbulence.

Is this a bit of green washing?

blondie9x··on US strikes $1.2B deal to pay German firm to halt offshore wind projects
We are outraged. We know we are nearly the climate abyss. We see the changes all around us. What are we going to do to collectively to change course? To right the ship?

I wrote a book on the issue. I think the next best thing we can do is work together to amplify our voices to the point ignoring us is no longer politically convenient.
