blondie9x··on Bitcoin miners in Abkhazia are causing blackouts in remote villages [video]
People think if you are for controlling energy consumption and regulation of cryptocurrency mining you are against cryptocurrencies themselves. That is false.
blondie9x··on Bitcoin miners in Abkhazia are causing blackouts in remote villages [video]
Bitcoin energy consumption is rising as mining is more competitive and more rewards with rising price. The consumption of bitcoin mining is increasing. Can you stay calm? I am not trying to say lets give up on cryptocurrencies I am saying we need to have serious conversations about energy consumption and controlling mining energy consumption. When people get really defensive and angry it doesn't help.

Think about it like this new energy capacity is added that is sustainable but the cryptocurrency mining part of grid keeps consuming and eating more of the grid then newly added renewable capacity it would be a wash and we wouldn't achieve sustainability commitments and be able to mitigate climate change. You can't just say well if Bitcoin mining is renewable then we are ok. What about the rest of the grid? They need some of the newly added renewable capacity as well as growth continues. TLDR if new renewable capacity added is less than growth of mining and current use of mining we get no where.

What about mining? We regulate gold / silver mining. Why not crypto mining? It consumes more energy than the gold or silver mining industries. https://coincentral.com/bitcoin-mining-trumps-gold-mining-en...

Can we please start regulating crypto currency mining? This is insane. I think it needs to be global mining regulation. Can the UN do anything else? If we start taking all the energy used to mine a given cryptocurrency it aggregates to more than most countries per cryptocurrency. Not ok. I know this is controversial but we have to at least debate this subject as we face an existential threat from climate change and yes cryptocurrencies are contributing to the climate crisis.
blondie9x··on Bill Gates Says that Bitcoin is bad For the Planet
I am not against cryptocurrencies but I am against the wasted energy of Bitcoin. It needs to be regulated globally now. This is terrible to use more energy than Argentina to pay someone. https://www.statista.com/statistics/881541/bitcoin-energy-co...
blondie9x··on NASA's Perseverance rover sends stunning images
If one million people make a little effort the impact will be huge. Dont't be pessimistic. Lead by example. The simplified, minimalist, sustainable living style is contagious because it is as we are meant to actually live. In balance with the energy of the planet we depend upon and are part of.
blondie9x··on Bitcoin: The Idea That Eats Smart People
Again. Circulation. -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency_in_circulation I believe article is focusing on using Bitcoin as currency and how it consumes more energy than driving a Tesla 2500 miles per transaction. Offsetting sustainability gains against climate change. Source-> https://www.statista.com/statistics/881541/bitcoin-energy-co...

blondie9x··on Fake Amazon reviews 'being sold in bulk' online
Amazon needs to stop allowing review to be left by people who do not have a verified purchase of an item on their accounts. If you really think about reviews, without honesty, trust, and verification the entire review system is meaningless.

Why not just post a Scrum update or a video to or message to a slack update channel. This is silly
blondie9x··on Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index
Climate change progress is being offset by the rise of harvesting digital currencies and the mining and production of parts that go into computers that power the harvesting and production of the currency.
blondie9x··on Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index
Anyone who buys and takes part in mining this currency is taking part in the proliferation of climate change and the destruction of the planet. Until you can say all mining is done sustainably and all server production doesn’t not use rare earth materials or cause significant e waste, mining and Bitcoin itself should be regulated. Period.
blondie9x··on Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index
Can we please regulate Bitcoin the way we regulate over heavy consumption and pollution industries? This doesn’t even take into account the production and mining of rare earth materials to power the super computers mining Bitcoin.
blondie9x··on Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index
This is disgusting. Why is this stupid useless asset allowed to proliferate without regulation?

Why are we not concerned about harvesting this blockchain at the cost of the planet? This is silly. Bitcoin needs to be regulated like other industries. It’s polluting just the same. Regulation now please.

blondie9x··on Spotify patent would suggest songs based on users' emotions
Anyone remember Songza or Grooveshark? That was so beautiful. Makes Spotify and Pandora look a fool. What Spotify or Google Music Apple Music should be doing is what Songza was doing. Time of day, weather, genre, what do you want to do? -> Go

blondie9x··on World reaction to long queues of voters in US
Voter suppression is very real and it is very sad. Those in power say they are in power by a majority but that's false. They aren't. Senators in majority represent minority of voters. A President is in the White House who received less votes than the challenger. This so called majority make laws and claims they can do so because they represent the majority of voices in this country, that is completely false.
