bliker··on Parking kills businesses, not bikes or buses
In this case I would suggest trying out grocery delivery services like Ocado in the UK.
bliker··on ‘I felt powerless – so I started filming’: CyclingMikey vs. dangerous drivers
Both of the examples that you provided are generally way less dangerous. Distracted driving is a common cause of deadly accidents. So I’d argue your examples are hardy equivalent. Using your phone in a stationary queue likely correlates with use while moving, which is significantly harder to capture.
bliker··on ‘I felt powerless – so I started filming’: CyclingMikey vs. dangerous drivers
It might feel dangerous but actual fatalities are very rare. So keep your eyes on the cars!

bliker··on Swedish study finds discrimination against men in female-dominated occupations
My reading is that diverse teams are seen as more productive and innovative. Another angle could be that given how impactful technology is, women need the seat at the table to take part in shaping it.
bliker··on Lithuania is paying people to trade in polluting cars for escooters and ebikes
I think in many cases ebike can easily replace a second car in a family.
bliker··on Ask HN: I’m already fluent in English. How can I improve further?
I find that one of the hardest things is to know what sounds natural. I found this website useful for checking specific phrases https://ludwig.guru.
bliker··on Office noise bothers some people more than others
Even if you account for travel?
bliker··on Czech Trail Marking System (2006)
I think red is generally used for long distance trails and other colours are used for auxiliary routes. Because of that, colour clashes are rare. Because all major intersections have arrows you just really need to remember your destination. Often you even have the information about public transport at the destination.

bliker··on The health-technology sector overlooks women and their bodies
This is clearly due to lack of user testing.
bliker··on DragonFFI: C Foreign Function Interface and JIT Using Clang/LLVM
I've been using ctypes for the exact same purposes and it has been pretty painless. Why have you decided to use FFI?
bliker··on OCLint
Clang static analyzer can be run as part of oclint run. It contains slower and more complex memory related checks.
bliker··on OCLint
Clang tidy has more style related checks. Where oclint is better at diagnosing complexity.

Saying that, I've recently felt like the development of clang tidy has been much more active and it will become the do-it-all tool very soon.

bliker··on Tech is the best industry for women
What exactly is wrong with ping-pong tournaments?
bliker··on Secure C coding standards by SEI
Clang tidy supports some of the rules http://clang.llvm.org/extra/clang-tidy/
bliker··on Visual Studio Code 1.10
Today I was looking into using the VS Code debugger for embedded C and I was surprised that the c/c++ extension is not open source. Does anyone know the reason?

bliker··on One Chart, Twelve Charting Libraries
I have used http://dygraphs.com for plotting audio with very good results.
bliker··on Algebrite, a computer algebra system in JavaScript

bliker··on How the Bicycle Wheel Carries its Load: Held Up by Downward Pull (1980)
Just recently I made a crude simulation to compare Radial and cross lacing for wheels. http://gfycat.com/ThreadbareEdibleCormorant.

I did it in response to this reddit post. https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/3cxk4v/just_made...

bliker··on Dear Google Mail Team
I’ve noticed the same thing. Do you by any chance have a catch-all address? That was the major source of spam in the inbox for me.
bliker··on Microsoft Edge – The Browser for Doing
It’s almost like during Apple events
bliker··on Ask HN: What OS do you run?
HW: Retina Macbook Pro

SW: OSX for Photoshop and Illustrator, Sublime Text for C/JS/PHP plus XCode. I also run Windows VM for all sorts of engineering software (Siemens NX, ANSYS, LabView, Multisim).

bliker··on Merry Christmas to HN
Veselé Vianoce!
bliker··on UI Performance Decline – OS X Tiger to Yosemite [video]
I get this awful glitching when switching spaces and I can’t really see much of a speedup. Not sure about the awesomeness, but it is fairly easy to try out.
bliker··on Putin Blames Outside Forces for Economic Woes
I am from Slovakia and I do not hate Russia. I am afraid.
bliker··on Are Christmas Lights in Series or Parallel?
Apart from other reasons mentioned. LEDs don’t work well in parallel. Even if you have just 2 of them, one will be bit brighter (drawing more current) than the other.
bliker··on For my final project I built a sous-vide immersion cooker
I was wondering why there is a need to involve a micro-controller? I can see this project being done with couple of op-amps and potentiometer? I see so many hobby project using arduinos for no good reason. Please people show some love for analog electronics!
bliker··on Air Fares 101 – Why do fares change all the time?
Surprisingly, in Denmark it is quite common to sell fruit like this.
bliker··on Evil 32: Check Your GPG Fingerprints
I love gpg but openpgp tooling is just ancient piece of crap from CLI perspective.

- writing gpg just gives you cryptic “gpg: Go ahead and type your message ...” without any more information.

- `gpg --list-keys` apart from being hard to remember* has a table of misaligned values without any headers.

- I still can’t figure out how to make use of gpg-agent.

* I always tend to write --keys and I get another non-helpful info error “gpg: Option “--keys” is ambiguous”)

bliker··on EU’s New VAT Rules Could Create a Mess for Startups
So this means I can just change my IP (And possibly use some random physical address) to get lower prices when in EU?
