blackhaj7··on Ask HN: How do you manage skills files?
Nice! Will check it out, thanks
blackhaj7··on Ask HN: How do you manage skills files?
Anyone got a good flow for sharing their skills across their various repos and apps?

I ideally want to have a single place I store my skills with an easy way to make them available to my repos, Amp and ChatGPT desktop/iOS, Grok web but can’t see a way

blackhaj7··on UEFA and its national associations will not participate in FIFA competitions
Absolutely love this. Nice to see some integrity in 2026
blackhaj7··on I'm Peter Roberts, immigration attorney who does work for YC and startups. AMA
Hi Peter - thanks for another of these.

What travel restrictions are applied to applicants/spouses going through the PERM labor cert green card process? I am on an L1-B (wife is L2) and we are currently at the step before the I-485 submission and travel lots to see family

blackhaj7··on Personal Encyclopedias
Incredible. Always wanted to do this. Would be lovely to even just have details of the places I have visited.

Something to keep secure though. With AI scams taking off, this kind of context could make it very easy for someone to scam your friends/family

blackhaj7··on Wired headphone sales are exploding
I used wired headphones not only because Bluetooth can be a pain but because I hate noise cancellation and all bluetooth headphones seem to have it (even when it is turned off, it does “something” that messes with my ears)

I am convinced noise cancellation is causing me tinitus and I don’t seem to get it when I use normal headphones

blackhaj7··on I rebooted my social life
I feel the same with my friends from school but the reason we feel like that is that school forced us to be together and a deep friendship was forged as a result.

In adulthood, that forcing function doesn't exist so you have to make the effort. So regardless of whether or not it "feels natural" to go "friend-hunting" (it doesn't to me either), if you don't do it, you will be without friends.

It's also worth framing it to yourself differently. Friend hunting sounds awful and fake but organising fun/activities for similarly minded people seems more positive

blackhaj7··on UK accounting body to halt remote exams amid AI cheating
I think this will go full circle (as the article indicates). Ultimately , the parents are the “customer” of education institutions as they send their kids there with the goal of them getting good grades. For now, getting a good grade regardless of whether you got it honestly or not should result in you getting a job and therefore the parents are happy.

But as soon as employers understand that the grades don’t mean anything, they will start prioritising students from places that are more strict e.g. through in person only exams etc.

Once this happens, parents, and therefore schools, will start to prioritise this more.

The sad part is that a generation of kids are going to pass through school and come out dumb and ill prepared for life while the systems corrects

blackhaj7··on Why I Disappeared – My week with minimal internet in a remote island chain
“They were young and older, professors and small business owners (even an Army colonel!), Republicans and Democrats, from big cities and small towns”

It’s just so bizarre to me as a non-American that someone would go to the Galapagos Islands and come away knowing the political affiliations of the people they were with. It shouldn’t even need to come up

Anyone know why the power cables in the image zig zag up and down?

Seems like it would require more cable than a straight line so I am guessing there is a reason for it

blackhaj7··on Show HN: I built a dashboard to compare mortgage rates across 120 credit unions
Awesome
blackhaj7··on Markdown is holding you back
My biggest problem with Markdown is that I hate writing in it. I find messing around with the syntax interrupts my flow.

Are others writing raw markdown/mdx or is there a CMS/Vscode plugin I should be using? (I have a few plugins already but find the writing experience pretty rubbish still)

blackhaj7··on Show HN: Wealthfolio 2.0- Open source investment tracker. Now Mobile and Docker
Awesome. I have been meaning to give this a try so this is a great nudge.

Given the permissions you expose, it looks like it is possible to write a plugin to get account activities from something like Plaid so I don't need to keep importing - am I understanding correctly?

blackhaj7··on When UPS charged me a $684 tariff on $355 of vintage computer parts
I got charged a $17 tariff on a doll my stepmum had knitted my daughter. Fun fun

Is there a full list? I struggled to find one
blackhaj7··on It's insulting to read AI-generated blog posts
I used to be really good at spotting it but my AI radar is getting less effective now. Often I don’t notice until late in an article which is very annoying.

There are some videos on Instagram that I didn’t notice were AI until my wife told me!

If I want AI content, I will go to an AI. The only good outcome is that I am spending way less time on social media because so much of it is now AI

blackhaj7··on 60k kids have avoided peanut allergies due to 2015 advice, study finds
Superbly put! Mad when you think of it like that and makes you realise how primitive man made technology is in comparison to the natural technology we come with
blackhaj7··on Scripts I wrote that I use all the time

Thanks for the explanation!
blackhaj7··on Feed the bots
Ah, it is explained in another post - https://maurycyz.com/projects/trap_bots/

Clever

blackhaj7··on Feed the bots
Can someone explain how this works?

Surely the bots are still hitting the pages they were hitting before but now they also hit the garbage pages too?

blackhaj7··on Scripts I wrote that I use all the time
