It largely reflects the political interpretation of one non-profit. In contrast the concerns over climate change are not posted in PR briefs, but in a plethora of scientific papers, in various fields, that repeatedly show we are in or past a worse case prediction.

The ozone layer is more analogous, but the problem had the advantage of being a specific problem, with a soon found and cost efficient solution. In comparison, climate change is also 100% true, but rather than a particular aerosol that can be swapped out, it is literally the foundation of the entirety of human industrialization.

I think the high minded philosophizing about the morality of a world littered with endless lies falls in the face of the reality of many people's lives. We are already knee deep in bullshit. Jobs will lie about compensation, requirements, duties, advancement, and culture, but what a sickened world we would suddenly occupy if one lies to meet the false requirements.

The complexities of societal issues are not really parsable at the level of day to day observation. I could say the same about my culture being one that celebrates corruption and buffoonery, but I don't base my my assumptions about society on my daily experience, I base it on sociology and history.

Assuming all resources can be found everywhere is simply false. Beyond that, those that are common have externalities in extraction and processing, as well as huge labor costs. These are complex issues, and claiming simple math can dismiss the history of colonialism that built the current context, is flawed.

My understanding was that IMEI could be traced to what vendor it was sold to, then they could pull the purchases and either see the card used to buy it, or find the video when the transaction occurred. Guess it depends on whether there is a method to pin which the exact phone without needing to scrub the purchases records.
