if you spread out the homeless proportionately to the population of the country it becomes a much more manageable problem
!supported = doesn’t work
The act, among other things, removed the requirement for the IRS to report on their development of return-free tax filing.
Direct PAC donations are allowed up to $5k. Super PACs are meant to be independent, can't work directly with politicians or campaigns... and therefore have to such limits. They're very often used for "indirect" lobbying.
It's a scam and everyone knows it. The people empowered by the scam are the only ones who can change it.
unfortunately turbotax is also one of the major players trying to prevent tax simplification… so they’ve got a great scheme going
anyway there are more and more free options every year so let’s hope that can start hurting them… I’ve used creditkarma for a couple simple years and it’s great
People blame bureaucracy, and maybe there’s some truth there, but if these people were treated half as well as many tech workers are then maybe we could actually start making progress against the stereotype of miserable experiences.
Not to mention that services like foodstamps can be unreliable… I’ve probably spent hours of my life holding up checkout lines because my card didn’t process…
not having money is one thing, but being poor also obliterates your time if you use various services…which in my experience is worse… you’re always tired and agitated. Someone is always messing up your paperwork, because of course civil servants are often underpaid and overworked themselves.
I worry that if core vitals becomes too strong of a signal it will over homogenize things to the point that we’re further ostracizing parts of the web that aren’t built like fast results pages to get an answer and bounce off of. We need more differing alternatives to Google.
There's no shortage of people linking transgendered people and mental illness, just as there's no shortage of people linking homosexuality to mental illness. If you're not trying to strengthen those assumptions, then use different examples... it seems lazy to just try to hand-wave it away in a sentence rather than using a different example.
>I’m certainly not saying that all trans people have personality disorders or that being trans is a mental illness.
A little bit of whiplash on this one. Despite the sentence or two claiming what the author is purportedly not doing, the rest of the article seems to indicate otherwise. If you don't want an article that makes you look like you're conflating trans people and mental illness... don't use a trans person as a springboard to talk about mental illness.
My point is that their excuse of "there's too much volume for us to manage" is complete bologna. Any physical business with a similar issue would be forced to reduce volume to a rate that's manageable. If Facebook can't moderate their content effectively, then they need to either scale their moderation or reduce their content. I'm tired of this "well, it's a hard problem what are you going to do" nonsense.
