Hope you can convince some more people join hn and answer questions on occasion.
I think julius has phrased things better than me.
Presumably more people there have read hn at least some. But there's perspective having seen the ebb and flow of hn/the rest of the ecosystem for the last 16 years and how that intersects with deepseek culture.
It's clear openai culture is influenced by yc culture, which would be clear to an hn user. Google/ant/spacexai have influences hn users users would be familiar with. Hn users from them would potentially know the friendfeed connections to yc/vc/openai, 500 startups/techstars etc..
I think it's part of an interactions object passed to the feed operator. You can see what's potentially passed here[2].

Was it a japan specific book? I might've missed it but does Morioka operate the book store daily, or the author, or someone else? So many questions..
But that growth seems different from the type of growth that happens in product-market-fit cases. Just makes me wonder what's the missing reagent.
We never really get whole curriculums of them. There's no equivalent to the games/book industry level production. Maybe some medical things. There were educational games for a while but those seem less common..
A whole industry around podcasts and youtube has spawned in a two decades. The scale seems smaller than it ought to be.
I got it a few years ago now so I'm not sure what mice I considered. But I'm always curious to hear if people have found better mmo mice. The 12 buttons + 2 index buttons, the high dpi, the 2.4ghz, the two scroll modes. I really enjoy it.
If you call a bar in SF or a concierge in Vegas, you'll often get a voice chat agent. There's no terms of service you agree to. In aggregate, it's a pretty rich dataset on openai's end.
What happens to your voice, your queries, your PII?
I agree most owners are incentivized to have their leveraged ROIC be high. So they put pretty strong pressure against supply increases.
Defectors (other neighborhoods, cities, regions, states) and other living options might tank actual long term ROIC of supply constrained places. The economics eventually stop working in the supply constrained place as the real cost of housing production is significantly lower elsewhere.
"require all prime contractors and subcontractors at any tier to map and illuminate, as further described in subsection (b) of this section, critical supply chains"
Sec. 3 (b):
"contractors must submit to the Department of War a complete indentured Bill of Materials that traces all components, parts, equipment, software, and materials back to the origin of raw materials in their supply chains"
Sec. 7 "critical supply chain":
"The term “critical supply chain” means all tiers of suppliers and subcontractors providing goods, materials, systems, software, or services that are essential to contract deliverables, mission assurance, security, or resilience, as defined by the Secretary."

I don't really have a good mental model of how ports/files/etc get exposed/permissioned across users. Containers and sandboxing seem much more common than agent-user accounts. Networking seems a little more complicated in the general case.
I roughly went the route of running apple's container-cli (separate vm/kernel per instance I believe) and mount the relevant home directory/projects and bind ports. Seatbelt/linux sandboxing seems simpler sometimes, but has its complications too.
I wonder how long model size and effort will be a few discrete points instead of continuous.
Ha, thank you for surfacing this.
Social media algorithms, newsletters and guest slots expanded my podcast selection too quickly. The 'go direct' movement from tech + indie creators has created too much content.. But the smaller hangout podcasts get a little too off topic..
I haven't really seen anyone do something new with the format this year..
My understanding is that astro isn't considered particularly slow?
People communicate the main thing they want to say and hope the decompression algorithm on the other side sorts the rest out. Most of the time it's very lossy or just broken. But satisfices over the alternative.
I've somehow not come across these preparations. I like barley tea and have made it via other coffee methods. (cold brew/french press.) So I guess espresso makes some sense.
(Also thank you doodlebugging for the other link. I love sora news. I don't know if it's the cadence or playful sincerity or what.)
I think you work so hard for everyone here. Maybe it's a kind of cultural gardening.
What causes something like that? I assume it's related to the speed of sound being dependent on measurements local to the aircraft? I guess I assumed off the shelf devices would already cover this?
Also, I was kinda hoping the first video they released for this would be a little more elaborate. Maybe I'm getting spoiled by the elaborate youtube industry springing up around covering space and tech. Still glad they're releasing news + video so frequently.
Not the zipline style last mile delivery, but something larger. Seems like there's suddenly a lot of autonomous military aircraft, but I haven't really heard about civilian cargo aircraft.

For other out-of-the-loop people, NASA published/funded the game Moonbase Alpha[0], developed by the Army Game Studio and was going to make an MMO called Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond circa 2010? What an era.

There's the idea that "wealth" gains tend to not be taxed for a variety of reasons. The common parlance of "Buy, Borrow, Die" category things. The "step-up in basis" category things - i.e. no capital gains tax realized on lots of inherited wealth. (The inheritance tax might trigger in some cases, but oddly the capital gains tax often might not be triggered on transferred assets because they were never sold and the new possessor will be taxed at the stepped up received value if they ever sell. So there's a chunk of appreciation that never received capital gains taxation.) Trust related things.
There's the idea that 501(c)(4)s allow wealth to be transferred untaxed while retaining control over the assets (particularly because those organizations can engage in political activity, but I'd guess generally some of the organizations exert lots of influence/prestige.)
So perhaps OP is suggesting that maybe there's some fungibility in income tax % and wealth tax %, but when you look at the tax code the equivalency looks pretty weak currently.
