I really like GoCardless but feel that customers might be hesitant to enter that information, especially when they're not used to doing it.
"There are, of course, significant challenges to overcome, specifically with the immediate shortage of computer science teachers."
When I was an ICT teacher I was the only teacher I met who had any programming experience whatsoever. A large number of these teachers would even struggle with GCSE level maths and I do find it difficult to see how to government could train all these teachers to be able to be at a level necessary to teach any programming skills. Unfortunately those people who are qualified very rarely enter teaching.
When I'm finished working on my branch I can submit a pull request. Everyone else on the team gets an email and can take a look at the new changes. We can have a conversation about the code and people can pull the branch and make their own changes. It's all very seamless and works great for remote teams.
One of the biggest drops is after "Mt.Gox, the largest bitcoin exchange, admits its database was compromised and user information leaked."
If you bank "lost" your money there would be outcry. Until people understand and trust these establishments it'll never take off.
This seems like a massive waste of time as most of these teachers spend a large amount of time creating these resources and most of these schools teach very similar syllabuses.
Creating resources like this textbook is a great step forward, if more teachers could collaborate to create really great resources it would not only improve the education provided to students but also free up teachers from spending all of their time creating custom resources.
They found that students who were taught Python instead of Java scored higher on their tests. Languages like Python and Ruby make it far easier for people to jump straight into the code. If I'm learning about linked lists why do I need this main method? Ruby and Python have lots of abstractions which make it easier for someone learning to be able to focus on the problem at hand.
The curriculum also contains some of the most boring subjects known to man. Do students really need to have an understanding of "Change Management". We should be educating them about technology, introducing them to the possibilities and allowing them to create. Some of the most fun lessons I ever taught were on Photoshop, even with knowledge of only a few tools students will create the most fantastic images.
Children are naturally inquisitive and want to know how things work, especially around the internet and games. Unfortunately, most of the time these questions go unanswered because the teachers can't answer them and it's most likely not on the curriculum.
Personally the curriculum is currently worthless, it was incredibly boring to teach and even more boring for students. It's incredibly frustrating when there are so many great things we could be teaching these students to expand their minds and skills.
It would great to hear how this compares to IT curriculums in other countries.
Creating these types of reports is really useful. However, if I was to pay for it I'd like to have more reports and some flexibility in creating them.
There's also a similar issue with web developers who only focus on the backend and can't create decent HTML and CSS.
I think if you're working on anything web related you really need to be able to write decent HTML and CSS.
However, knowing his political positions would immediately put you in either a positive or negative (depending on your position) frame of mind and would stop you from having a fair and balanced opinion.
Wait, who am I kidding, that's just wishful thinking.
What are the main things that differentiate you from similar products like Geckoboard? Also it'd be pretty cool to get a list of all the widgets that you currently have.
People who visit on holiday say how wonderful the place is, beautiful beaches and clear blue seas. But move to other areas of the island and it's a completely different place. Walk 5 minutes down the road from the fanciest hotel and there's a shanty town.
Mauritius certainly has a great opportunity and is probably better than a lot of the other African countries, but it still has a long way to go.
Custom error pages for these kinds of errors would be very useful.
We're looking for a Rails developer to join our London based team. You'll be joining our team in the heart of Soho to work on our employee volunteering platform. If you're a developer looking to do some good then this might be the place for you.
We just posted a job post up on Github: http://jobs.github.com/positions/a9838284-cd77-11df-8c7c-acf...
I was really hoping people would take the original Etherpad and run with it, but instead there have just been numerous sites running the original code base.
