bernardhalas··on Show HN: A Brutalist-Design Chat Web App
/rooms doesn't show any rooms. Is there anyone to chat with? :)
bernardhalas··on Show HN: TrendCycle – Hacker News
I have an impression that you miss to set expectations about what trendhacker.news really is. I look at it and I see a mixture of topics which have very little in common - e.g. books recommended by Bill Gates, next to it an information about pharmacy franchise company bought by another company - i.e. non-tech information followed with some military information. Are you just randomly extracting info from HN and putting a picture to it?

Could you please shed some light (and consider putting a one-liner somewhere to the top of the page) what to expect from trendhacker.news?

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Smart Desk
The catch-phrase doesn't suit my taste well.

I like the design and the price is affordable from my perspective. I got into the checkout-phase and I was surprised to see free shipping to Slovakia, Europe. Is that really the case? :)

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Buttercal – Sunrise Calendar Meet, Back from the Dead
My first thought - I don't get it. I send 1-5 emails for scheduling? Of what?

Then later I got it. Do you differ from doodle in any way?

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Pathjet – Personal Productivity for Makers
+1 for option to try it out without email sign-up. I hate it to sign-up everywhere (for trial access as well) with my emails. I went directly with this option.

I haven't heard about the pomodoro concept, but it sounds interesting and I definitely want to try it out. Your app looks like a nice way to start.

I feel there's still some work on the design part to be done as currently it looks very "plain".

What are the options - novice, intermediate, advanced in the settings? Also, how much does your service cost?

Good luck!

bernardhalas··on Show HN: City Life – daily hunt for fun stuff in NYC
Definitely an interesting concept. It works well on mobile (better than on desktop from my perspective).

What are the categories of places that appear in the list? Is there any dynamics in the list? How often is the list re-created? It's not fully clear to me what items appear in your list. Can we also expect to see future events (like concerts tonight, gallery expositions,...)?

Is is possible to see/filter from categories? It would be great to add more cities to the list. I'd love to have this in Europe!

bernardhalas··on Show HN: PayOnDelivery – Payment and SameDay Delivery platform for local markets
Do I understand right that this is an agregator for local online marketplaces (facebook marketplace, letgo...)?

What's meant by one-time transaction fee "-5.25%"? Does it mean that you give some discount? To whom? To seller or to the buyer?

Are you limited to any regions (US/EU/...?)

I tried to log-in using my facebook account (as a buyer, then also as a seller), but the login process was stuck for more than a minute before I cancelled it.

I don't really get what's the added value of your service. Is it that you arrange the delivery for items that are meant to be picked-up locally?

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Movie recommendation, Read plot before name
Very good idea. Usually the way I choose movies is that I (on IMDB) read the plot, then ratings, afterwards the category and finally eventually reviews/comments.

Any chance to add the other information to the list as well? It would be interesting to list the movies by categories as I tend to skip 'romance' :)

Also, I like the minimalist design of the website. I think it suits well the purpose.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Pogo – Host your own podcasts
Nice presentation page, but it doesn't explain how does this work. It says I can host my own podcasts. What exactly is meant by that? I can host podcast on a hard-drive on a machine with public IP. Or I can host the podcasts on AWS S3. What's the added value of your tool?

What's the architecture of your solution? What are the benefits? I can look into the source myself, but if the tool is meant for an average audio-blogger who is not a SW developer (who would look into github and try to understand what this is by reading the source), then I guess you need to share more info on this matter. Is this command-line only? If this has a GUI, any chance to see some screenshots? Does this allow streaming? If so, how? Does this tool come bundled with a web-server?

From my perspective if you want people to try this out a little you need to set some (positive) expectations.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Cheapest multicity flight finder
Fair enough. I worked for Amadeus (airline IT service provider).
bernardhalas··on Show HN: Directory for kids with allergies
The missing part from my perspective is an information about what to expect on your site, e.g. "this site aggregates information for people with allergies and organizes it into the following categories:..."
bernardhalas··on Show HN: Check your website in 10 screen resolutions by scrolling through a PDF
Thanks for sharing. This looks really good. Any chance to add a custom resolution to the list? Also thanks for the ability to have first 5 sites free of charge.

Also, 30 mins have passed and I haven't received any reply :)

bernardhalas··on Show HN: StaffMapper – Broadcast Your Availability
I see this is a resource manager, but looking closer - just human resource, correct?

I click on "see how it works" and the information I get is very brief. Did I understand right that the staff will have an app and they will either interactively click or put it into calendar when exactly they are available?

Usually I'm free when my calendar is free (and my colleagues can see that). If I want to block some time for my work or for a meeting that I'm about to attend, then I put it to the calendar. It looks like you do the same, just in a inverted way. Could you please shed some light if there's any added value compared to the traditional outlook/google calendar approach?

Any chance to see some screenshots or a video?

Thank you and good luck!

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Cheapest multicity flight finder
The information that this is a multi-city flight finder you could put on the website directly. I opened several tabs from HN at once, then going through them and looking at this one - like what is this for?

It took me a while to see that the airport is the departing airport. Why is Vienna missing (when you have other smaller airports in the list)? And nothing has been found for MUC on 29Nov17 :(

Perhaps you could shed some light on how this works and where you source the information from.

I worked for 1A, perhaps I can help.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Directory for kids with allergies
First of all - thank you for putting together the site with the aim to ease the pain and avoid the risk of loosing life that allergy might cause.

I look at your website for like 10 seconds and I don't understand it. I see there are some categories (of information perhaps?). I'm curious to see what's under "Governments". Is this some conspiracy information? I click to find out. Ok, I see, there's a link to a UK agency that deals with allergies in some way.

A similar confusion there is when looking at other categories. Is this some dictionary for allergic people? Are you aggregating news from the research of allergies? Is there some user forum for people who have allergies?

There's a nice TED talk - What, Why and How you might want to look at: https://www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_insp... On your website you revealed 'What' (you want to help by building the site), 'Why' (you suffer from allergy yourself), but to me it's not clear 'How' the site should help people.

I don't want to sound negative. Please keep up the work, I guess there's a demand for the information you want to provide, but in order to increase the value of the site and increase its reach, please think about how to improve it.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: CoinGap – Monitor arbitrage opportunities
So... I have filled-in the filters and nothing happened (on Google Chrome)
bernardhalas··on Show HN: Improving the recruitment experience for companies staff and candidates
The first impression I had was that you provide SME businesses a team that would assist in recruiting. Then I've read further and I understood that you are promoting tools for recruiters. But could you be more specific?

I've worked as a technical recruiter for a start-up where we tried 2-3 tools (I forgot the names already), so I have a basic idea what's offered on the market. I don't understand though what do you offer. There's no screenshot, no list of features, nothing that identifies you or sets your product apart from the market.

I think the info you provide on the website is not sufficient to raise my interest.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Klublr – the fully integrated platform for sports group organizers
After I read the first few sentences I thought this could be the tool I want to start using right now.

From the main page I got an idea that the tool is about sport events and rich notification system (in case of reminders and reschedules I assume). I have moved recently and I'm looking for hobby groups that occasionally meet and play sports like soccer or basketball. Is this something Klublr could help me with? Is it possible to list events publicly there?

My Facebook login failed with exceptions and some SQL codes. The chat support window comes in non-English language, while the rest of the page is in English.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: What do you think about this page? I am a newbie to web design.
Good job. I can imagine giving you a web-design job. I have no idea what this would be worth though. I wouldn't be paying much more than $300 if I was a start-up. If you want to check how much this could be worth - ask that on upwork for example. Post a job and wait for the reply from the random set of UI designers, ask for quote and check their portfolio to get an idea how good and expensive they are.
bernardhalas··on Show HN: Geeki – a Reddit alternative in HN and Twitter style
I was never too much into Reddit. But I liked Geeki. I'd prefer to fine-tune categories and I can imagine way more programming and IT pro categories myself.
bernardhalas··on Show HN: Make My Drive Fun – plan a road trip with funky places along the way
Cool idea with a design matching the purpose of the website (from my perspective).

Any chance to expand this to other continents as well? What's blocking you from including Europe for example?

I did a test search (New York, NY to Montreal, Canada) and I got a pop-up asking me to spread the knowledge on social network if I like the site - at this point in time it's too soon to ask for that, consider moving that to a later stage of the workflow.

Perhaps you could consider limiting the suggestions to random ~30 results no matter the length of the trip as to me it looks like that currently the longer the journey, the more suggestions you give.

Other than that, I became strongly interested as this type of travelling we prefer. I'd love to learn about the news on the progress, would it be possible to sign-up for a newsletter?

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Comb – an issue tracker that focuses on prioritizing
From a quick glance this seems to be a tool that helps with the task prioritization and distribution. It's not clear to me if this is a webapp or if this is a desktop/mobile app (and which platforms are supported).

It seems like your tool integrates with some tools (I see 3 icons) but I'm familiar with the GitHub icon only. What are the other 2 icons for?

https://www.withcomb.com/attributes/ I don't know what did you mean here at all (I'm a SW developer btw).

The animations are great, they add a lot of value (because otherwise it would be difficult to imagine what are you talking about). It would be interesting to see a video that would show things like basic setup, integration with git, team task management,... so that I get better understanding how could we use this tool. Currently it seems it's meant for simple tasks as if I have a more complex one I'd give it to a concrete person who was the best suited for it.

Also, your site targets mainly SW development businesses (also based on your animations), but I believe this could work very well in other businesses too. Perhaps if you make the site more understandable for general public, it could be of a value.

Also, I'm sorry, but I don't know what feature shall I imagine after reading this: https://www.withcomb.com/button-actions/

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Sorcerer – Professionally written blog posts for your company
Hello,

after having a quick look it's easy to understand what your page is about. The design is pleasant, clean and supports readability.

I'd have a few questions or comments, if I may: 1) What's the reason for starting the flow by "request an invite"? Is this a closed community? Are there only some people or businesses allowed to use your service? Or did you mean something like "start cooperation" instead?

2) It's in your FAQ, but to make the service more trustworthy, shed more light on your writers. Even if this is just a start-up and you are the only-one writing blogs, I'd say that including your profile. There are several services like this and writers are the key selling point which makes the difference.

3) Also, my suggestion would be to limit the scope of blogs (perhaps you want to do some testing on this suggestion). Your blogging business looks small. And I don't believe you can blog well about science, IT, cooking and gardening at the same time. Try to be best in limited domain and then scale it from there.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Empathize – manage user conversations easily
I like the UI and the design. The tool feels well integrated. However I'm not sure of the added value. What's the difference compared to the invite I send out directly from Google Calendar?

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Take control of your time, increase your productivity
Very nice UI. It seems your product is already fairly complex and offers a decent set of features.

Usually I track items in the kanban boards, in the excel spreadsheets and in my notepad. For me as a visitor and potential client it's not clear what's the extra value your tool could provide me with compared to my old tools and habits.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Daycare Software
Do I understand right that this could be a software for managing a daycare center (kindergarten or for elderly people?)

I like that the page is simple and easy to read, on the other hand I don't really know much about the product behind. Is this just meant for checking if there's a demand for this software? Do you guys have any demo that you could show already?

bernardhalas··on Show HN: GeekJobs.io – a daily listing of all geek jobs on a map
Same here - I entered "Munich" and nothing came up. In the list below there were only US jobs listed so I was wondering if this is portal is focused on the US market only. However looking into the map I saw there were supposed to be 41 jobs listed in Munich.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Blockchain for everyday life
Hi, what's the value I get if I store something in the blockchain (and apparently I'd need to pay for it in the future?). Perhaps you would like to explain that on your page or give some examples?

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Collaborative todo list app – to reduce the email load in my office
Hi, how can I do that technically?

Other than that I like this approach. It looks simple and intuitive. It would be interesting though to see if there's a possibility to add more details behind each todo item. If you send emails to people asking them to do something, often one line is not enough to explain that.

bernardhalas··on Show HN: Simple cryptocurency prices info chrome extension
I like the way charts are implemented on coinmarketcap.com.

It's a combination of the second proposal of yours, but it's also complemented with zooming by clicking directly on the chart itself.
