I guess loud noises sell more bikes because the riders tend to be obnoxiously noisy assholes.

It reminds me of DogPile which used to be a search engine of search engines in the 90s.

Whenever I think of Vice I think of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia7fUQXskvA

Even if the tech is secure there are still thousands of foreign employees working in those companies. It's not uncommon for people to be sympathisers of their homeland. And it's not symmetrical since very few westerners work for Alibaba, Huawei etc.

It's the elephant in the room and it has small ears.

Even if were twice as performant as M2 the windows laptop companies would ruin it with their tacky plastic chassis and tiny little touchpad.

Sitemap footer is not the best idea since I lose my scroll position.

Yes.

I recommend watching The Poison Squad documentary which digs into the reasons the FDA was formed in the first place. The meat packing industry used to sell a lot of spoiled food containing chemicals unsafe for human health.

Incentives are good but you still have to watch out for greenwashing lies. If you take a look at carbon credits for instance there is an incentive to plant trees but what happens in reality is quite different; the industry is full of frauds such as not planting out forests that are on someones books. Sure you can use cardboard for a a lot of things but liquids and pressurized goods like soda are difficult. I don't think there is a way to have a biodegradable coke bottle. We need go to standard sizes of glass or s/s packaging. It will require infrastructure and it will cost some money which of course the companies won't like.

Pollution needs to be stopped at the source. I worry that this will be used by marking assholes, the same ones that invented the so called 'recycling' logo on plastic packaging, to keep on filling the planet with waste as usual. Hey look we don't need to ban anything, make lifestyle changes or assume chemicals are unsafe until proven otherwise because look there is this magic machine that can 'annihilate' our waste.

I put my plastic packaging in a recycling bin that is picked up by the municipality. Everything seems to come in plastic packaging but I try to avoid it where possible. I grow my own vegetables. They like to tell me I'm doing the right thing but I know it all ends up in some poorer country. The consumer doesn't really have any sway at the bottom of the cliff. Ban at the source.

The other way is to reuse very inert materials like stainless steel or glass. Outlaw all the silly marketing designs and make them standarized like shipping containers and buy them back from the consumer. It used to work this way before plastics came along anyway. Beer and milk bottles would be swapped for instance.

> she wants something new

Probably because the marketing industry has tricked us into this way of thinking. The traditional model of buying good quality 'goods' and passing them through generations is not good for business. They even managed to sell bottled water and a lot of people drive SUVs to go to the shops. I bought a couch recently and I could not find one with washable covers. Companies love selling tacky shit that we'll have to replace in a few years and it's terrible for the planet. I feel there should be a tax on fragile, low quality junk or perhaps a 10 year warranty or disposal costs baked into the price. The external cost of the pollution (microplastics, e-waste etc) is not factored into the price of anything. I try to buy used if I can but admittedly it's not always easy to make the trades compared to buying from a retail box store.

You are confused so you try to get everyone around you to redefine their vocabulary.

It's everywhere. A couple of examples:

Native advertising in the media.

Mass produced foods and products pretending to be artisan.

1. Alice turns a concise summary into corporate bullshit using AI and sends it to Bob.

2. Bob uses AI to convert Alice's corporate bullshit into concise summary.

The parent comment amounted to ethnically cleansing the Korean population. It might not involve guns and it might take a 3-4 generations but that is what happens when immigration doors are opened at the behest of corporation lobbied governments with no consideration for the local population.

People aren't breeding because it takes much longer to complete an education and save up for a home. Immigration doesn't address this.

Immigration at a large scale replaces the culture and race of the locals so what you're suggesting is that Korean people and Korean culture are worth nothing. Let's just make every place on earth a globalist culture with the same people, same language, same brands etc etc. No.

A lot of qualifications serve as a very expensive proof of cognitive abilities. I guess it would be discrimination to just test IQ directly.

> Drop shipping, or the practice of PURCHASING cheap goods, usually from China, and selling them on a legitimate-seeming website for profit

Vox doesn't even understand what drop shipping is. The whole point is that the goods don't need to be owned. Vox are mad people are watching dumb videos instead of their own low quality articles.

Shilling my web game: redactle-unlimited.com A redacted wikipedia article is displayed and you must uncover the title. It's inspired by redactle.com which has been offline for a couple weeks.

Is this really a problem for windows users? My macbook has a massive touch pad and I don't recall my palm ever triggering it once.

Cool idea. I've used Github Copilot to do a lot of translations but this looks much easier.

It's a pity Vercel has a cli login wall to even run the app. I tried the Github option and it didn't work. My first impression of Vercel is not good. Unfortunately the demo app threw some errors in the console on file I tested with.

I've seen this play out in a non-US country. My friend with wealthier parents got his loans paid because his parents didn't earn an 'income' and thus the state interpreted them as being poor. In reality they were fairly well off business owners who had a good accountant who channeled the cash flows through the lowest taxed entities.

It doesn't make much economic sense for millions of people to upscale vs YouTube doing it once and storing the output.

Golang has to be the worst language for this problem considering it's young age. It was launched the same year at this post so it would have been a great opportunity back then to deal with the problem in a fresh language without needing to worry about compatibility constraints. It also doesn't have any ?. operator to elegantly deal with the problem. I know fast compilation and explicitness are the goals with go but I think this was a mistake.

Is it a small number? I would guess most jobs in the City of London wouldn't exist if the loopholes were closed.

Yes and they do it under the pretence of solving sexual slavery or child sexual abuse...yet at the same time how many global leaders have visited J.Epstein's island?

It's a shame Mercurial became a betamax since it's much more user friendly.

Every time I have to fill in some AML (anti-money laundering) form I think how much of a waste of time and money it is for every party involved since the real big fish are getting around it with professional help. It's all very kafkaesque and invasive so I come to the conclusion it's more about powerful governments existing to gain more power than it is about solving any injustice.
