Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell is the book that got me interested in economics. It's a large but easy to understand read.

The card machine probably wasn't broken. A lot of taxis have told me the card machine was broken until I said I would only pay via a card. Then it magically worked again. I assume this is because they pocket some of the cash.

There are so many moving parts that it's so easy to screw up. An amazing script can get ruined by a bad director, actors, editor, executives with bad notes, etc.

Also, I'm sure with so much money involved, people are more likely to meddle in the director's vision so you get too many cooks in the kitchen.

It didn't help that they changed the name to Live Die Repeat for its home release. My wife doesn't like action movies or Tom Cruise but loved Edge of Tomorrow. That movie was definitely a missed opportunity.

Those screenplay critiquing services can be super helpful. I used one and it helped show me through unbiased eyes the flaws in a screenplay I wrote. Though I'm sure she has to read a lot of awful screenplays (the one I submitted was bad though I didn't realize it until I got the feedback).

I've been a paying subscriber of Rdio for at least 3+ years. I loved that Rdio let me explore other people's playlists, often leading to discover new favorite songs. Also never liked Spotify's UI. I'm bummed to switch.

Part of it is also things getting so good in the world (most people in America don't have to worry about shelter or food) that people start to invent problems or find challenges to solve.

There's even an app called Fountain that lets you facetime with a plumber who then tells you what to buy/fix. I tried it when my bathtub faucet wouldn't shut off. It was surprisingly convenient.

Impressive. One typo in the video. It should say 120 fps at 720p. When I saw the text I wondered why anyone would film in 720p.

The watch excels at glances. Anything that can just be glanced at performs better on the Apple Watch. An example is turn by turn directions. It's much easier to get them via the Apple Watch than look down at the iPhone.

If the display was always on, it would be distracting, especially in dark environments (movie theater, concert, night time in general).

Apple Pay on the Apple Watch is the easiest and fastest method of payment I've used. Simply double-tap a button and hold your wrist next to the reader. It's even faster than Apple Pay on the iPhone (and I can't drop my Watch), which makes paying with a credit card feel as slow as writing a check.

If every retailer offered Apple Pay, I would use it every time. It's especially convenient if I happen to forget my wallet.

That said, I hope the Apple Watch will eventually track sleep. I haven't found a good replacement for sleep tracking since Wake Mate shut down.

Agreed. I found Lynda.com to be amazing for learning programs like Final Cut in a very short amount of time.

It's not difficult to use a lot of the examples from Cialdini to become more successful. Adding reviews or top clients to your website (social proof), stating that you only have 3 items left in stock (scarcity), giving free samples (reciprocity), etc.

The menu looks a little goofy, but overall the experience of reading the links is now far better on my iPhone 6.
