bedros··on Nuitka: A Python Compiler
how different is this from cx_freeze? is it faster? (compile or execution)
bedros··on Show HN: Diamond – Full-stack web-framework in D
any examples of templates? I hated the templates provided by vibed they are too implicit for my taste
bedros··on 1.1.1.1: Fast, privacy-first consumer DNS service
how would you setup https with DNS?
bedros··on Show HN: Scout – See lower direct hotel rates as you browse online travel agents
I use firefox as my main browser, it's a shame I need to switch to chrome to get scout functionality
bedros··on Clang Is Now Used to Build Chrome for Windows
Apple hired developers of Clang and started supporting Clang around the time GPLv3 was being pushed by FSF, Apple at the time was using GCC in their development and feared that GPLv3 would taint their code.

other than technical merits, permissible license of Clang is attractive for some developers/businesses

bedros··on Show HN: Remote Desktop from any browser
if you install Guacamole on a server, what kind of software to be installed on machines that need remote access? there's no mention of how to access windows machines, even thought it's in the demo?
bedros··on Xi: an editor for the next 20 years [video]
How small the binaries are, with a GUI (GTK, KDE, or QT), if I need to install in a system with no root permissions (local install) that's what I like about sublime, I can install it in home directory without needing admin help.

would you support plugins in a scripting language like python?

bedros··on How to Run Your Own Mail Server (2017)
What webmail client people tried with their own setup that they like?
bedros··on JS Paint – A web-based MS Paint remake
after years of searching for a low cost editor I can use on either mac or Linux I found these two. Pixelmator has tons of tutorials

pixelmator for OS X ($60)

pixeluvo for Linux ($35 only) but worth 10X that.

my first go to is pixeluvo since I use linux as my daily machine.

bedros··on Show HN: Plait.py – a fake data modeler
What advantages over faker
bedros··on FileNation – A simple way to send files using IPFS
is there authentication? or the generated link is the secret

what happens if I lose the link?

bedros··on XPS 13 developer edition 7th generation available
I bought XPS 15 9550 two years ago, maxed out with specs, and totally regret paying extra for touch screen and the hi-def screen, what a waste of money.

the screen cannot be folded backward so touch screen cannot be used as tablet and thus wasting my money

hi-def screen is is useless on 15" display

other than that, my laptop is working fine with no HW issues

bedros··on How Atlassian Built a $10B Growth Engine
I know Intel uses JIRA heavily from colleagues

I work at another ASIC company (Storage Industry) and we use JIRA as main issue tracker; JIRA feels very tailored for ASIC, at least the version at our company

bedros··on How Atlassian Built a $10B Growth Engine
What differentiates JIRA from other issue trackers is that it's very popular with Chip/Asic companies; they have support for all chip design phases, which other issue trackers lack.

in other words, they found a market need others ignored, and they served it.

bedros··on Darktable 2.4.0 released
I wish they support photo management, at least import photos into organized folders by date
bedros··on RISC-V Vector Extension overview and proposal [video]

bedros··on Comcast is injecting 400+ lines of JavaScript into web pages
Cox is also trying to sell new modems to its customers. Last year when I called cox in California complaining about slow speed at prime time (6-9p) the customer rep told me getting a newer modem will make it faster; I told her my modem is only 3 years old; and asked her how a newer modem would make it faster, she could not answer that

I think we should have a regulation that forces ISP to post the average speed of their networks at peek time everytime they advertise their theoretical network.

bedros··on Using Rust in Mercurial
how would they deal with hg extensions written in Python?
bedros··on CUPS License Change Coming
I wish someone gets ghostscript-like tools for processing PS to be license under a license other than GPL2 (older) and new releases under AGPL
bedros··on Home Assistant is an open-source home automation platform running on Python 3

bedros··on Ask HN: Do you recomment mercurial hg with subrepos, what's best practice?

bedros··on Ask HN: Do you recomment mercurial hg with subrepos, what's best practice?
how easy is to pull/push and clone master-repo and its subrepo, is there any gotcha?
bedros··on Matcha – A framework for building iOS and Android apps in Go
can someone explains how this is different from ReactNative, Phonegap, etc.

I've never done production mobile app, just played with examples on iOS and Android, wondering if this is a good framework to play with and eventually use for production mobile apps

bedros··on Freight startup Flexport soars from ‘unsexy’ to $800M valuation
I don't get it, from the video, they say brokers make 3-5 billion a year, yet, they value the company at 800 million?

I've never seen a startup valued at this large percentage of market size

please correct me if I'm wrong

bedros··on Kotlin vs. Scala
anybody has a good experience using Kotlin to develop android App for real world use
bedros··on Zircon Kernel, Core Drivers and Services
I'm not a lawyer, but after reading the patent file, it seems to me that it only covers the kernel implementation; unlike facebook patent clause which covers everything.
bedros··on Why Is Python Growing So Quickly?
I use sublime for python development, don't use fancy debug features, just print statements
bedros··on Restic Cryptography
I wish the author compares it to borg backup which supports encryption and deduplication
bedros··on 5 GPU Ethereum Mining Rig Build Guide
what's a good guide for AMD GPUs R280
bedros··on YouTube AI deletes war crimes evidence as 'extremist material'
very related to this article about facebook [0]

corporations control what info passed to people, and create their own version of reality, but blocking what they don't agree with.

I know it's AI, but seems that google appeal agrees with AI decision.

people should read Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing consent book, here's interview about it in 1992 [1]
