bechampion··on More, less, and a story of typical Unix fossilization
doing simple "df" "du" "find -exec" it still complex/verbose TODAY using powershell , I find disgusting that you compare bash to powershell (I'm not even talking about speed)
bechampion··on Cisco to lay off about 14,000 employees
the annoying and stupid modularity of it ...
bechampion··on Debian turns 23
around 17 years ago i remember flapping betwee slack and debian .... debian package management was always superior so i stayed ... still using debian today. Also remember that I've always liked gnome-panel but not the whole desktop env , so i would use window maker + gnome-panel :) .
bechampion··on Ask HN: Anyone here use a Hackintosh as one of their main machines?
I've used one for 2 years ... things worked and it was rather stable ... but stay away from updates. Later i bought a macbook and used it for a while , now days I run ubuntu , everything works well for software dev and all that ... but webex and other fancy webapps(flash or activex) are always a problem. My company uses lync , so i use a combination between bitlbee weechat and bitlbee-libpurple ... works but sharing desktops and voice calls obviously can't be done.

Good luck!

bechampion··on Ask HN: What's your favorite way to save money?
I do something that's been working for me: i save X amount every month ... if I save > X then it makes me happy , the rule is never save less than X , whatever it takes. I don't buy expensive clothes anymore or go on the piss massively you now it's all about balance.
bechampion··on Nano is no longer a GNU project

bechampion··on Why Do Islands Induce Dwarfism?
I live in England , this is true.
bechampion··on Coding without Google
Wouldn't be a great idea a VLOG of someone coding without internet at all ,and talking about the pros and cons?

Once I moved to a small town , and I didn't have too much money for proper broadband , so I had 2 hours of dial-up every day.

I remember using that time much more efficiently and trying to download PDFs and such for the following hours , a lot of the things I've read in books/PDFs then I still remember today after 10 years. (Basic unix IPC and others)

Some of the things I've read online yesterday I don't remember today ha!

bechampion··on Who Needs Git When You Have ZFS?
Well.. I get the funny side of the comparison , they're two different things..
bechampion··on Scaling to 100M: MySQL Is a Better NoSQL
I love mysql , saved my ass many times , but this article doesn't mean anything .. it just says that you can use subqueries and joins to do "nosql"... we all know that .. you can also use a text file. I'd like if mysql copies what postgres has done with hstore.
bechampion··on Roundcube Webmail 1.2.0 released with PGP support

bechampion··on Roundcube Webmail 1.2.0 released with PGP support
Well, this quest I'm referring to was probably 2003/4 , I don't know what was the state of owa then.
bechampion··on Roundcube Webmail 1.2.0 released with PGP support

bechampion··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (May 2016)
to all employers: Could you please avoid asking "What's your favourite thing about this company" unless you're called Facebook, Google,Github? It's likely that we (applicants) never used your services and it gets a little awkward. Much Love.
bechampion··on Show HN: Change screen layout when connecting/disconnecting monitors
feel your frustration , I just never take mine of the dock cause i can't be arsed anymore.
bechampion··on Bash on Ubuntu on Windows
that's almost as easy as just typing "du -sh"
bechampion··on Bash on Ubuntu on Windows
Man i do think this is a big step for windows , it's 2016 and still complex to pull a du -sh or df on windows. Things we take for granted on *nixes. Much love.
bechampion··on Bash on Ubuntu on Windows

bechampion··on Writing a very fast cache service with millions of entries in Go

bechampion··on That awkward moment when Apple mocked good hardware and poor people
I own a macbook and I love it but, what I really need is
