beardyw··on Reddit is killing RSS feeds and ending public API access because of AI bots
Is no one looking at the problem? It is not caused by Reddit, it is not caused by RSS, it's caused by misuse of something many of us value by/for AI. AI is not just biting the hand that feeds it, it's killing it.

> It's added automatically

Thanks, that is what I thought, but I have never submitted a video.

To the OP, it's there for a reason, don't remove it.

"Who are the noisy people outside?"

"They are some vendors" seems natural to me, suggesting that the group of vendors is known to the person answering.

beardyw··on How, Exactly, Could A.I. Kill Us?
We have been doing that all of recorded history and we are still here. It would take enormous effort or a moderate environment change to kill us all.

beardyw··on Apple launches a new way to prove a photo was shot with an iPhone (not AI)

beardyw··on Altman tells staff OpenAI is open to slowing AI development
Yes that and and Math problems don't pay the rent.
beardyw··on Naomi Klein: Extreme wealth has a deranging effect. Turns you into a supremacist
“I have found the image of a spiral really useful, in terms of how to make sense of the fact that our era is both familiar and different,” Klein says. “The thing about a spiral is that you’re going round, but you’re not going to the same place. If the spiral is pointing down, it’s deeper, it’s tighter, it’s carrying more velocity, it’s carrying more force, it’s carrying more heat, it’s carrying more violence.”

beardyw··on Show HN: Appreciate art with the White Lotus intro
Sorry, given your background I thought you might take my point. Didn't mean to accuse you of anything other than being kind. I know people tend to feel inadequate about art unnecessarily.
beardyw··on Show HN: Appreciate art with the White Lotus intro
A good answer for people who don't appreciate art, but you and I know it misses the point. Anyone who stops to think knows that the artist wasn't trying to rely on an explanatory label added by a gallery or a web site, they wanted the work to speak for itself or not at all.

We should be encouraging people to enjoy work for what it is, and if they don't see the point of it, to move on.
