beagledude··on Netflix Splits DVD And Streaming Businesses
has everyone forgotten how limited the streaming service is? They should have waited until they at least have a selection. I'm going DVD service, and Amazon for streaming.
beagledude··on Yahoo employees: Get out now before the vultures descend
"None of that is going to change unless something really dramatic happens." do you really not think you're in this dramatic situation now?

experience can do in 40 hours what younger, inexperienced can do in 80. As you build your tool chest, things become faster and less mistake prone.

beagledude··on Joel Spolsky Launches Trello - Organize Anything Together
would be nice if you could purchase an installable paid version for internal company use. It looks like a step up from pivotal tracker

playing with an account now, the drop and drop has a nice little effect on it. Promising!

beagledude··on Unique Error Phrases
you don't report anything to the user other than you're issue has been logged, when cust service looks up the user account they'll be able to pick out incidents themselves and verify with the user.

"Hello Bob, I see you have 4 incidents today that we've logged, are you calling about the issue with the Dashboard page?"

beagledude··on Unique Error Phrases
seems like overengineering. Keep an index based on the user id with a sequence of date incidents and show the user a list of incidents with page location context.

Having the user remember a date seems more reasonable than some phrase they have to copy and paste from somewhere.

Would the user rather see this list: Crash Incidents:

Section: Dashboard, Date: 08-20-2011 5:30amPST, Count: 2

Section: Report Page 1, Date: 08-22-2011 9:30amPST, Count: 1

or Crash Incidents:

12 old crickets buzz happily

9 young monkeys smoke slowly

Asana makes weird decisions sometimes.

Comp sci "puzzles" are one thing but questions like "how many gas stations are there in Oakland" makes the interviewer look dumb.

beagledude··on Why I'd never work for Google, Twitter, or Facebook
I needed new tires for my car, got a google ad for a new set of tires from a local place with a $100 rebate, got the tires, got my rebate the other day in the mail. Advertising just saved me $100, it's not ALL evil.

beagledude··on My Standing Desk Experiment
I started the standing desk around 3 months ago and noticed an almost immediate improvement in my posture and back discomfort. I tried to be realistic and try 1 hour, then 2, then 3. I then moved to getting a treadmill desk at the office: http://bit.ly/nHuCRr now that's baller. You can easily code walking at 1mph, just enough to keep your legs moving. I try to get 1-3 hours a day on the treadmill desk these days.

here are some other desk setups I've been working with http://bit.ly/noPYyY - original makeshift desk at work http://bit.ly/o6vDEi - current home office setup

Some keys to success, make sure your monitor is eye level and you're typing at a 90 degree angle, and get a gel pad to stand on, makes a huge difference.

beagledude··on My Standing Desk Experiment
I've gone to the treadmill desk http://bit.ly/nHuCRr at the office and it's been working out great, no complaints so far :)
