beacon294··on Qwen 3.8 follows GPT-5.5 Pro reasoning prefills
I've read an embarrassing amount of Qwen 3.8 27b cot and it's nothing like this. I'm not refuting the OP, though, which is about continuation.
beacon294··on The "$60 Gaming PC" – AMD BC-250 (2025)
You can, it's kind of cool to have this capability on something gaming at such a low price tag. Its not optimal for your time but beats nothing by a LOT. And that model is pretty reliable.

beacon294··on What we want is a hunter gatherer lifestyle with space age tools
It just depends how far through the eye of the needle we already went, and how far we have to go. I don't want to go backwards. Humans are adapting, always locally, and never uniformly.
beacon294··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
I won't belittle their hard work, but there's a qualifier here that they're bidding the most for the foundry time, or else nvidia would have the fastest chips.
beacon294··on I like 'em thick: an apology to my English teachers
Although it can be annoying to step into someone else's situational language/definitions/grammar, it can be a good rhetorical trick to shed the preexisting cultural context of a preexisting term such as depth.
beacon294··on I like 'em thick: an apology to my English teachers
What a good article, I really love the punchline at the end. If you skim the article, you can't even tell it's there.

That certainly increased the thickness of the article, for me.

beacon294··on Unsloth Dynamic 3.0 GGUFs
Try the llama.cpp fork by thetom. It's called turboquant after the technique
beacon294··on GPT-5.6 Sol Pricing Cut by 50% on OpenRouter
Check the remainder for hallucination for sure.
beacon294··on Superlogical
yes, dev tooling investment has always been disappointing. Mainly due to stingy buyers.
beacon294··on The iPhone Upgrade Program is being replaced by Apple Upgrade
LLMs are set to.increase hardware demands a lot. Although I don't necessarily think this is related to the program change.

I know this comment is deep in a thread, but to me it looks like they simply prefer to own the whole apple device payment cycle and not use partners.

BNPL has been a huge bubble outside the traditional credit bubble, this is the same. It doesn't seem like a big divergence excepting that it gives them a contact point and a stick with which to prod customer into a new phone sooner.

beacon294··on Our Amish Language
I know the word, thanks I think?
beacon294··on Our Amish Language
It's completely plausible the author's experience is a valid projection of the people they were surrounded by and also valid.
beacon294··on Einstein's relativity rules chemical bonds in heavy elements, new research shows
It would be the element underneath it which is synthetic. But it is interesting that all the elements in that row are soft or brittle in pre form or in some compounds.
beacon294··on Honey, We Bought an AI Story
Technicality everyone can do that in perpetuity :)
beacon294··on GPT-5.5 Codex reasoning-token clustering may be leading to degraded performance
I'm on the same journey but I bought a 3090 and put qwen 3.6 27b on it. It covers some things with better reliability. Obviously it doesn't have the breadth of a large model. If that's even a selling point for large models for coding?
beacon294··on GPT-5.5 Codex reasoning-token clustering may be leading to degraded performance
That's not a real equivalency. They are not necessarily the same (testing in production, hello!) And most importantly you do not have a local model because openai is not open!
beacon294··on Qwen 3.6 27B is the sweet spot for local development
I'll read it. It could be the quants too. Some quants I try are inexplicably bad, some seem better than official (or unsloth) quants... even what should be run of the mill gguf quantization.
beacon294··on Qwen 3.6 27B is the sweet spot for local development
I find that fp8 cache can be pretty bad in vllm but works fine in llama.cpp. I don't know why, but I plan to review the implementations.
beacon294··on I used Claude Code to get a second opinion on my MRI
What country / municipality are you in? This is not my understanding of Tuberculosis...
beacon294··on I used Claude Code to get a second opinion on my MRI
I put a MRI of my body part into Gemini 2.5 Pro (for fun) and it said it was my brain. These models don't necessarily have that data.
beacon294··on Grit: Rewriting Git in Rust with agents
Well that is already how it is done with numerous multi-decade open rewrites of closed games. They usually require the asset pack.

I don't know how this squares with law, but Oracle v Google gave a very valuable judgment to the public that an API is not copywritable. If we take the LLM out of it, that's all we are talking about in the pure case.

Of course, we can't take the LLM out, but it is the starting point.

beacon294··on Creatine raises brain energy levels and slows cognitive decline: study
Just buy 95% creatine monohydrate. This is the most common formulation, but others do exist.
beacon294··on Creatine raises brain energy levels and slows cognitive decline: study
Creatine is $10 at Walmart, I don't think they are paying for astroturfing. It's a chemical like salt.
beacon294··on The mysterious Hy3 LLM is topping OpenRouter Model Rankings by a large margin
ZDR is also on by default and deepseek is not ZDR.
beacon294··on DeepSeek makes the V4 Pro price discount permanent
I have a similar experience, however if you spent $5 at these rates you may have an issue with caching in your client.
beacon294··on Gemini 3.5 Flash
I agree with this sentiment but the reasoned anecdotes do not agree. I imagine the flagship models have modalities/usages that we hn-ers don't imagine easily.
beacon294··on Show HN: Forge – Guardrails take an 8B model from 53% to 99% on agentic tasks
Have you read the MAKER/MDAP paper? 1 million sequential tasks.
beacon294··on Vibe coding and agentic engineering are getting closer than I'd like
As you practice it will be apparent, you simply keep working on the application architecture yourself.
beacon294··on Shai-Hulud Themed Malware Found in the PyTorch Lightning AI Training Library
Do you have this on a shareable place / forge? I have a farm animal spelling game and want to extend my library and build more ideas.
beacon294··on The quiet disappearance of the free-range childhood
To be fair, you're cherry picking traffic fatality data. It's topical now but it's not common.
