batesy··on Show HN: iOS Screen Time from a REST API
Excellent. Thanks for this!
batesy··on Show HN: iOS Screen Time from a REST API
Yep. I love this, but does it require using the Cleaspace app / having a paid subscription?
batesy··on Show HN: iOS Screen Time from a REST API
So cool. How does it work?
batesy··on Ruby Video – On a mission to index all Ruby conferences
Wow this is fantastic. Stealing some ideas from this.
batesy··on How I write code using Cursor
It's the users job to provide the context the LLM needs in plain language instruction. Not just relying on the LLM to magically understand everything based on the codebase.
batesy··on How I write code using Cursor
You can create markdown files containing all the planning you did and Cursor will have all of that as context to give you better suggestions. This type of prompting is what gives amazing results - not just relying on out of the box magic, which I think a lot of people are expecting.
batesy··on ESPN AI recap of Alex Morgan’s final professional match fails to mention her
This is what I was thinking too... Still early days I guess lol

batesy··on Tell HN: Stripe killed my music locker service, so I'm open sourcing it
This scares the crap out of me. Is there any way to migrate existing subscriptions from Stripe to another provider if you get banned like this?
batesy··on Web browsing and Plugins are now rolling out in beta (May 12)
You have to turn them on in the Options menu.
batesy··on Ed Sheeran demonstrates how copyright is destroying musicians

batesy··on Lesser-known JavaScript APIs
That's pretty cool.
batesy··on SvelteKit 1.0
Well after reading the comments in this thread, I'm learning Svelte over the Holidays.
batesy··on Apple Music Sing
Serato just released Stems, which allows DJs to isolate drums, bassline, vocals in the tracks they are playing live. The algos are getting pretty damn good.

batesy··on How to communicate effectively as a developer
Seems like a pretty significant opportunity to level up for those willing?
batesy··on Show HN: I Created a personal radio platform that delivers news, podcasts, music
Really love the UI. Nice work!
batesy··on Web3 is the big idea customers didn’t ask for?
But like, who are you to say that it won't get there? If such a large group of very smart people want to continue to work on this tech that they all believe has massive potential, maybe you should consider the possibility that you are wrong?

It's not like Blockchain is the only tech people have been talking about for the last 10 years that hasn't been fully actualized yet. Doesn't mean it's not well on its way.

batesy··on Web3 is the big idea customers didn’t ask for?
This is a really great take. Agree wholeheartedly.
batesy··on Show HN: I built a website to find nearby cafes to work remotely from
Oh man. I love how clean this UI is. I'm stealing some ideas for sure.

Can you point me toward any inspiration you had in designing? Other sites, approaches, etc.? I know nothing about UI design and it always stops me from getting my ideas created.

batesy··on I self-learned to code at 30
The thing is, even if you just spend 1 hour every weekday and then whatever you happen to have available on weekends (even if it's nothing), those hours are going to add up.

The most important thing is that you code daily on something meaningful to you. Even finding an hour a day can be difficult, but should be doable for anyone.

batesy··on My robotic basketball hoop won't let you miss [video]
This guy is smarter than me.
batesy··on How I Turned an Idea into $7K by Teaching Online
Bingo. It also is a forcing function to spend the time learning - once I've paid money, I am more committed to seeing it through rather than flip-flopping around to different tutorials, etc.
batesy··on Show HN: I made a Chrome extension to stop mindless browsing
This looks great. I just signed up for Freedom to solve this problem because it works across devices. I'll test your extension as well to see if it does the job as effectively.
batesy··on Launch HN: Ophelia (YC W20) – At-home recovery for opioid addiction
I just wanted to chime in and say that this is incredibly inspiring and I hope it takes off.

batesy··on Eat This Much – Automatic Meal Planner
Wow. Great job! Will definitely be giving it a go.
batesy··on Eat This Much – Automatic Meal Planner
This is really nice. I love the UI, and am probably going use pieces as inspiration for something very unrelated I'm building.

Are you building this as a side gig? How many hours per week is going into it?

batesy··on Ask HN: Successful one-person online businesses?
Really interested in hearing more about your music blog. I'm working on an online DJ education platform (pretty niche). DM me if you're up for connecting.
batesy··on Clubhouse announces new collaboration tool, free project management platform
I installed ClickUp over the weekend to give it a whirl, but it seems like managing sub-projects is difficult. I have multiple projects on the go for each of my clients, and I couldn't figure out how to go more than one level deep.

Any tips? It otherwise looks awesome.
