barbazoo··on ADHD, autism or complex trauma? [pdf]
I see a lot of myself in this.
barbazoo··on ADHD, autism or complex trauma? [pdf]
What about before? When and why did we stop caring I wonder.
barbazoo··on Pop!_OS bans AI-generated code from much of its codebase
I'm assuming they still use AI to find vulnerabilities, just not fix them?
barbazoo··on Using Opus 5.5 to discover a new eyewitness record of the dodo
Could this be a feedback loop problem? I gave mine a script to render the object from all sides and it makes it more likely for it to avoid attacking of mistake.
barbazoo··on Ask HN: Do you procrastinate less when coding with AI?
The empty page problem is almost gone for me. Now I can chat casually about something and get eased into solving the actual problem.

Now I often feel burned out from constantly getting everything instantly.

barbazoo··on Updated Google Maps shows destruction of the city of Rafah
Are you afraid to use the word "genocide"? Just curious.
barbazoo··on California farmers are struggling to sell grapes as demand for wine drops
I think this is temporary and related to crop failures when a lot of BC berries froze. AFAIK they grow their own grapes otherwise. Who knows for how much longer and if the climate will allow growing grapes sustainably at all in those places.
barbazoo··on Kids turned low-traffic NPR Spotify comments into a secret group chat
Now we know where the "rogue" AI agents got the ideas from.
barbazoo··on The problem is not AI code, but not knowing about system architecture or intent
> The code was stamped by Claude driven by a prompt. The prompt was for a ticket generated with the Atlassian AI integration. Atlassian had digested docs made with AI. The docs came from strategy memos I'm 90% sure were written entirely by Claude

Was there never a developer in the loop? I hope my org won't give up control of their business to an AI like this soon, sounds like a nightmare to figure out what's going on.

barbazoo··on Meta Blocks President Lula's Facebook Page, Campaign Ads 2 Weeks from Election
Careless people, the book talks about it too.
barbazoo··on SNL Weekend Update: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on A.I.'S Threat to Humanity [video]
> The uploader has not made this video available in your country

Copyright is another threat to humanity.

barbazoo··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
Sorry no I didn't mean to judge, it's like you said, everyone has a different requirement. One should have control which is something the billionaires don't want to give away.
barbazoo··on The Economics of Open-Weight Inference
For chat I can see, less so for LLM use in automation for example, there it makes much less of a difference I can imagine.
barbazoo··on Spain orders blocks on Archive.today and its mirrors
This and the soccer schedule internet blocking, the government just completely taken over by IP lobbyists?
barbazoo··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
Funny, autoplay functionality is exactly why I don't let my kid watch those.
barbazoo··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
I'm on GrapheneOS and I will never go back to Google Android or iOS. The amount of control you get is just liberating. I hope Google doesn't crush them.
barbazoo··on Astra for Law
Their work will get cheaper so it will become more accessible for people, increasing demand over all would be my guess to some degree at least.
barbazoo··on Astra and Fable still hack on simple variants of alignment evals from 2025
How do I achieve this locally?
barbazoo··on Astra and Fable still hack on simple variants of alignment evals from 2025
Efficiently at scale or even as an individual?
barbazoo··on Great Lakes sturgeon may be 400 years old:Scientists rethinking how to save them
Years again I was gifted a sturgeon fishing trip on the Fraser and I still feel bad thinking about it. In hindsight knowing how much we stressed and probably harmed that animal. What a cruel way to entertain ourselves.
barbazoo··on Amazon pilots ad services in ChatGPT
They certainly just mentioned it favourably here, even guaranteeing results!!!
barbazoo··on Investing in mothers? The long-run impact of a universal child care
My kids are around so many other kids, interacting, playing, arguing, sometimes fighting (hands to yourself!), they are around so many caring adults that live nearby, we talk to them every time we see them. I know how lucky we are. I bet people that say dumping your kid at an institution have no idea how nice life could be in that regard.
barbazoo··on Better AI code comment detector
I was curious why someone would need to classify a comment in the first place.

> One thing in this comment caught my mind: the small parenthetical that says “the usual case”. If that were true, it would be important information! However, this comment is generated by the llm model Claude, which has no sense of what counts as the usual case in this domain.

That's from the post referenced early on. I think that's the fundamental misunderstanding of what these tools are supposed to be used for. And I'm just as guilty myself at work. The problem isn't that the LLM generated that text, the problem is that a human didn't read it properly and ask what that meant and fix it before pushing.

barbazoo··on Claude, change the "Add to Cart" button to blue
The game is fun because it's so obvious that any answer will just devolve into an even more unstable state when in reality I feel like it's pretty straight forward to correct it in the moment, if not permanently, to get what you actually need.
barbazoo··on Claude, change the "Add to Cart" button to blue
I was gonna respond to you but actually decided not to.
barbazoo··on What will our economic future look like?
I think the root cause is people not having enough human connection. If we had families, friends, neighborhoods, communities where people know each other and care about each other it wouldn't make a difference what new tool someone brings to group. It's just a tool.
barbazoo··on Lotus Notes and the dangers of starting from scratch
I don't have many memories of my father but one thing I very vaguely remember is the quirky way it would scramble each character when he entered his password in Lotus Notes.
barbazoo··on Aging brains blend memories together instead of just forgetting them
I feel for you. Even though it's entertaining to read, that must be really hard to go through for you.
barbazoo··on American Airlines mechanic Azriel “Al” Blackman has died
Right! Maybe the longer into the future the older the kid is. It's hard to predict past 1s sometimes what my toddler is going to do. The older one, I'd bet on the outcome within a couple seconds.
barbazoo··on Introducing Ad Blocker for Firefox on iOS
> Surely the creator is getting some value from YouTube and YT expects to be compensated for that?

I'd imagine Google would start charging for videos that don't make enough money or heavily deprioritize them from discovery. That seems like a problem they could solve if they wanted to.
