Do farmers triple or 5x the price of food during droughts?
The police are like a private army to make sure no one fucks with the psychopathic nutjobs that re running civilization into the ground.
I don't know for sure but it feels like "Citizens United" was a full on disaster.
Start a company, get a bunch of agents to hack a bunch of stuff, say you were "just training the models", let us know how you get on?
Oil companies are interesting because it seems like the first thing that happens if there is any kind of problem is put their prices up?
(I have read it before)
I thought this was interesting, from Al Jazeera to boot:
Political Reactions: While critics and unverified intelligence memos pointed to the deep relationship as a sign of state ties, current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly dismissed the notion, stating on social media that Epstein's close ties to Barak (a political opponent of Netanyahu) actually "proves the opposite" of Epstein working for the Israeli state.
Like my personal sentiment is, war is senseless, and both sides are wrong in some way or another. But yeah, I don't think children should be murdered period, so I'm not going to try and give a list of reasons why it's OK, because there isn't one.
Anyone committing war crimes should be punished for it, period.
My original question was simply, what should have been done differently "by the world leaders"?
Like it would've been a nice idea, until you realize that Hamas is heavily backed by Iran, Iran is helping Russia, Russia is invading Ukraine, and it starts to look like that level of intervention is a step towards a world war.
Then you notice world energy markets are going to be effected by a massive conflict etc.
If the UN went into Gaza, got attacked by Iran, then had to respond, next minute they're attacking a close Russian ally, and maybe even China might have to get involved in that.
What would've been good is if October 7 didn't happen, and that goes for both sides.
Seems pretty wild these things were hacking government websites etc but yeah no one picked that up until the victims reported it?
Bit strange no?
I'm a bit fatalistic about it all now. The cat is out of the bag, unless we see some never seen before leadership from the current US admin there is almost zero point in worrying about it. Not going to pretend what the future holds but it's looking unpredictable, as usual :)
Well are they going to stop developing the tech or not? If not, then you can see why people don't trust what they're saying. I mean if it's that dangerous, why not step down from your role as CEO to demonstrate how seriously you take the threat? Why not immediately call a pause on all training, today ?
The real way out of it is education. Educating people about algorithms, social engineering, the harms of misinformation etc?
I notice there is a lot of Europe bashing going on on HN but I don't think it's actually warranted.
Totally wrong, people who were eligible for the business manager visa are no longer elgibile with zero warning or grace period granted, so yeah, total BS. If you built a business here, that's been destroyed if you don't have enough money to quality for another business manager visa under the new (ridiculous) requirements.
What about the people who have worked for 10 years , paid all their tax, not broken the law, but don't have 30 years worth of money to live on, do you think they should be rewarded with the rejection of a PR? On what grounds is that fair?
I get the feeling you either have zero connection to Japan, or you do live here and are married to a Japanese, so you're happy to see the ladder get pulled up because "you're ok".
