baklavabook··on North Korea nuclear test: Hydrogen bomb 'missile-ready'
it's funny you say 'you cannot blame the Chinese for supporting NK in the past', yet you say 'US as a history of using them and invading foreign countries.' Judge both by the present. US is still the most powerful democratic country that supports innovation, freedom, etc. China is supporting a NK dicatorship which terrorizes its own people, closing off and becoming belligerent, electing a dicatatorship, and threatening other countries.

China has enemies around it with India, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and so on. And it hates Japan with a passion. If it can get rid of even one country without blood on its sword, it might.

That's not true; manufacturing has been moving out of China slowly, it just needs to speed up. And US can source from other SE Asia countries.

There's no other big consumer country like US to buy all the stuff from China.

US has already been punishing Russia via sanctions

North Korea is enabled by China; without China, North Korea government will never be able to get all the technologies/parts/fuels it need to survive. It would have collapsed.

We (US) and the world enable China by allowing manufacturing to be offshored to China, an authoritarian government which has horrific track record of censorship, human rights abuse, pollution, etc.

We need to stop, and punish China for supporting North Korea.

baklavabook··on Japan Wakes to a Text Message: Missile Approaching
I said this in the other thread (before someone maliciously took the thread down using the dupe command):

If we have to address this at the root, it's China, the pink elephant in the room. China, our biggest trading partner and also an authoritarian government (US is probably kicking itself allowing such a horrible government to be so powerful), is propping up this vassel state and prevent any progress made in the peninsula. If China wasn't propping them up, North Korean government would have already fell long time ago.

So what happens now? Do we just let China keep protecting its puppet until the puppet has shipped a nuclear bomb to a port in Los Angeles? I hope not. I hope the world takes action before then - I hope the world punishes China and North Korea

First of all, if there's a regime change towards democracy, there's no business with China. South Korea will liberate and take care of their emasculated, starved, brutalized relatives in North Korea. Not China, the one that's been supporting the brutalization of all of the people in North Korea.

You're giving China too much credit. China is the entire reason why North Korea exists. Everyone knows this.

As much as I hate Trump, none of this is his fault. If we have to address this at the root, it's China, the pink elephant in the room. China, our biggest trading partner and also an authoritarian government (US is probably kicking itself allowing such a horrible actor to be so powerful), is propping up this vassel state and prevent any progress made in the peninsula. If China wasn't propping them up, North Korean government would have already fell long time ago.
