bad_haircut72··on Nobel Peace Prize for 2026 to Navanethem Pillay
As Americas star continues to wane over the coming decades y'all are really going to regret this "might makes right" stance.
bad_haircut72··on Nobel Peace Prize for 2026 to Navanethem "NAVI" Pillay
Israel isnt an occupied nation
bad_haircut72··on Run Qwen 3.8 Flash Next (125B) on consumer hardware (RTX 4090) at 100T/s
Did the mathematicians who got scooped on Navier-stokes benefit from the improved product or did their lifes work get stolen?
bad_haircut72··on Anthropic wants your thoughts on AI
The users replied with "F off we hate you"

People think claude costs $200/month, it actually costs $200/month and all your labor to train their models, improve their product, and all your best ideas and work that they will feed back into their company. Its very expensive
bad_haircut72··on On social reality in China
In a cowboy society where everyone is armed, it pays to be polite.
bad_haircut72··on Returning from vacation? The government can search your phone without a warrant
Im asking you though.

Do you think this is a reasonable use of power?

On your deathbed will you look back and say "I wish I had gotten more treadmill time in"?
bad_haircut72··on Anthropic's IPO prospectus shows AI vision, surging costs
This is more like, 90% of the money from selling the bread goes to the guy slicing it, while the ones who bought, own and operate the ovens get the other 10%
bad_haircut72··on Anthropic's IPO prospectus shows AI vision, surging costs
Compared to the Google/Facebook and other websites who run over these networks the Telcos barely capture any of the value in that exchange for themselves, whilst stumping for huge amounts of the capex
bad_haircut72··on Drawgent: Coding agent on a live Excalidraw canvas
Posted this somewhere else aswell but I've had good success with https://whiteboard-mcp.com - it seems to work better than other free alternatives for things like architecture diagram creation
bad_haircut72··on I'm the mom in that viral Giants clip. Let me tell you about my husband
Another side to the story is that I wonder how many of the reddit/tiktok posts pouring gasoline on the discourse were LLMs.
bad_haircut72··on Show HN: Whiteboard (YC W26) – An open-source IDE for thoughtful software design
I use https://whiteboard-mcp.com in a similar way to this - it gives me a drawing canvas claude can access and read
bad_haircut72··on Dystopian Surveillance Is Becoming a Reality
Every single time any article about how terrible things are / how its getting worse, someone always pipes in about how "this has always been a problem" - which is a completely useless observation that in practice only has the effect of normalizing the terribleness.
bad_haircut72··on Houthis 'take control' of key island in global shipping route
Theres videos of American MRAP armored vehicles that they've captured starting to show up on Telegram/X etc now
bad_haircut72··on Houthis 'take control' of key island in global shipping route
Bridge building hasnt worked. Hillary's biggest campaign failure was drawing back from her deplorables comment, she should have leaned into it - thats what Trump did, go harder into division, and he's president now. Instead of being milquetoast corporate stooge full of fake politics talk, she might have seemed to actually stand for something. You're bringing 1990s politics into the 2020s and its proven multiple times it doesnt work any more. A small group of fanatics is actually more powerful than a large cohort of half-committed these days.
bad_haircut72··on Houthis 'take control' of key island in global shipping route
The entire world turning against American hedgemony is going to have "productive" repurcussions.
bad_haircut72··on Growing proof that autonomous cars save lives
The people OP is talking about, the 0.05% absolute worst drovers, are not merely complacent, they're doing things like getting hammered and going street racing (shamefully I can say, I was 19 once...) or speeding away from crimes etc

edit: someone else replied with data contrary to this, maybe they are right but Im leaving this here to represent the counterargument

bad_haircut72··on Is mathematics about to enter the conservatory?
when the show finishes they lose their gig and go back to tending bar or whatever until they get their next one.
bad_haircut72··on AnkiDroid: Google Play no longer allowing Open Collective donation link
On Youtube just now I got hit with an ad whose first 5 unskippable seconds were an AI person saying "Did you know the cure for dimentia is in the Bible!?!?" - considering who that ad is targetting, Google can F off with any stance about protecting people from scams.
bad_haircut72··on El Niño Will Be Unlike Any in the Past Eight Decades
Im guessing Perth or Sydney. A big cyclone hitting either would be... non ideal.
bad_haircut72··on What We Tell AI
I take some comfort from the one that says "as a Christian, I have been talking to AI about my problems instead of finding time for God" - goes to show we've been very nutty for a long time, and actually - compared to taking advice from magic sky man, talking to an AI is downright rational.
bad_haircut72··on Claude Session URL appended to commit messages and PR descriptions by default
People are sick of Anthropic, and everyone, turning every little thing into a chance to manipulate reality in their favour.
bad_haircut72··on Decompiling a Nintendo 64 game in 84 days
When you read the code thats been generated and submit it as a PR it becomes deterministic
bad_haircut72··on Australia Bans Generative A.I. From Official Music Charts
This is as much protectionism by the music industry as it is a humanitarian ideal. They banned AI works from the top40 cause without it in the next few years, all generic pop music will be AI generated, marketed at teenagers by AI persona influencers on youtube/tiktok. I genuinely see a future where people pay $100 to go to a "concert" to communally watch an anime girl "sing and dance" on a giant screen, as a mainstream activity.
bad_haircut72··on U.S. State Department pauses immigrant visa applications
Yes, the only way to preserve USAs culture of freedom of the individual is to dissuade/force women from making choices that dont benefit the group. Else we will fall to communism!!
bad_haircut72··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Copyright is a very quick one to change though. Imagine if suddenly you would no longer be getting doorknocks from the police for downloading Movies/Music/Games/Software from American companies. Europe just gets GTA6, for free, one hour after it comes out (or a day if it takes that long to crack it). Huge amounts of American wealth rely on the rest of the world playing by their rules.
bad_haircut72··on US Military newspaper editor voices censorship fears after being fired
Its an avenue for people inside the organization to spread messages to other people inside the organization.

8note since I cant reply to you directly as the thread is too long - ok, maybe I should have used "release the Epstein files" or "bring down the national debt"
