babygoat··on Ask HN: How many Amazon recruitor email do you get per month?
I started getting emails from Amazon recruiters about every 3 days for the past few months, and I have no idea what caused me to pop up on their radar.
babygoat··on Colorado to become first state to accept cryptocurrency for tax payments
Is it really a “win” if no one else is playing?
babygoat··on Ask HN: Is there a place on HN for interesting yet flame-war inducing topics?
What makes it groupthink rather than simply being in agreement about something?
babygoat··on Ask HN: Is Spotify Evil?
It’s ironic that people are trying to censor you for this.
babygoat··on Ask HN: Why does cryptocurrency subjects on HN lack curious conversations?
Paper money is not actually made of paper.
babygoat··on Video game play is positively correlated with well-being
That's probably why they used the word correlated, and suggested how a causal relationship could be established.
babygoat··on Ask HN: Why salaries tend be lower for tech workers in UK compared to US
They do.
babygoat··on Ask HN: What more can I do against Apple (and big tech)?
How would removing Windows accomplish this? Throwing your own stuff away after paying for it doesn’t make sense, they already have your money.
babygoat··on How old is too old to fix a messed up life?
> "Nice guy? I don't give a shit. Good father? Fuck you! Go home and play with your kids. If you want to work here, close."

Ugh, no. This is terrible advice.

babygoat··on Ask HN: Why don't recruiters do our salary negotiations for us
What else would people negotiate for?
babygoat··on Ask HN: Book under 100 pages that changed your life the most?
Who did it?
babygoat··on How inevitable is the concept of numbers?
Say you have 5 bags with 5 apples in each. How many apples do you have? 5 x 5 = 25.

If you have 5 empty bags, 5 x 0 = 0.

babygoat··on Ask HN: What do you think of Bitcoin?
Why is it good that no more can be printed though? The value of all total goods in existence is not fixed, so why a currency where you don’t know how much you’ll able to buy with it in the future?
babygoat··on Ask HN: What do you think of Bitcoin?
I don’t see any use cases for it except tax avoidance or illicit transactions, neither of which I have any need for. Why use it for anything else when I have no way to know that it will be worth anything tomorrow? I realize the same could be said for paper money but I have less confidence in Bitcoin.
babygoat··on Ask HN: What do you think of Bitcoin?
What is Bitcoin backed by? What commodity could any currency be backed by that isn’t subject to the same volatility?
babygoat··on Ask HN: What options, if any, do you have when Google bans you?
How exactly would a gender pronoun help you understand?
babygoat··on A joyless trudge? No, thanks
Until never.
babygoat··on Netflix Made Record Profits in 2020, Paid a Tax Rate of Less Than 1 Percent
That makes no sense. How can you do away with progressive taxation without increasing the tax burden on the lower and middle classes?
babygoat··on A joyless trudge? No, thanks
Normalization implies that there’s something abnormal about going outside for some light exercise, fresh air, and a change of scenery. I enjoy those things but it’s not hard to abstain from other normal activities that I don’t.
babygoat··on A joyless trudge? No, thanks
I’ve never heard of anyone being forced to take a leisure walk.
babygoat··on A joyless trudge? No, thanks
I can’t stand the thought of lifting weights. So I just don’t do it. It’s never crossed my mind to write a 5000 word essay about it.
babygoat··on A joyless trudge? No, thanks
It’s entirely optional, no? Surely you’re no sick to death of other people having them?
babygoat··on Ask HN: Do you agree with Covid passports?
What’s a real human?
babygoat··on Ask HN: What is the most complex concept you understand?
Wow that’s a mindfuck. I understand it in an optical sense but not intuitively. Do you have a good explanation for this?
babygoat··on Ask HN: Should I give up on FAANG as a low IQ late 30s engineer?
Yeah I can see why you have a hard time hiding your “political views”, as you call them.
babygoat··on Ask HN: Should I give up on FAANG as a low IQ late 30s engineer?
> The whole diversity thing is extremely one-sided and biased and very much undiverse in nature.

Can you elaborate?

babygoat··on Ask HN: Should I give up on FAANG as a low IQ late 30s engineer?
That’s not a FAANG company, but ok. You can write off your contempt for diversity, inclusion, etc. as a political view but it says more about you as a person. You’re likely difficult to work with and won’t treat your coworkers with respect. Why would anyone put up with that?
babygoat··on Ask HN: Should I give up on FAANG as a low IQ late 30s engineer?
Counterpoint: FAANG companies don’t ask about your political views in job interviews. If you’re volunteering them, you’re doing it wrong.
babygoat··on What is life? Its vast diversity defies easy definition
The human mind invented the concept of life. There’s no objective definition other than what people decide that it means, because no other form of intelligence tries to make the distinction.
babygoat··on If Materialism Is True, the United States Is Probably Conscious (2015)
You can do better than that.
