b2600··on Browsers, not apps, are the future of mobile
It used to be awful. Basically you would get the desktop site without resizing, small text, have to zoom etc. It's not like that now. Haven't seen an app that's any good and you don't need one. Site works well in mobile now.

The fact that you are being down voted illustrates who posts on HN. "Ads allow me to bring you awesome content". "Without ads, the web as it is today wouldn't exist". "Content providers!" This is true in a minority of cases. The problem is everyone who has a garbage app or a garbage site thinks this is the case for them. Most of the time their content is worthless. These are the most vocal. They spend more time on SEO BS than content or making an app that isn't horrific. If you have a good app or a good site, people will pay via ads or subs. The web would be better if everyone used adblock or ublock and these people found a legitimate way to earn a living.
b2600··on Stealth Boat the U.S. Government Won't Buy or Let Be Sold Abroad
Export regulations have been relaxed since 1996 in the U.S. but export is still regulated and may require review and license from Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security.

No, it's not accurate. I am not dismissive of the issue or the facts. Merely dismissive of your erroneous statements. The GPP mentions 4-5 hours. GP's correction is accurate. Your criticism of GP is pedantic considering he's in the ballpark (no pun) and GPP is wildly off.

Built on the foundations of the enlightenment? Without the historical baggage of Europe? Monarchies, feudalism, etc.

It's simply tradition. I've been to a couple of sports events in the U.S. and it doesn't seem overtly nationalistic or jingoistic.

That article and the poll it was based on are hardly reliable. The author had previously written this as speculation (he references this in the article) and that poll is viewed with skepticism by the linked article. Rasmussen has a built in sample bias and that's being generous. NFL has contradicted these assertions [1].

College games are slightly longer however both NFL and FBS games are between 3 and 3.5 hours. ~3:07 for NFL [1]. ~3:20 for FBS [2]. "...college games average longer than your "universal" time you mentioned." is not an accurate statement.

b2600··on Google vs. Apple – The Smartphone Race Is Over, and a New One Begins…
If it's just a hardware competition then Apple doesn't "crush" anyone in this regard. Apple's (formidable) strength is the intergration of their software with the hardware. Android can't compete with that aspect (yet).
b2600··on Snapchat Seeks to Raise as Much as $4B in IPO
Snapchat buy Twitter!? They might need more than 4b$
b2600··on Snapchat Seeks to Raise as Much as $4B in IPO
>(to me)

That is a fairly small focus group.

b2600··on Noisy Coworkers And Other Sounds Are A Distraction In Workplace
I understand people can be and are distractions but from my background I believe you should be able to perform your tasks regardless. While a legitimate issue, this sounds like searching for excuses. You perform in the environment you are in. Everyone else is suffering the same distractions.
b2600··on Instapainting – From $4k in debt to $32k/mo in passive revenue with no employees
That's not how business works. Unless you want transitory success.
b2600··on Snapchat Seeks to Raise as Much as $4B in IPO
No, young people will not stand in line to buy or wear those glasses. Snap chat is very popular. However, the current user base will outgrow it and those younger will have something else. Better get that 4B while they can. It doesn't have the roots or staying power of a Facebook or Twitter (I know Twitter isn't making money).
b2600··on Wikipedia and Internet Archive partner to fix 1M broken links on Wikipedia
Wikipedia and The Internet Archive are examples to me of what makes the internet awe inspiring. (I can throw in Google search too, not Google Inc). Data (sometimes imperfect) is one query away on any internet connected device. Truly amazing in a way.
b2600··on Gdrive – A command line utility for interacting with Google Drive
I waited for the Drive client. It never came. Stayed with Dropbox
b2600··on Wikipedia is fixing one of the Internet’s biggest flaws
Depressing seemed a bit strong at first but I don't think I could argue against it
