axiosgunnar··on Alleged analysis of the current situation in Russia by an active FSB analyst
Big if true. Is there a link to the original?
axiosgunnar··on Finding an authorization bypass on my own website
…in a JavaScript ORM, not the actual database.

Still interesting.

axiosgunnar··on Russians are trying to flee – data from Google Trends

If one could invest in slogans that will soon be in every history book, I would go all in on this one :-)

axiosgunnar··on China Is Not Russia. Taiwan Is Not Ukraine
And judging by the embarrassments of the last 10 days, it probably was indeed madness to invade.

axiosgunnar··on China government takedown request for GitHub repos
Can you elaborate?
axiosgunnar··on Facebook Banned in Russia
1. Facebook‘s „fact“ checkers defaming unconvenient truths as „fake news“

2. Facebook banning individual accounts for violation of selectively interpreted „community guidelines“

3. Facebook manually tweaking the recommendation algorithm to promote some topics and not others

…

Still on a completely different level than Russian state-based propaganda, of course, but Facebook is not „just a neutral platform“

axiosgunnar··on Separatists from Tiraspol Ask for the Recognition of Transnistria’s Independence
Since it‘s WW3, would now be a time to go in and free Transnistria from the separatists?
axiosgunnar··on World War III has already started – Gary Kasparov
They should say it through public channels then.
axiosgunnar··on Thousands in France lose internet in suspected Russian cyberattack
Since NATO rightfully considers cyber warfare to be, well, warfare, these pointless provocations by the Russian regime are hurdling the world towards a nuclear armageddon.
axiosgunnar··on World's only An-225 destroyed by Russian airstrikes
> I despise the Ukrainian government

Ridiculous, victim-blaming statement

axiosgunnar··on Statement from Roman Abramovich
Ok, you make a good point.
axiosgunnar··on Statement from Roman Abramovich
He might be referring to the """Ukraine nazi government war on the independent people's republics in the Donbas region"""
axiosgunnar··on Statement from Roman Abramovich
> The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine.

Whoever formulated this is a PR genius.

The West will read it as "the [Russian aggression] war in Ukraine".

Putin can be made believe it meant "the [Ukrainian nazi government] war in [the Donbas region of] Ukraine".

axiosgunnar··on What happened to Russias Air Force? U.S. officials, experts stumped
You might be right, but here are some counterarguments:

> 1. Pilots that have family back home probably won't be eager to take the offer

Russia has not been known to do North-Korea-style family executions (so far)

> 2. Russia has shown no qualms about targeted assassinations in foreign lands.

Russia might be too weak after all this is over to still have these capabilities.

Time will tell!

axiosgunnar··on What happened to Russias Air Force? U.S. officials, experts stumped
Is this something we, hackers/information technology specialists, could try to achieve?
axiosgunnar··on Russia bans coupon payments to foreigners holding ruble bonds
What if I’m not American, why bring them up? The government of Rwanda also killed civilians. Does that excuse the Russians?
axiosgunnar··on Russia bans coupon payments to foreigners holding ruble bonds
> a supposedly liberal democracy

Note that while I oppose the seizing of people‘s bank accounts by Trudeau with every fibre of my body, this whataboutism is easily defused:

Using these kind of soft power moves (basically doing things in the non-meat space) is precisely why Canada is still a liberal democracy.

Even if you became the state‘s enemy #1, the worst that happens is… your bank account is temporarily disabled, overtly (not a clandestine operation, so you can challenge it legally, protest it, etc).

This is completely different from Russia, where you just… disappear (ie you get killed).

axiosgunnar··on Russia bans coupon payments to foreigners holding ruble bonds
Thanks
axiosgunnar··on Russia bans coupon payments to foreigners holding ruble bonds
> The West expects to get away with it, why not Russia?

One of these two so casually mentioned in the same sentence is literally bombing civilians.

If bombing civilians will not stop you from defending a murderous regime with whataboutisms, what will?

I don't understand the race baiting outrage trying to be manufactured here?

Imagine you are Asian, let‘s say Han Chinese. Nobody alive in Shanghai today has ever had to witness other Chinese people being fire bombed in their cities by a foreign aggressor.

Of course it does happen every day in other parts of the world, mostly in the middle east, but seeing people like you, peope that could be your neighbours, or even literally you, die in a cluster bomb attack is… completely new and shocking.

Of course people are gonna point that out, and surely Chinese media would be underlining „it‘s Chinese people like you and me dying!“.

There is no implication that 3rd world citizen‘s are „lesser“ people or that they deserve war.

Quite the opposite: opposition to war in the Middle East has been a very common sentiment especially in Europe, so you can't even complain that people are now „tasting their own medicine“ etc.

Especially since Europe accepted millions of refugees with mostly very open hands.

So basically what all the people in the videos in that Twitter thread are saying is „the situation in Europe has deteriorated to a state comparable with the worst places to be on earth right now.“

Before anybody posts predictable comments about this being US propaganda etc. - remember you still owe US intel an apology for bursting out in laughter as they warned Putin was about to invade.

US intel is doing a pristine job so far in this conflict.

axiosgunnar··on Namecheap: Russia Service Termination
It literally is OK if you are not shedding blood, just doing undercover color revolutions etc. It is human nature do want to increase your power, removing this outlet is not realistic. Just don't use physical violence, instead use subversion, etc.

Then it basically becomes one big game of chess or soccer, just between intelligence agencies. The trophy is power and influence. I am fine with this as long as no humans are physically harmed.

Therefore the 2014 coup was OK, but the 2022 war is not.

axiosgunnar··on Thermobaric Weapon
Genuinely curious, I feel sorry for everyone involved in military conflict, but: how is dying from this worse than dying from a normal explosion? Does it hurt more? Or does it injure more?
