awareBrah··on Claude Code May–August 2026 weekly limits promotion
Hahahaha I wasn’t sure if I was getting dumb or something. Mine finishes the tasks and then outputs paragraphs of that nonsense. But the code is great.
awareBrah··on X now treats the term cisgender as a slur
As much as I like Elon and think the term cisgender is stupid, this is such a bad look for him if X is meant to truly be the free speech platform. This is just woke but inverted.
awareBrah··on Ask HN: Any real US alternatives to Starbucks for a place to work/study?
Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one outside of Denver airport.

Either way it sounds like a terrible option.

I prefer to find hipster/third-wave coffee places myself.

They tend to put a lot more effort into the coffee and ambiance.

awareBrah··on Ask HN: Is it possible to get an 18-year-old to spend less time on the computer?
If they live in a pretty typical North American suburb where a car is required to do anything it is a pretty inevitable outcome for most kids. When you literally can’t do anything without getting your parents to drive you somewhere, you turn to the computer. At this point the habit is hard to break.
awareBrah··on Ask HN: Which Password Manager are you using?
I used to use 1password but to get newest version I need to pay again.

Exported and switched over to Lastpass which just works. I love it.

awareBrah··on Ask HN: How to manage burnout / jadedness and job hunt?
I think you just need to get a new job. Start applying today.
awareBrah··on Ask HN: What can programmers do to help with the coronavirus?
Create fun things for people to do online from home so that they stay home and reduce spread
awareBrah··on Ask HN: How do I understand the results of my job search?
Maybe you should get someone to review your resume.
awareBrah··on AMD Ryzen 9 3950X Review
About the length your hair grows in one second
awareBrah··on Ask HN: Why do we still use paper receipts?
Be careful if you are a person who cares about preserving testosterone. Receipt thermal ink contains BPA which is highly absorbable through contact with skin.
awareBrah··on Ask HN: What are some purchases that increased the quality of your life?
Aeropress and a hario hand grinder (for coffee) my morning ritual makes me happy
awareBrah··on America has two economies, and they’re diverging fast
Why would that be hard to understand. It makes total sense.

People making >200k probably use almost no government resources, and are sick of getting taxed up the arse left and right at any opportunity.

I’d be happy to pay more tax if I had any faith the money would be used wisely, but I don’t. Hence, my goal when voting is tax minimization.

awareBrah··on Smartphone Sales Are in Freefall, and That’s Okay
There’s hoards of people out there waiting for a new phone with new specs and camera but without anti-features like removal of headphone jack and faceid
awareBrah··on Apple Reports Declining Profits and Slowing Growth Again
Of course slowing growth, they got rid of the headphone jack. What did they expect?
awareBrah··on Ask HN: Lifehacks to prepare for a FAANG Interviews?
If you want it bad enough you’ll make time for it and might even come to enjoy the process. I certainly did.

I made time on commute to and from office (50 mins each way) even despite motion sickness.

And sacrificed my evenings sometimes as well as weekends.

But all paid off. Good luck!

awareBrah··on Unheard History of Bodybuilding Forums
I actually posted in one of his threads. The sad part is I and I’m sure 99% of miscers were convinced it was a troll post.

The stuff he wrote was so unbelievable that it seems to be designed to trigger some members. I specifically remember a post where he bragged about having a bmw and still had no luck with girls and he saw <some other race> in a Honda with a pretty girl and he couldn’t believe it.

It was so outlandish it was impossible to take seriously.

awareBrah··on Unheard History of Bodybuilding Forums
Was funny to see this come up on HN. I still love the Misc to this day. Changed my life
awareBrah··on Ask HN: Which BigCorps Hire Remote Software Engineers?
I don’t think any of them really actively hire remote engineers unless you have a very niche skill set they need.

But I’ve heard of instances where someone works at BigCo for a very long time, makes themselves very valuable and then move somewhere with no office presence for family reasons but continue to work.

awareBrah··on Letter from Tim Cook to Apple Investors
I was very happy to hear of the disappointing sales. I hope they continue to disappoint until they have to make it happen.
awareBrah··on Letter from Tim Cook to Apple Investors
I will use my iPhone 6 (not S) until they release a phone with a headphone jack

I’m hoping for a refreshed SE. I like the button. I like the headphone jack. I don’t like FaceId.

awareBrah··on Ask HN: I think I am being black listed
What were you fired for? Could be the reason
awareBrah··on Ask HN: How do you like to be interviewed as a developer?
A few leetcode style whiteboarding interviews combined with some system design ones combined with meeting the team and having a casual conversation after the first part of thorough technical stuff.
awareBrah··on Ask HN: What do people pay for on a regular basis
Happy to pay for my Spotify every month. Prob the thing I feel most comfortable paying for.

Online iCloud storage. Being on the Mac ecosystem just makes it easy

Gym membership: gotta stay healthy

awareBrah··on Ask HN: Can engineers from Google or Facebook solve whiteboard questions easily?
i dont like the way it was phrased. its better in the original format of just, given a list of ints, return a list where each elem is product of all except that elem.

I cant really judge, I would be hapy to have received this on an interview cause I've seen a variation of the problem on leetcode.

I just went through the interview loops at several FANGS, firs time doing this and got several offers, including G. I used to be super scared of even applying for fear of rejection because I thought I wasn't smart enough. I am self taught with lib arts degree from an average school, low gpa.

but I actually enjoyed learning these problems and figuring out solutions, and as time went on it got easier and easier. I enjoyed the interview process and had a good experience everywhere except FB.

my suggestion to those who are striving for FANG is just to keep practicing the questions and try to have fun with it, and go into the interviews with a positive, collaborative attitude.

awareBrah··on Ask HN: Can engineers from Google or Facebook solve whiteboard questions easily?
product of all elements except self. usually a follow up to this question is to dissalow the divide operator
awareBrah··on Ask HN: Would you still do software engineering/dev if you could do it all over?
yeah, but i would have aimed for the FANG level companies from the get go rather than settle for various startup companies
awareBrah··on How to build a house alone [video]
Is anyone able to answer this. He seems to have put up two vertical wooden planks in what appears to be the basement and it seems to be supporting the entire weight of the house except for the sides. Is this a normal way to do things? I couldn’t believe the physics of this
awareBrah··on Microplastics found in 93% of bottled water tested in global study
what do you suggest for people who cannot tolerate the taste of some tap water. The one in my area taste very metallic and makes tea/coffee brewed with it have an unpleasant flavor. I bought a brita-like water filter with great reviews on amazon, but despite that, some of the metallic flavor remains. My old home had a reverse osmosis system which tasted amazing, but I'm not going to invest in a super expensive water system for the apartment I am renting. I just want good tasting water
awareBrah··on Coinbase cancelled my order and doesn't refund
If you are in Oceania it might be your bank that is responsible. Supposedly the big4 banks are not allowing transfers into exchanges. Good luck
awareBrah··on The One Product You Should Buy Online: Eyeglasses
Went to the opthamologist this year cause I could tell my vision was worsening.

After all was said and done they ushered me into their eyeglasses store which was physically connected to their office. A nice friendly man told me the frames start at 299 and go up from there.

I said thanks man with this eye exam I can barely open my eyes so I’ll come back.

Got two pairs of awesome glasses from Zenni for $55 total.

I’ve read this is online movement is destroying the career of optometrists. Also the eyeglasses scam also seems to be connected to Luxottica which is a well known sunglasses scam also. I will continue to buy from Zenni
