Amazon is much bigger than GOOG, MSFT and APPL now. They have more employees and bigger revenue than the other FAANG companies. In the US only Walmart has more employees and bigger revenue.
There is too much extrapolation in this thread from the results of 1 company in 1 quarter.

Revenue $5,078 (in millions)
Cost of Revenue $1,798 35.40%
Sales and Admin $1,760 34.67%
R&D $1,247 24.55%
Interest $52 1.02%
Unusual Items $441 8.69%
Their biggest expense 34.40% is "Cost of Revenue" followed by "Sales and Admin". For a company like twitter "Cost of Revenue" includes operations and Customer Care.
I don't think that they can cut 75% at once, just the severance payment will be huge and they may not have the money for that.
With R&D being only 24% it is possible to make large cuts in "Cost of Revenue" and "Sales and Admin" and keep more of the engineering team.
They made a device which was worse than all of the existing devices. The initial version didn't have TCP /IP support, only HTTP. The app store was full of scams, etc.
It may work for a simple website, but for any more complicated project with web clients, mobile clients third party integrations, migrating from Heroku to cloud provider to on prem means refactoring big parts of the project.
What is even bigger problem a migration like this is hard to do incrementally.
- Google promised to invest $1B in Africa
- Google will build subsea cable will cut across South Africa, Namibia, Nigeria and St Helena, connecting Africa and Europe.
- Investments in Startups and small businesses

"I show that a passive roll-off of $2.2 trillion over three years is equivalent to an increase of 29 basis points in the current federal funds rate at normal times. However, during a crisis period with risk aversion being doubled, it is equivalent to a 74 basis point increase."
