autobodie··on The landlord gutting America’s hospitals
Who cares how they would be written? They would never get passed. It's called capitalism for a reason - capital calls the shots. Why does nobody understand this?
autobodie··on How Tesla is proving doubters right on why its robotaxi service cannot scale
In America or elsewhere? In America, they are dirty and unsafe because they are drastically underfunded, because of people like Elon Musk. This is the history of public transportation in America. America also has a despicable homelessness problem because of all the libertarian nonsense.
autobodie··on Congress moves to reject bulk of White House's proposed NASA cuts
That would be a great way to spend the money saved by taking away millions of peoples' healthcare.
autobodie··on Five companies now control over 90% of the restaurant food delivery market
it's just the story of companies across industries.
autobodie··on Bypassing Google's big anti-adblock update
Read "merely boycotts"
autobodie··on Bypassing Google's big anti-adblock update
The point is flying over your head. Redirecting some ad dollars is an extremely low bar; not comparable to diverting a company's profit center.
autobodie··on Bypassing Google's big anti-adblock update
>the only correct course of action is to ditch Chrome

History shows mere boycotts to always be abysmal failures one after another. The only few examples of ostensible outcomes were critically meaningless and necessitate zero-friction alternatives, like when bud light was encouraged to spend a bit of its marketing budget differently — wow, really showed them!!

There's no detour for politics.

autobodie··on Grok 4 Heavy Protects it's System prompt
Test an LLM? Even if it was correct about something one moment, it coud be incorrect about it the next moment.
autobodie··on '123456' password exposed chats for 64M McDonald's job applicants
Your favorite part? Are you sick? I can't imagine having a "favorite part" of any of this.
autobodie··on U.S. abandons hunt for signal of cosmic inflation
"Nationalism is a bourgeois trick.” —Vladimir Lenin
autobodie··on Overtourism in Japan, and how it hurts small businesses
>without stating a reason

That part is key. If they do state a reason, it could become a civil rights issue. The sign alone might not be enough to make a case, but it's a very good start.

autobodie··on Dyson, techno-centric design and social consumption
My Oreck is more than I have ever needed and I think it was around $100.
autobodie··on Hidden interface controls that affect usability
Intellij on Windows also buries the top menus into a hamburger icon and leaves the entire area they occupied empty! Thankfully there is an option to reverse it deep in the settings, but having it be the default is absolutely baffling.
autobodie··on A 37-year-old wanting to learn computer science
Yes, I graduated with a CS degree at 37yo in 2021 and thankfully got in before the layoffs. My first advice would be dye your hair if it's turning gray and never tell anybody your age unless uou have to. Of course, your managers will know it anyway.
autobodie··on OBBB signed: Reinstates immediate expensing for U.S.-based R&D
I would assume they think the cause of the layoffs was more related to the non-zero interest rate.
autobodie··on OBBB signed: Reinstates immediate expensing for U.S.-based R&D
>raising the minimum wage for H1Bs and indexing it to inflation

Huh? Not even regular minimum wage is indexed to inflation. What are you talking about?

autobodie··on Nvidia won, we all lost

autobodie··on The new skill in AI is not prompting, it's context engineering
Tha problem is that "right" is defined circularly
autobodie··on The $25k car is going extinct?

the second source shows sales have been increasing.
autobodie··on Philadelphia Transit System Votes to Cut Service by 45%, Hike Fares
Not true. In the early 20th century, the American automobile industry fought aggressively to divert public funding away from public transit and towards building roads, precisely because it increased their profit margins.
autobodie··on LLM code generation may lead to an erosion of trust
In my experience, LLMs are extremely inclined to modify code just to pass tests instead of meeting requirements.
autobodie··on AGI is Mathematically Impossible 2: When Entropy Returns
Humans do a lot of things that computers don't, such as be born, age (verb), die, get hungry, fall in love, reproduce, and more. Computers can only metaphorically do these things, human learning is correlated with all of them, and we don't confidently know how. Have some humility.
autobodie··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
Such bombs would necessarily need to fall in American cities, so the scenario you describe is not possible.
autobodie··on US Army Appoints Palantir, Meta, OpenAI Execs as Lt. Colonels
I don't care. Capitalism is the problem and pretending its something more obscure is easier but useless.
autobodie··on US Army Appoints Palantir, Meta, OpenAI Execs as Lt. Colonels
I know. That's my point, and it's a point that calling it "Fascism" misses.
autobodie··on US Army Appoints Palantir, Meta, OpenAI Execs as Lt. Colonels
Yes, that's right. Thank you.
autobodie··on US Army Appoints Palantir, Meta, OpenAI Execs as Lt. Colonels
No, there are not. That is very naive. None of them are independent from America's role as international peacekeeper/peacereeper and global financier.
autobodie··on US Army Appoints Palantir, Meta, OpenAI Execs as Lt. Colonels
No, it's called capitalism — capital has the last word. As we have seen clearly, even Trump is overwhelmingly limited by the constraints of capital.
