asyncscrum··on Ask HN: Show your failed projects and share a lesson you learned
In my quest to review every Todo app I had come across donelist and I loved your take. Actually, all your stuff looks pretty cool for failures! https://www.taskfiler.com/to-do-app-overview/donelist/r/recy...
asyncscrum··on Ask HN: What is your current side-project?
Having fun with https://www.taskfiler.com/ - an absurdly large list of to-do app reviews.
asyncscrum··on Space Jam 2
I do appreciate how you can just add the million dollar website to your cart.
asyncscrum··on Ask HN: What no-code tools are you using?
Sorry! Dang vowels. https://www.softr.io/
asyncscrum··on Ask HN: What no-code tools are you using?
Tried something with Adalo. There was no optimizing or thumbnail creation of user uploaded images, so a instagram style feed would be hundreds of MB. The level of abstraction was great for a non developer, but common things like many-to-many tagging were a nightmare of janky workarounds. Their user growth is awesome but it's not ready for production imo.

Right now I'm working on https://taskfiler.com which is a list of to-do list apps. It's pocket > integromat > airtable > softer.io. still have more automation to build in, but it's fun to use a parked domain for something.

asyncscrum··on Ask HN: How to get a Logo/ Corporate Designs in 2021?
I just used https://www.logology.co/ the other day for a side project. Holy smokes, I completed a really unique survey about my site, think 'if your company we're a movie which of these would it be.'

After this survey I got maybe 50 logo variants that were all good. Various legit 2-color combos provided. Packages ranged from $39 for a PNG logo to like $79+ for vectors and complete brand guidelines. I'm rarely impressed nowadays but the entire process including onboarding email flow was tight.

asyncscrum··on Show HN: I made an alternative platform for professional profiles
Social media obsessed people who are great at clicking buttons and getting followers but add no value to the network. They only fill up a feed with noise.
asyncscrum··on MF DOOM Has Died
So much this. Man's the GOAT. And learning about his death months after is so DOOM. Condolences to the family. I like to think he was a legend at home like he was in the booth.
asyncscrum··on Why Jira Sucks
As a PM, all I really want out of the tools that I use is to be inspired by them. If I have to use it daily, it better have ideas for me to borrow. Jira does not inspire. It's what software looks like when it has no opinion. I hate it.
asyncscrum··on Ask HN: How do you keep track of all your work?
Microsoft todo to app. Strictly such that flagged emails automatically show up in the app. I feel like Mac users have more interesting task management options.

Toggl. Time tracker tool. I don't need to track my time for what I do, but knowing what you've been spending time on recently is a good indicator of what's important.

I've used a few zoom tools that transcribed meetings. Even some that identify key moments and add time stamped notes such that you can surface to-dos in context.

asyncscrum··on Review: A Counterfeit, $100 iPhone X
Probably 9 years ago I bought a iPhone knockoff called the Sciphone. It made a barking sound when you received a text and there was no way to disable or change that. Horrible thing.
asyncscrum··on Goodbye IFTTT
In my experience (B2B) nearly 50% claim API access as critical during the sales cycle, which poses huge obstacles to sales. Then of course, only 5% implement and it'll turn out their unspoken use case isn't supported. This hits home for me.
asyncscrum··on Atlassian moving to cloud-only, will stop selling server licenses
This looks fantastic. A very deep product. I appreciate the copy "Like Slack, but nowhere as good."
asyncscrum··on Show HN: A Product Idea Prompt Generator
Poober
asyncscrum··on The Mostly True Story of Vanilla Ice
The Chuck D and Ice T cosign was completely unknown to me. I knew how he came up, and I knew he was well schooled on the rap game, but that tidbit was important for me to know.
asyncscrum··on Lessons learned from onboarding emails with no HTML styling
Agreed. If they wanted HN conversions the title would be 'Lessons learned from onboarding emails written in Rust'
asyncscrum··on A Black Hole at the Center of Earth
I was sort of into the term 'black brane' then I saw figure 1 and closed the tab.
