aspantel··on Show HN: Sunnybox – An Email API for Effortless IMAP Integration
Yes, Nylas provides this, and also Aurinko: https://www.aurinko.io/blog/imap-restful-api-gateway/

Nylas is a sync engine though so all client data will end up on their servers first and then will be served to you. Aurinko tries to remain API gateway (pass-through) as much as possible.

Good luck with the project.

aspantel··on Ask HN: Which is a better unified API platform?
In that case, for email please check out Aurinko API https://docs.aurinko.io/unified-mailbox-api/email-api

Which payroll platforms are important to you?

We are also building a virtualization layer, so you could configure a virtualized unified API for your specific needs provided that we have the required connectors. https://www.aurinko.io/blog/virtualized-unified-api/

Email me at alexey at aurinko.io if you have quesitons.

aspantel··on Ask HN: Which is a better unified API platform?
Do you need breadth (cover many APIs with basic functionality) or depth (a few APIs but advanced functionality)? If depth, which segment of APIs, email/calendar, CRM, ...?
aspantel··on Ask HN: Has Google made you pay $15,000 to $75,000 for a security review?

aspantel··on Ask HN: Has Google made you pay $15,000 to $75,000 for a security review?
Google completely ignores our complaints about forcing app developers to use just those two firms so any dev. shop using Gmail API (or IMAP over OAuth2) should be prepared to pay >$15k! That is going to drive many small businesses out of business.
aspantel··on Ask HN: Has Google made you pay $15,000 to $75,000 for a security review?
Got it. Let me see what Google responds to our last inquiry, then I'll contact.
aspantel··on Ask HN: Has Google made you pay $15,000 to $75,000 for a security review?
The problem is that Google wants to see reviews from one of those companies. We're communicating with them regarding this more ... Because this is just a major shake down which will put small dev. shops out of business.
aspantel··on Ask HN: Has Google made you pay $15,000 to $75,000 for a security review?
When we asked to use another security company for the assessment Google responded: "We understand your concern but you will have to request a security assessment from one of the following independent third-party assessors: Leviathan Security, Bishop Fox".
aspantel··on Ask HN: Entrepreneurs who do their own bookkeeping and accounting
At one point we got ourselves a QuickBooks Online account and found a bookkeeper to help us enter and reconcile all data into QB monthly. Works great and having such a bookkeeper is pretty cheap. For taxes we use an accounting firm but having the up-to-date QB account helps alot. -A

You'll definitely need E&O and Cyber if you work with big enterprise level clients. Christine helped us get those for my company, check out her LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/christinemarciano -Alexey
aspantel··on Ask HN: How do you explain to non-technical people that bugs happen in software?
I'd have to agree here. Bugs is not a norm for experienced teams with good processes. So I'd suggest to side with the customer first, agreeing with their expectations of low bug rates and tell them you'll be improving your testing/releasing processes. And then indeed do revisit your coding/testing/releasing processes to see what can be done better. -Alexey
